So from your list, what stick would you say has the most forgiving shot (for lack of a better term)? Like ease of load, release, little effort, power, etc.
Proto/ sync Easy, decent enough release and power. They still stay true to the nexus “sweet spot” Most other sticks on my list are their because they generate great recoil and power but are slightly stiffer feeling.
went with the Proto R when i was having issues with the FT6 pro and the funky blade feel. i found that i was almost fanning on the puck with how light the blade was. for me and my preference i did not prefer that. i will say the power was very nice and i also liked the weight of the FT6 the Proto is just like you say, such a nice easy release that all shots fly off effortlessly. hand placement on both sticks play a part, but with the proto being more " forgiving". so when you need to fire a shot before that pissy defenseman at 10:45 at night on a Tuesday wants to hack you with his nexus team stick, the shot comes off super nice. excellent video as always. plus one for the proto here. one last note, the ccm stick release is out of control. pics are floating around of the FT7 pro already. but then again, that means a nice discount on current lines soon, cheers.
That’s so true. Yeah ft 6 or ghost is going to be a preference for sure and the proto is a nice in between them both. Agreed on the ft7 that is super soon but I’ll be stoked to be getting ft6 pros for cheaper for once lol
i just picked up the novium pro and you are 100% correct that the wrirst shots are not that snappy, but my fuck the snappers and slappers are some of the hardest ive experienced

@jaipaulsethi6880 yep total one line was by far the best mid kickers back in the day. Right now the mid kick lines don’t seem to have that same power unsure why
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews ok so its not just me! haha i do find a clean slapper on the novium pro has a huge level of power too, but then other areas do not match up to that level from the Total One line .. thanks as always for the review and videos looking forward to more of them especially from warrior 👍✌
Can you elaborate on the FT Ghost's blade puck wobbling-shot issue? I'm waiting on delivery of a FT6 PRO but I'm usually in between a mid kick (LX Pro) and hybrid (FT5 PRO) I am wondering if it is worth looking at getting a Ghost in the future, since it could be what I'd want if the FT6 was a mid kick. Which has better puck feel? I'm a little confused on what to think between the two.
Because the blade is sooooo soft like more than anything I’ve used if you miss shoot or hit it off the puck can flutter because it has such a trampoline effect on the blade when puck contacts. The ft6 is way lighter and stiffer and never had this issue. It’s what you sacrifice for puck feel the ft6 has zero puck feel as that blade is crazy light and stiff. The ghost has great puck feel but this wobble on the puck on shots happens occasionally for me I’ve never had before
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews I think that makes more sense. Is there a way to counter act the TOO SOFT feel with extra tape or something? Or just something to get used to?
@rexyaeger3638 probably something to get used to over time. More tape would prob make it worse. I think it just comes with the soft blade you get feel but shooting can have some down sides
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews Any plans for non-stick related videos soon? Updated off-ice training video? My team went up a level this winter season and I am looking for ways to improve. Mostly my fitness as an individual athlete but how to improve my team as well. Excellent videos as always, My favorite hockey TH-camr, Still rocking the LX pro cause of you, even got my skates sharpened to Quad Zero base on that video.
Great Video... Watching the video subjectively you shot the most consistent with the Proto-R so curious choice re the Ghost, and I am only a bauer skate fanboy. Been using CCM sticks for a few years and they are arguably putting out the best retail sticks, so naturally have been eyeing a ghost but hate the price. Anyway, I will be following the durability of the Proto updates from you, as that stick looks promising. My only current knock on Bauer sticks is they are all 60" or whatever retail which is noticeably shorter than CCM ( 62") if you are 6 FT + can be a consideration
The proto was great which is why I kept it in same level just slightly below the ghost. The ghost performs better in stride as I can put more into shots so it’s noticbly stronger in game which is why I had that section, the proto however is very easy to use and I struggled to put it down before I had the ghost. The difference in height is a bit annoying in ccm vs Bauer in those special sticks as dialing flex is a bit hard.
Hey bum! I know how much you loved your ultrasonic glove.. hated the ultralite and now i see you rocking the mach.. we are due for sime equipment review too ! ;) great vid ! (Even tho im a trigger guy and cant even consider the ft ghost since no p88...)

@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews if you can get your hands on one go for it. I usually email Bauer direct with the player code on the stick and they will give you the exact specs on the build. There’s some cool things pro’s do like extra grip and x-stiff blade etc, which most of mine end up being. According to Bauer this is a common build and a lot of nhlers actually use 2NPROXL’s dressed as something else. I also find they have more pop and power than the old retail 2N Pro. Problem is I like lower flex so finding those builds are hard, so I think I might have to give the Proto R a go… especially since it just has 4 sides (they need to stop this 5 sides bs!) How stiff would you say the blade is compared to something else?
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews looking at picking up one of these now… what’s the proto’s blade feel most similar to? Likewise does the ghost feel similar to a Sherwood tmp pro given they are both hybrid and softer blades?
@@PartyLike1969 the ghost blade is softer than anything on the market there is no comparison. The proto is a stiff blade and feels similar to most blades these days built for stiffness. They are much different from each other

Thanks for the replies. I bought the Ghost sight unseen (still waiting for ACL to heal, and bored). My shot is tremendous with FT3 pro and FT4 pro, but their blades are so stiff for catching passes and stickhandling. I figured the Ghost was the same weight as the FT6 Pro, so no reason to get a Trigger 8 for the soft blade and wrong kick point. But now I wish I compared to the FT6 Pro first
@lextildeath sometimes it’s just the batch But my ft6 was twice 360 ish so I think the ghosts blade and shaft kept the weight up more at 380. The blade you will like if you prefer to feel more for sure
That it is although hockey stick names aren’t exactly cool Ft1-6 trigger 3-8 lol I’ll give Bauer props for naming their sticks actually names like a car instead of ccm
Im thinking of either getting a custom Sync with no 5 sides and stiffer blade or a Pro mid kick. Money aside Which one would u say be better power, quick release etc.
The customs aren’t the sync kick point because the sync is built on the 5 side. The custom is a traditional nexus. So they will be pretty similar. The blade being the outlier kick point power release etc would be the same
@@Coneh17 she’s a stiff stick with a very odd load because the taper is so stiff. Will be interesting to see if you like it. I take my slap shots but prefer a more tradional mid like the proto
The proto in 70 felt to whippy and didn’t have enough power to me as I got it for a warranty. Preferred the 77. The ft6 or ghost is fine is 70 due to its stiffness profile shoots better than the 70 proto
I’ve been a fan of the Geo,Sync and LX Pro. In your opinion is the Proto worth it? I’ve been waiting for this review for the Proto- thank you for all the detail and time you put in!
If you like the sync and geo you should love this. The load is the same and nice and smooth just no 5 sides. Keep in mind the blade is not the same though those are made for feel this is stiff for accuracy and puck velocity
As I ranked them both high in this video it depends what’s more important to you in a stick. I would take the Proto over the ghost myself despite it ranking higher because of the blade just not being my bag as soft it shoots better but the proto is lighter loads easier and has a better blade for shooting
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews hopefully I have better luck. I’m all wrist shots and snap shots. I’ve seen 12 yr old girls with harder clappers than me….. my fear with the ghost is face offs
video processing comment... When holding the stick, your gloves and the center of the stick near your body is sharp and in focus but the fake focus blur towards the edges make the sticks blur out in a distracting fashion when you hold them horizontally. Your feet and knees are in focus, your body and head is in focus, your gloves when held in the center of the frame is in focus, the center of the stick between your gloves is in focus, but the stick just blurs out on left and right side. It looks like a video processing filter and it's super distracting sometimes, especially in your conclusion where I couldn't even tell what stick you were holding because it was so blurred out on the left and right even though the whole stick should have been in focus.

the Proto is just like you say, such a nice easy release that all shots fly off effortlessly. hand placement on both sticks play a part, but with the proto being more " forgiving". so when you need to fire a shot before that pissy defenseman at 10:45 at night on a Tuesday wants to hack you with his nexus team stick, the shot comes off super nice. excellent video as always. plus one for the proto here.
one last note, the ccm stick release is out of control. pics are floating around of the FT7 pro already. but then again, that means a nice discount on current lines soon, cheers.
That’s so true. Yeah ft 6 or ghost is going to be a preference for sure and the proto is a nice in between them both. Agreed on the ft7 that is super soon but I’ll be stoked to be getting ft6 pros for cheaper for once lol

@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews i am curious too - i think the best mid kick stick of all time is the OG total one - it had this kind of power , and great wristers too ahh it was 425 grams but felt much lighter because of the grip and balance - did you ever have that one? it was lizard green , black , and whitish/grey
@jaipaulsethi6880 appreciate the comment and watching!
Hi, love your reviwes, best on this platform by far. Im used to a 75 flex lx pro and want to get a ghost. Should i go with 75 or 70 flex?
The ghost is longer than a standard Lxpro so you will probably cut down slightly? If that’s the case I would go 70 and will line up well
Can you elaborate on the FT Ghost's blade puck wobbling-shot issue? I'm waiting on delivery of a FT6 PRO but I'm usually in between a mid kick (LX Pro) and hybrid (FT5 PRO)
I am wondering if it is worth looking at getting a Ghost in the future, since it could be what I'd want if the FT6 was a mid kick.
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews Gotcha. Thanks for the extra breakdown.
Yeah my plan is to focus on a few other things coming up, ft6 protective long term thoughts, hyperlite 2 skate long term I’ll throw the Mach in there too. I have the as6 pro stick and that’s probably everything for the rest of the year I think. Yeah honestly the ghost has kinda been hit or miss for a lot of people due to the blade being so soft. It’s a massive change and most aren’t liking it. So probably best especially if you can’t get a curve that’s yours
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews decided on the ultrasonic vs hyperlite glove because of your video ! After using the ghost for a month now and the Proto r for 10-12+ games now the ghost has way more power and feels way better. I’m thinking about selling my 2 Proto sticks and getting 2 more ghost. But I do like collecting pro stick sticks so I might just save up and get the ghost anyway.
Yes I’m the end the ghost is a better stick they do play a but different though and wanted to ensure that came across as some may prefer it
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews ya I agree. I like the Proto but after using the ghost for a month and then getting the Proto it just feels off to myself from my style. I tried using my trigger 7 Pro again and that doesn’t feel as good now either.
I’m in love with the ghost personally as my top stick atm for my style of play. If I’m playing on a team that I’m only defense and staying back on I’ll use the LX Pro but when I’m playing offensive d I’m taking the ghost all day.
@@ArchieCrypto it’s up there for sure. I hope that ccm keeps this success going with their sticks and only does minor tweaks. I wasn’t a huge fan of the big swings in performance from ft3,4,5 and trigger 4,5 and as2,3,4,5 they have a formula and should stick to it now.
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews I agree. I bought an FT4 Pro and absolutely hate it. It rings my hands too much but it has great power. So I was a little weary on the ghost but I rip slappers and don’t feel a thing in my hands.
It could have just been the way the FT4 was made. It’s Owen Powers stick he used so I don’t know. I do know they have durability issues from what I’ve seen and heard but so does anything Bauer.
My buddy broke his Proto 2 weeks ago I’m warm ups after only 2 weeks of use. Mine seems fine but mines also a Pro stick so I don’t know if that mashed a difference or not.

I was talking with a ccm marketing director maybe a week ago I was talking about custom sticks and she was like yea we were a bit slow with the online stick customizer but it is scheduled to come out in February or March next year. Also, Ft7 release is January. A custom jetspeed could be insane like Laine blade jetspeed ft7, grip options
Would love to see ccm sticks with new curve options at custom. Although I’ll address the ft7 and ghost as6 blades in the as6 review because I think we have an issue on these soft ones
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews yes I did find out there is something wrong with the as6 blade I blew threw it in my second game and my teammate also broke it at the blade in 5 games. And I know that the ft7 does have a soft blade too so I'm a bit cautious
@alexpayne1364 prob a cycle of bad blade s unfortunately
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews hopefully ft7 is the last on the bad blades and they just did it to experiment and the ft8 will be more of a classic jetspeed like the 6. When will u be releasing the as6 review?
@alexpayne1364 trying today but we will see
Late the comments but is the Proto R basically a retail version of the 2NPROXL with a stiff blade profile? If yes, sign me up.
Never used the 2n pro xl but it feels more classic nexus.
Problem is I like lower flex so finding those builds are hard, so I think I might have to give the Proto R a go… especially since it just has 4 sides (they need to stop this 5 sides bs!)
How stiff would you say the blade is compared to something else?
@@PartyLike1969 crazy I would like to try one. Blade is nice and stiff on the proto I never have issues with any shooting always crisp
They are much different from each other
With the blade being so soft on the Ghost, do you see it having a shorter lifespan than say an FT6 Pro?
I would say the blade will die faster than usual for sure but hard to say if that will affect overall durability over the ft6.
Is the Proto Stiffer then the Hyperlite 2? like stiffer to load
It’s mid kick it’s much easier even in higher flexes
@@beerleaguebumhockeyreviews Cause ive heard that the hyperlite feels whippier I'm like ain't mid kicks supposed to be whippier then the lows lol thanks

Be careful with the ghost the blade is weak and won’t last. Just know that going in. I would stick with same flex no different from ft6
Ok thanks
Ghost is listed as 363 grams - where did you see 380?
Weigh them never trust those weights
Oh I see you actually weighed these...good work
Usually I put them into videos but missed it this time I did on insta though
Thinking about picking up the proto after this and some testing of myself. What a weird name though
That it is although hockey stick names aren’t exactly cool Ft1-6 trigger 3-8 lol I’ll give Bauer props for naming their sticks actually names like a car instead of ccm

What Flex did you use on your sticks?
These were all 75
Im thinking of either getting a custom Sync with no 5 sides and stiffer blade or a Pro mid kick. Money aside Which one would u say be better power, quick release etc.
The customs aren’t the sync kick point because the sync is built on the 5 side. The custom is a traditional nexus. So they will be pretty similar. The blade being the outlier kick point power release etc would be the same

The proto in 70 felt to whippy and didn’t have enough power to me as I got it for a warranty. Preferred the 77. The ft6 or ghost is fine is 70 due to its stiffness profile shoots better than the 70 proto

As I ranked them both high in this video it depends what’s more important to you in a stick. video processing comment...
