Almost exactly halfway through, I'm riveted and enthralled. I started listening while out walking my dog, and quickly decided to change my plans for the day and clean the house and do some gardening - this is way too good to be distracted by the actual work I need to get done this week. I'll do that tomorrow instead 😁

Read or listen ? I think there is a difference but I'm not smart enough to know the difference. I don't know how to articulate the difference between reading words or listening to words. Is it the same thing ? Both put pictures in my mind . Is reading a book the same as listening to the same book ?

Vicrum is a great antagonist. He's not exactly evil, he's a trickster. He's so very clever, and if you think about it, he has a good reason for being the way he is. The humans have to contain him for their own safety, and he's fine with that as long as you don't push him. It's not like he's dangerous while in his containment, yet they still insist on trying to kill him, so he attacks them first. I get they want to be rid of him so they don't have to worry about containing him forever.

Why so morose, man? The original comment is simply someone expressing that this & other creepy pastas would make great films… don’t know why that leads to your response per se. I get that people don’t agree easily nowadays, but that seems to go much deeper than just the original commenter’s proposal… seems like you are contemplating the problems of man too much, spurred by this one simple comment.

I know you are likely being satirical, but just in case - or go back you up ardently - NO GOD NO. NO MORE of the damn reboots! Especially for films that got it correct the first time & there’s no need to remake them, 95% of the time only to ruin them. The 5% is truly for those reboots that work with their own perspective on the film in a way that adds something to the film, but even then, not everyone pulls this off well. & many may THINK they are doing something new, but really it’s just a trite copy.

No one has seemed to notice, but recently lighthouse has been posting more videos adding on to this lore
I mean it can be argued that all stories are in the same cannon, but those specific videos have specific titles in this format: I work at a place for monsters
That doesnt mean other videos arent connected, i remember in the story with the clicking aliens that the main character referenced "redwood piper birds" and "scarf people" as urban legends
Sorry for the long comment btw but just wanted it to be out there
Also props to the amazing video! This one goes down with "I think my grandfather is a serial killer", "I inherited my grandmas old house" "I found a cage in my grandpas basement" "I work for a special division of the FBI, genetic engineering is dangerous"betc. I really like what lighthouse does and I'm always very invested in their stories but

I was an actual federal inmate at FCH-Springfield. It's a federal correctional institution, but it's a medical facility. I was there in 2014 for a knee surgery. Being a hospital, it had a psychiatric wing as well. It was no joke. It had a low level psych area where the inmates had mental problems but could still associate with general population. But, during my time there, I worked various jobs. One of which was to service the psych unit. It had 2 other security levels. The last hallway was single cells, lockdown 23 hrs a day, and totally quiet. These guys were never allowed to see the light of day. The staff told us these were the ones who were really dangerous. It was pretty eerie.

When done, I went back to the federal prisoner hospital. The place is basically a large hospital, the prison, so they have everything that would be needed both short and long term recovery processes. It's the same protocol...
I was given anesthesia, follow up pain meds( Percocet for a couple weeks then Tylenol 3 with codiene to finish with. And at least 3 months of physical therapy.

I've been to jail, I know I'm a horrible person. I never had any issues with any inmates, however the most humiliated I've ever in my life was how i was treated by a guard. A little back story, I am legally deaf but can still hear somethings. They called morning roll call, I didnt hear it. Honestly inside of a cell it sounds like the a transmission from an AM radio station circa 1920. My cell mate woke me up I got to the tiny window just as the CO arrived. He began accosting me like I've never experienced before, keep in mind im not an 18 snowflake. Its been about 3 years now since that, I think i should probably just feel bad for his fat ass, cuz he hasnt been able to see his own pecker for years. I guess the morale of my story is, i can see how you see all inmates as the same. However they are still PEOPLE! I would thank you for your service, but i have no respect for CO's even the nice ones just sat and watched youtube all day. I was in county jail. we got out 2 hours a day because they were "short staffed" is that my fault? Good day sir.

Maybe it was an oversight, but I have a theory about this story based on one piece of evidence. He describes how horrible it is to be under the control of a siren, but I think she was making it that way. Infact I think she was able to control people without them ever knowing. And I think he was already under her control before the interview where she removed his visor. She knew what he knew, she was just letting him chase down a trail she knew didn't matter to keep him occupied. What's my evidence? He wasn't wearing a visor during the lockdown, and he looked right at her in the hallway. She would've had him right there at that moment, along with every other staff member in that hall who so much as glanced at her.

It bugged you because it was a massive plot hole. It makes no sense that a human susceptible to hypnotization should ever come in contact with a siren, especially when there is an easy alternative: vampires immune to mind control. You'd think a massive organization that dedicated itself to containing these creatures would think of something like that.

Even if he thought it was his imagination, it would just be responsible - in this situation especially - to inform people to check it out. And since Kayla seemed involved with Malakay too, it's suspicious as hell. Very frustrating bit for me.

Darksomnium is easily the best narrator on the site but I liked this story alot more. The one dark read listed the prisoners as if they where wrestlers gearing u9 for the WWE title belt and I really didn't like that. It reminded me of that idiot in 7th or 8th grade that was obsessed with fighting and just put me off

By far one of the most talented storytellers I ever had the pleasure to listen to. Kudos to you Stephen, I look forward to when you hit one million subscribers, I don't think it will be a long wait. I love how many people have commented that they've listened to these long stories. Shouldn't you all be working?? It'll never cease to amaze me how many people get paid to work, & instead, dick around on the internet. Yet are usually the ones to complain about their tax dollars being used to assist their fellow human beings who have either fallen upon difficult times, or are suffering from illnesses, &/or disabilities-Which most of the time isn't even the case.

    • @kouvue9830
      @kouvue9830 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@Blue-Lotus888 Depends on the kind of work you do. Some places don’t allow it but mines do allow you to listen or have ear phones on. Why should it matter if people listen to stories or music when they’re working. And honestly it’s their money, they can complain about it how they want. Most of the time tax money just goes straight to the government and never reach those in need anyways.

@@kouvue9830 B/C it's a matter of honor. If you're being paid by someone else to work, you should be working-It's that simple. However, I am in agreement that everyone's tax dollars are straight up being stolen, you are correct there.

@@Blue-Lotus888 You do realize many workplaces now a days encourages you to listen to music and such to make the day easier on their workers. It’s not that people listen to this and not work, it’s more of it gets you into the mood. Workplace now and 20 yrs ago differs hugely.

Lighthouse Horror, I was so pleased right away that this was a longer story, as often many are
read out and sometimes so brief that one isn't sure that they've actually ended. After beginning to
listen, I got more and more engrossed. Everything about this was top notch, the story, your reading and various accents, and an ending worth waiting for. Thank you very much, please make more if your time permits. Your efforts are truly appreciated by many people! Good wishes to you.

I have to say this story was wonderful -- the kind that is so immersive it keeps one glued the entire time! Kudos to the author! In many ways classic horror stories that end in a mystery are best suited to say mysteries... preserves a lingering fear... but a small part of me wants to know whether Kala or Old Vic retire into the faraway places and not risk recapture or they decide to lead an assault on the facility. Of course your narration really brought things to life beautifully... well done! Wow! 3+ Hours of Narration! WHEW!!! Thank you so much for bringing a great story to life and sharing it with us. Blessed Be!
