9:44 Says all that needs to be said about the Souness years that he sold Beardsley to Everton and then went to scout...Peter Ndlovu...Beardsley still had another 4 good years left in him by then. In fact Beardsley was actually called up to the England training camp for Euro 96 but didn't quite make the final squad.
We were in the Cup Winnwrs Cup that season, Bruce did Bruce things and got sent off and we had David Burrows in goal at 2-2 against Spartak Moscow. We ended up losing 4-2 in that firs leg. Lost 0-2 at Anfield, we were just so bad back then, we lost to Genoa the season before in both legs, we went out ot bloody Cleta Vigp and Brondby later on.... we lost the plot.
Souness got rid of too many established players that season, we needed experience alongside the youngner talent we had coming through like Redknapp, Hutchinson, Marsh, fowler etc
As someone else said in comments, this season was hell, yes it was horrifying especially given the other crowd were finally getting their act together and starting their period of dominance. Too easy to blame Souness as everyone did at that time, but I think it had all started to end around 1990 anyway after April 1989. Roy Evans began to get a handle on things but then we had slipped too far behind Utd so were were punished badly for any slip ups that may have been livable in previous seasons, it was an ordeal. I can still remember us being hammered in 1994 by Southampton 2-4 soon after the epic comeback 3-3 against a flying Utd, typical of how we were at the time though, one week amazing, "the good old days are back" the next week like "oh yeah, we're shit, I almost forgot!" ..sort of like how Utd are today, weird how these cycles occur.
Just found your channel today. Some cracking original content. I’ve just started making footie shorts myself and I know it’s hard, but you’ve clearly honed in on what you are passionate about and what you are good at. The latter being humour, you’re super funny like the subtle 115 joke sent me. Keep up the lists and pepper in your slightly edgy jokes with a casual delivery and I’m sure you’ll be a success in no time. Subscribed and keep up the good work.
I remember these years very well, it makes me appreciate the good times we have now but how things can change so quick. Look at Man Utd, they're going through what we did back then. It could easily happen to anyone if you drop the ball for a second. I think this might have been the last season I "watched most games live" on teletext lol - think we ditched sky for a bit but then went back... begrudgingly.
I was at that 6-2 game - was great!!! Best moment and performance of a terrible season... I was 12-13. Was that the season we lost 2-0 at their place? Nayim scroing from near half way line? I was in Spurs end, only way me and my Dad could get tickets, and it was a nightmare! Glad we whipped them if this was the season , can't remember.
I was 13/14 during this season and I just remember it being absolutely bloody depressing! At least we still had Molby to score the occasional torpedo from 30 yards out!

8:56 Nice tribute to Jan Molby from his team mates.
I lived through this season. It was hell. Looking forward to more
Agree mate but 93/94 was worse

Souness and the Spice Boys ruined Liverpool. At times I suspect SAF paid him to do a terrible job
UEFA brought in the foreign players rule which handicapped Souness like other managers of other clubs playing in Europe.
Souness has admitted he made mistakes whilst at Liverpool.
Ronnie Whelan scored that season and is not from the UK.

Love the little contemporary asides on this retrospective.
1:29 who’s Ronnie Rossen-fol, I don’t remember him?
And Ray Hoe-ton
Or Peter N-dee-oh-vu
This has throwback vibes to original WhatCulture content, and I'm here for it!

Like it, BUT Ireland as a whole is not in the UK…
that Liverpool Middlesbrough game was a definite shoot out, good job Rushie scored late on...
Selling Beardsley and Houghton…. Quite simply unbelievable 😂
This is great content when you are doing something about my team Liverpool keep up the good work
Appreciate it mate, thank you! :)

This is really good mate 👏
Thank you mate! Means alot :)
I watched all our season reviews from the ‘90s during lockdown, but this condenses a lot of information into 10 minutes & is very informative 👏
I had the link icon poster on my wall as a kid,
Liverpool's first PL Hat-trick was scored by a guy whose middle name is Everton 🤣🤣

Baddiel and skinner fantasy football league told me it was unlove .. a surprise
The only fascinating fact about this season was:
Liverpool were still at school, learning how to kick a ball 😂
We didn’t win anything in 90/91 season, so 92/93 wasn’t the first trophyless season since 84/85
First trophies season since 1984-85? What about 1990-91, unless a half a Charity Shield counts?
Yeah I made a mistake forgetting the 1992 FA Cup, apologies mate but just pretend I guess 😂
The Souness years were horrible it took us 30 years to recover, thanks to Jurgen Klopp.
The Bloody f,a changed the rules
Souness, knocked them off their perch. Not Fergie.
Where is John Barnes in team photo ??
Liverpool were knocked out of the cup winners cup, not the European cup
Here's a fact about Liverpool's 92/93 season it was dreadful with some of the worst players the club has ever had
Far better back in the day when most players were English
there should be at least five white english players in every team
