  • A successful week begins the weekend before. Work alongside Julia, mom of 6, as she prepares a hearty meal, plans the homeschool week, and organizes the children’s clothing boxes for spring.

Great tips. Weekend planning is key to having a smooth week, especially those make-ahead meals and a look-through of the homeschool books. Maybe I'll try your hamburger soup; I think I have all those ingredients on hand!

@@TheKuesters Well, we recently moved into a new home. It's spacious, but very old and in need of deep cleaning. Weekends have and will be spent scrubbing, scouring, painting, and trying to stay ahead of the dust bunnies. Plus the regular cooking, laundry, and family time. Always plenty to do, but it's all a blessing!

Will do! Thank you for your interest. These ideas are definitely ones I will make in the upcoming weeks. I'm rotating through faith, minimalism, and homeschool. Family organization is key to all these functioning their best.

    Hamburger Soup (3-4 Meals Worth!)
Ingredients: 7 carrots, 2 onions, 1 bunch celery, 1 pepper (any colour), 1/4 cup parsley flakes or 1/2 cup fresh parsley to sprinkle on top afterwards, 3 cloves garlic, 2 pounds lean or extra lean hamburger, 1/2 cup pearl barely, 2 cans crushed tomatoes, 2 cans tomato sauce, 3-4 oxo cubes, 1/4 cup ketchup, 1 tsp. Thyme or oregano, dash of cayenne pepper, salt and pepper to taste.
Directions: Brown hamburger and remove fat. Set aside. In a really large pot (or two!), boil onions, carrots, pepper, celery, parsley flakes, garlic, in about five cups of water along with a couple teaspoons of sugar, barley (or kidney beans) and oxo cubes. Add tomatoes, tomato sauce and then cooked hamburger. Simmer about an hour until barley is tender.
Let cool and transfer to freezer bags or smaller containers. Enjoy!
