That said, confusion can occur, and when it happens it is usually while starting/resuming the match rather than while stopping the match. This is corrected by immediately stopping and restarting the match without penalty to the wrestler(s) who may have false started due to a nearby whistle. Additionally, there are visual signals that officials use in conjunction with the whistle when starting and stopping the match in order to minimize the confusion.

He's in a fast moving sports setting with a lot of contrast & depth of field and likely a high ISO setting to brighten up the indoor lighting. If he turned on manual focus You wouldn't have the crystal clarity in the content that you do now. Google autofocus sporting events to confirm what I'm saying. I'm a photographer and videographer. Though photographers can disagree on things, I think autofocus is exactly what he needs in his sports setting.

In addition to replacing some faulty equipment, there has been a lot learned since then, including improving auto-focus settings. Expect to see better results once videos from the next tournament begin rolling out.

@@bladewire a cinematic lense would solve all of your aforementioned issues. Auto focus is unnecessary. His iso is low, those gyms are very well lit.
