My grandmother was from Ballybunion. She immigrated with my grandfather to South Dakota more than a 100 years ago. I visited County Kerry and it's very beautiful, however the sea is scary. I now live in Montana.
Such a tragedy that the icon that was the old "Castle" is now a runt! It is like chopping off the right arm and head of the Statue of Liberty for New York or truncating the Eiffel Tower to its lower two levels for Paris.

It still remains an iconic symbol even if you disapprove. It also doesn't alter the message about the tragic state of the old Castle ruin that has been the symbol of Ballybunion for hundreds of years.
