An obstacle detection level crossing located within Grimsby, this one found away from the main town centre at the entrance to the docks and Port of Grimsby. It is located on a tight railway bend in between Grimsby Docks and New Clee Stations, and there is a third guide rail here for safety, as well as a slow line speed. The level crossing equipment dates back to re-signalling on the line which happened in 2015. At this level crossing are four loud alarms, four long barriers, and four LED wigwags which have long shades for the red lights. This level crossing is rather wide as it is relatively frequently used by heavy goods vehicles accessing the port, and the whole level crossing itself is located on a sweeping road bend.
In clear view of this level crossing is the Grimsby Dock Tower, a unique landmark which can be seen from across Grimsby and in some of the surrounding areas. The immediate surroundings to this level crossing are rather run-down, dirty, and dilapidated.
Thanks for watching!
Great video 👍
Thanks! 👍👍
Fact: Before this line was resignalled, this used to have a thin wigwag in the middle of the road, and a pedestrian light! It used to have a white bordered halogen traffic light wigwag and GWE 5th Gen’s from a Google Maps pic from 2009! Also, all the Grimsby crossings used to be controlled from the old Grimsby Pasture Street crossing signal box, demolished in late 2015.
I've seen the 2009 streetview quite a lot, but the setup you mentioned that I most remember was the one that this current obstacle detection setup replaced in 2015. I went to it myself back in 2012 but wasn't filming, and in my opinion, I liked that crossing quite a lot more than what's here currently (can remember it being one of my favourites at the time to be honest). I can remember all the others in Grimsby pre-resignalling too as I went to those as well.
Awesome video mate👍😀
Thanks very much!
