Purtroppo la tecnica e fondamentale, ci sono dinamiche (poteva essere tanto di più), ma fondalmente mancano colori. E come non e libera la voce, manca anima. Ogni tanto un po più di accenti e ritmo e slancio rendereva l'aria molto più attrattivo/espressivo. Insomma, ci vuole tanto più fiatto, serenità. Non ha corpo questa voce. Bravissimo però… --'

Yes SK is essentially a lyric baritone but it hasn't stopped him from singing, not only Roderigo in Don Carlos (a lyric role) but also Macbeth and Rigoletto. He may not sing the full role of Renato in The Masked Ball, but I think it's very good that he will sing the various, heavy arias from lots of different operas. I for one love hearing him sing Verdi because he can sing! Best wishes.
Essentially, a wonderful voice that's ill-suited for singing the more dramatic Verdian baritone roles. He should continue to focus on the lyrical roles of the Germanic realm like Wolfram or Harlequin (Wagner and Strauss, respectively.) And for the more Italianate characters, Don Giovanni, Figaro/The Count, Leporello (which is lyric bass-baritone/baritone repertory,) Enrico, Riccardo, Silvio.
He has certainly matured into a heavier repertoire - I hope he'll do Count di Luna someday. He could bring a vulnerability to the character that's not often seen.
Mozart, Rossini, Donizetti, Strauß. This is a nice voice for Schaunard not Marcello. IMO. I’d rather listen to Zancanaro on TH-cam than go to the Met and hear this singer in Ballo.

Sí me parece que el timbre es agradable, también es inteligente como cantante y como músico. En escena es convincente su actuación. Pero... No es el color que uno espera escuchar... Le concedo qué es 1000 veces más creíble y agradable que Thomas Hampson, A quién no soporto... Lo siento! No digo que todos los baritonos tienen que parecer un Bajo con agudos, pero sí deben de ser voces más redondas, más oscuras y con mas armónicos.

He's suited for this role because, while most of Verdi's baritone roles are dramatic, Renato is a role for lyric baritones.

Powerful.. good secure high notes... but no real piano colors in the mix. The aria is about heartbreak, and can be heartbreaking.
