    IMHO 'Scotchlocks' or the blue crimp and splice connectors are THE worst way to make a connection to your wiring loom.
    Yes they are easy and simple to use but they are not 100% effective and can corrode badly over time, giving no end of electrical problems.
    Solder or crimp with suitable weatherproofing as well especially at the front exterior.
    Apart from that, a nice how to for your product

    Hi 🙋‍♂️ It’s very nice 👍 looks 👀 better than the factory 🏭 fitted and two functions in one ☝️ unit but it is my idea 💡 if you can upgrade the control unit/ circuit Bord in the water 💦 proof box 📦/ and plug 🔌 and play instead connector/screw. I am sorry ☹️ but this is my thought 💭.but you are more professional.

      Its a valid point and something I was thinking too. That piece of heatshrink is never going to shrink down small enough to seal either side of the board and having such an exposed board near the front of a Landrover is going to eventually lead to problems. I will definitely buy this kit in time and, if a more waterproof version is not available, then will seal it into my own plastic box.

    Mistake with your Scotchlock connector , through cable goes on the outside or open edge, the inner hole is a blind hole, so that when you put the loose cable in it cannot poke through, as there is an end stop to prevent this, unless these are some really cheap copies that do not have the end stop built in. Personally I have only ever come across the blind hole type. PB.

      Hi Just fitted the Freelander 2 DRL light kit, fitting is quite easy, and look good.... I did need to remove the location pegs were for the original fog lights, as the new DRL fog light metal cradle interferes with them sitting back agains the screen holes.. minor detail...
      the heat shrink wrap for the circuit board not very good, too big an area to heat shrink ,to get good seal around cable,s a waterproof electronics box to house circuit board, this would be a very good addition to the kit, even though it would add cost. as not every one will have a heat gun, would make installation easier. let me know if you have sorted a circuit board box and I will purchase..

    I've been thinking. The fog light itself has a plug but you used a butt connector for the extra wire. Wouldn't that be better with a plug also as if the bumper had to come off then you would have to keep cutting and re connecting the wire every time you did a bumper removal?

    Hi have a board fitted on a 2010 Freelander 2. All functions work except no dimming. I have tried dipped beam feed, even direct from battery. I bought the FOG923-RNG DRLs and have VER 2 board. • @L663
      @L663  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@michaelstanley3961 Hi - you cannot check LED dimming by reducing the voltage - on LED its the current you need to restrict to get a dimming effect. The board does this by something called PWM ( pulse width modulation ) - I will check these tomorrow to see if they do / do not dim. Sorry for the problems you had with this but let me check and get back to you. As you say it may be better to use these

      Hi - this is interesting - you have done the right thing by just focusing on the + and - and DRL. Can you check the voltage on your car is 14v when the engine is running. @@regabercrombie6097 That is really odd - it should be working. Its also odd that both lights dont work - it would be odd that both lights fail as these lights are reliable and to have 2 fail is not likely. It would seem to be an issue with the earthing - it uses the fog wire earth. but as the fog lights work i am a little confused. Can you measure the voltage between the fog light negative and the yellow DRL wire ? The other thing is to just run a wire from the battery + to the yellow wire to test the DRLS work - you could just connect the DRL wire on the board to the positive to test this.

    Hello
    I purchased your Freelander 2 fog light DRL kit including the DRL PCB and have just fitted them. I’m having an issue with the brightness of the DRL they seem to be stuck in the reduced brightness mode as though the main lights are on. Hi Mark - can you try and disconnect the wire to the sidelight ( at the circuit board ) and see if they work at full brightness. I am worried the sidelight on your car may be on all the time.
