As a modern day scene kid who is somewhat particular and sick of “scenecore” bullshit-
6arelyhuman is absolutely a modern scene band, no question about it. They are scene. And a lot of these other songs can absolutely be classified as scene, while others can’t.
But the only ones I can specifically name as “yeah please don’t call this scene” are Brooklyn Blood Pop, Superstar, and Vacation Bible School. (I don’t dislike the songs, they just aren’t scene)
Hyperpop isn’t scene music inherently, but it can definitely be really close
Please don’t let people call you a poser if you’re actually trying to be part of the subculture. You can listen to more than just scene music and still be scene.
But if you’re trying to completely overhaul the subculture and erase its history and completely redefine it? Get your own goddamn subculture, screw off.
Stop calling it “scenecore”, make something new!! Own it!! Just stop co-opting us.

It's so stressful trying to enjoy scene and scenecore because everyone is always like "That's not scene, you faker!!! You don't know what scene is!" And every example I see is always different, so now I have no idea what is and isn't scene and I don't know what clothes to wear to fit my aesthetic (I think I'm just gonna start calling it 'alt' lmao) 🫠 Thank you for making this playlist, I feel like some people are a little too serious about scene and scenecore and go off on people who are just trying to learn about it/enjoy it 😭 I'm not hear to start fights, I'm just trying to enjoy the aesthetic!

Same honestly, I don’t even know what scenecore is atp cause people have said it’s the style of dress from bunny/frog hat era but other people are saying it’s literally anyone who’s new to scene. People are starting to get like how lolita fashion was(and still lowkey is, some Lolita’s will still rip you to shreds for not using name brand accessories in their coords and act like being broke is a sin).
