    I inherited My fathers 69 cougar. Its got a worn out 390. I debated rebuilding the 390. More and more as I watch these videos I'm debating getting a 7.3 &10R140 out of a wrecked truck & getting a control pack to run it all. When my father passed a few years ago he left me $10,000 with the Title and a note that said only use the money to get Cougar road worthy. As I watch these videos about the 7.3 and prices are dropping. The $10,000 might cover a used engine & transmission and the control pack. Thanks for representing Ford and the 7.3 !!!

      @brianwolfe2993 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      To be open, two things to consider, the 10R140 is way to big and you would have to cut the floor up a lot to make it fit. A better choice would be a 6R80. However, if the car is original you may want to consider just a freshen on the 390. It seems the all original cars and the highly modified restro-mods are worth the most. Just a thought.

      @lumbeewarrior2560 yes with a set of ported heads or with a big enough cam like 240+ @ .050. BTW I'm a engine Lover and was looking at Godzilla from a engine stand point. Again the heads suck ass... Shawn "Hooper Heads" and Darin Morgan who stated that's what Godzilla needed. 🤐 Darin did a Ls7 head for my 408 with a .030 bore. Ls7 heads don't fit nothing but a 4.125 Ls7 block.

    Personally, I don't think the battle is with the LS engine, it's with the Ford 460. I wouldn't put an LS in any of my Fords, but a 460 of course. I just can't see where you are ahead in money or horsepower putting a Zilla where a 460 was or could be. I live in a metro area; I haven't seen a 7.3 for sale at any price around here. 460's, though, pop up regularly. Aftermarket parts are a fraction of the cost, engine mounts and headers are easy, and you don't need to spend thousands on a 10R trans. Lots of power recipes and support in the 460 forums., too. Somebody convince me otherwise please.

      The advantage of a Godzilla is a smaller lighter package that seals up well. The 385 series is beast of engine I have one in a f350 they don't fit well in many cars. It all comes down to the proper tool for the job.

    • @AK_Ray
      @AK_Ray 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Better, stronger, more trans choices with the Zilla. Significantly stronger engine. Stock heads are good to 1000 hp.
      You can't just do a cam swap and get 650hp out of a 460. Their stock heads just won't flow it.

      @@j.e.d.8065 Did you see how badly Evan and his pals had to butcher that poor Cyclone to get the Zilla In? A 460 would have been a drop-in. Tight, but no cutting.

      @413x398 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@AK_Ray You can do aftermarket heads and still be less $ than a Zilla. Or, you can be sitting on D0OE-R and D2OE-R heads like myself. And you don't need to monkey with FI and electronics. The money you save on that will stroke that 460 to a 557.

    Thank-you for the video. It helped me decide to go 7.3 vs building a 408 stroker even though I already had the Windsor. Got my block from G-core. One of the last they had in stock. Apparently the video drove sales and wiped them out. Was 2k, but I didn’t ask for Erv. Still much cheaper than a new longblock. Is the chassis crank damper a ford factory pulley or something different? I was able to find fuel rails and injectors for the similar price posted, but was curious if the injectors needed to be upsized to support 600+ hp? Maybe have to use a 2011-2014 GT 500 injector? One has been out since 2011, the other 2020. Wolfe has already made 1600 with a class limited procharged 7.3. Give it time, these 7.3’s will be right there with the coyote

    I mean you comparison is stupid because high hp na builds are not what people are doing with ls you get a junkyard ls for like $500,$600 and if you are just dyno running it you just need injectors so a couple hundred dollars and you need a cam and springs so like $500 and a china gt45 for sub $200 and a waste gate and if you can weld you can do it cheaper but if not for like $300 you can get header manifolds and so for about $2000 you can make like 700hp so no its not really hurting the ls any

    I love how ford fanboys are always trying to " destroy the LS ". Until coyote or godzilla cores are 2-$300 you will NEVER destroy the LS, no matter what tricks you try to use. Take for example this $1500 core, it's REALLY a $4000 dollar core by the time you spent 20 hrs cleaning and honing it. Add your $3700(?) plus that $4000 core and you can buy a pretty nice brand new LS crate motor and never get a dirty finger. If you don't want to consider your time valuable, you are a fool. Then there is the packaging problems of the coyote and godzilla,and the fact that godzillas don't hold up when making big power. If they did McFlurry would still have a godzilla in it and Cleetus wouldn't have spent $30,000 converting it to a coyote....

      So you’re basing the durability of an entire platform on one guy?

    • @RyTrapp0

      Cleetus makes 1500+HP and has some head sealing issues that they never bothered to figure out(cuz, ya know, he's busy making YT videos, not developing new engine platforms...), so that means that "Godzillas can't hold big power"...😂
      I guess that means Lencos are garbage transmissions too since they went to a TH400, right🤣
      And lets just completely ignore how long it took for Coyotes to actually make 'big power' - the first 3 or 4 years everyone was saying that "the blocks are only good for a little over a thousand HP" and that the 4.6l was a better 'big power' platform lmao
      What a truly awful take

      Your points are valid, but a 625 HP LS crate engine at Summit is about $15,000. If you do not have the time or knowledge then this is not for you. But there are a lot of people that take pride in doing their own build, built not bought.

      @@bdd1469 you made a valid point about labor, but that can be said for any DIY project. If you redo a bathroom in your house you can save money but you give up your time. And there's the satisfaction of doing it yourself vs paying someone else. And I wouldn't judge someone either way. And with all due respect, your "tiny" portion of the comment is not a good example of the durability of an engine. Cleetus spent very little time with the Godzilla. Pro Stock teams break engines and they have been racing the same platform for 30 years. Does that mean Pro Stock engines aren't durable? You bring up a lot of solid points, but the simple answer is don't build one. Different strokes for different folks. The LS is a great engine and a great platform, we all know that even if we have a little fun poking it.
