I've just returned to watching football. Love all the changes. I'm 68 so grew up watching B. Starr, and Joe Namath. Hadn't seen any football until 1995, when I was impressed by how much improvement in overall athleticism was obvious. Since then, I'd not seen any. Only just this season really began to watch, thank you TH-cam! The leaps forward in athleticism is jawdropping! I am also impressed by how helmets, their tech, have improved. Haven't wrapped my head around how often helmets come off players during plays. Why is that? I am curious about the tech in affixing the faceguard. That seems like an old school hang on!!! Having the face guard able to move, attached to a shock absorbing point rather than a snap seem like a win! Thanks for the video. Nice to know that safety is being followed up on!
This has evolved very rapidly, when I play in the 1960s everyone had basically the same helmet I’m not so sure how many sizes there were, maybe 3? Now it’s by position and custom fitted to each individual player, simply astonishing and the safety has increased exponentially. Thanks for the education
Football helmet changes are GREAT! I’m 69 and I broke 7 different helmets by my senior year of high school and now I’m suffering from osteoarthritis from the base of my neck to the base of my butt and over $50k of surgery on my nose and jaw. This is GREAT news!
I played in the mid 70’s to mid to late 80’s. Believe me when I tell you I am paying for the position I played. I always played Noseguard on defense and Guard on Offense. I was in on some punts. Other than that never came off the field. I have had my neck fused from C-2 to T-2 and my back fused from L-2 to S-1. I have one level to turn my neck. I am very careful the way I turn my head because I really don’t want to mess that up. The pain is unbearable most of the time and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone. I really wish we had this technology back in the day to help prevent some of these injuries. Back then they thought the bigger the better. That’s why some guys had a car grille on their helmet called a face mask.
650 is cheaper than 700 and the f7 2.0 professional is 650 and and the collegiate version is 499. But take into consideration that LIGHTS helmets weigh almost 3-3.5 pound less than those helmets which is a big factor to think about because heavier helmets do not equate to safer helmets.
Also moving forward I know for youth football the the standard approved by NOCSAE for helmets is 3.5 lbs or less so schutt riddell and xenith are gonna have to get their helmets at or below that weight in the near future
I probably would have stuck to football if I had a helmet that weighed 3lbs instead of the massive 10-lb full cage lids they gave us. Between those and the massive shoulder pads, it was like the most extreme exercise you could imagine but with an extra 25-lb dumbbell tied around your neck.
Hey footballrs I just saw that under armour released some new lineman cleats im pretty sure their called the adizero chaos. I was just wondering if we could possibly see a review of them. Thanks
When vicis first came out NFL players barely wore it, now I see a lot more college & nfl players wearing it . Riddell is the most used helmet but it’s also sponsored by the NFL which is why so many people wear them
3d printing is for rapid prototyping. I wouldn’t trust that helmet at all, that helmet would be good for maybe 1 impact before you’d need to swap the entire liner due to the layer lines shearing and you just have floating plastic in a shell.
Either Tony has to go to the bathroom and wants to finish this video before he goes or he has to get to the airport in 10 minutes. I cannot think of any other reasons why he felt like he had to talk this fast. Well.....maybe a couple of other reasons. But if he really believes that the information he is giving us is worth listening to, then he should take more time in giving us the information.
Unfortunately my playing Days coming to an End so I don't need a new Helmet for my last Year...otherwise this Light Helmet would be definitely a candidate for a new Helmet
Dude didn't even mention any evidence that it reduces brain injuries. Thats because it doesn’t and is why parents should not allow their children to play football
A lot of things are dangerous. Life is dangerous. Protect the best you can, but let them live their life with guidance from you. They won't live well in the bubble you create.
@dt1064 it's just a bubble with no tackle football. They can play flag football, soccer, ultimate frisbee, track, field, swimming, tennis, pickle ball, ping pong, whitewater kayak, flat water kayaking, basketball, baseball, mountain bike, road biking, gymnastics...
Xenith is far above all other brands Light is stealing from Zenith Our 8-12 youth have been wearing Zenith products over the last 10 years This is a Xenith knockoff PERIOD!!!!!

I remember late 70’s early 80’s Bike Airs were all the rage! And Riddell head squeezers!😂
We need to incorporate the 90s Riddell & Schutt face masks
Dude didn’t even mention how light it is compared to the others top 5 helmets. Almost half the weight compared to some
The model mask you have is the px3 the sk3 doesn’t have the second bar going horizontally
Light helmets look clean. If I was still playing. I would definitely think about a Light helmet! Thanks for the video!
They look like vicis helmets with less passing on the inside

It also honestly looks better than a speedflex too

It’s also only $649 which is a lot cheaper than most of the top helmets
Are you crazy? The speed flex costs like 700 and the F7 is like 500

Um...Gladiator ATK Helmet Bundle: $999.00 Ugh...can't do that.
@@markpostma6615 the Apache is rated better than the gladiator atk and is cheaper so just get the Apache.
ngl riddel or some big company is gonna buy out lights technology
Is it true that Xenith is going out of business starting January? You able to shed some light on this?
Forgot about the riddell 360 between the speed and speedflex
If they r using the same shell, I wonder if they would offer a complete replacement of the padding????

That would be adidas not under armour but yes we will!
@Footballrs 😅 Sorry, adidas I mean.
Can you do what Jordan Addison wears on the field?
How many carbon fiber helmets are on the market now?
bots keep getting crazier
True
Trueeeeee
Light helmets look pretty cool but I feel like a Vicis would be a. Better option
They send you with nice looking facemask that they even do not sell on their homepage..
Saw it on catelog, maybe have to talk to sales asking.
I understand they might just selling common facemasks online for smaller the storage..
@@Vinegarchipsinbag the new masks are up on their website
I love footballers
