Hardest working artist of the Decade (not forgetting songwriter and producer). By 1996 she'd released: a debut album, second album, EP, the Music Box album, the Xmas album, Daydream, the alter-rock album, Endless Love with Luther and 🦋 being less than a year away❤❤❤
She always told the same stories thru out her career. She never changed it up. She only became more revealing as time went by. ESPECIALLY when the memoir came out. Reading the book helped me realize she always told her truth but she was downplaying her struggles early on in her career. We only understood the magnitude of what she was talking about after the revelations in the memoir.
6:16 He asked if she is good example of "American dream" . Her face changed quickly from fake smile and "I guess so " to sadness. Clearly she was holding back her unhappiness in private life. All her interviews before her divorce seem professionally forced and that she is following a script. Good to know she is happy now. Those French-English questions were not easy to follow either kudos to her for trying to make sense of it.
18:38 the smiling and radiant facade dropped quickly and dramatically. She was miserable. I’m glad she left Mottola and eventually the whole situation with Sony.
Omg I wish he was better with asking about When I Saw You because I don’t think she understood his question and I’m dying to know what she’d say cause like she mentioned nobody asks about that song.
You can tell she just wasn’t herself back with these interviews she wasn’t having fun her mind was just working it’s really sad dying inside people thinks she changed but she just wasn’t being herself then she was young taken advantage of her whole career now she tries to lookout for her n people can’t take a woman being in control she has to be a diva not thankful whatever
She’s looking at herself in the monitor lol. She does this a LOT in interviews. You’ll notice she usually moves her hair or adjusts her clothes or some thing after looking ahead at the monitor
This is probably the last year she gave a F about interviews. After that she started laying down and combining interviews with rest time 😂 Can’t blame her though, they were working her too hard. She was always very professional and polite though. Even after she stopped giving a F 😂😂 People fail to realize she hasn’t changed though, she stayed the same person and she just lets more of herself come out now.
You are right lol but i think its also because she could finally be herself in ever aspect from 1997 after the divorce. She probably had to follow a strict interview rules before that.
@@Jamal_OG I agree with that. She had to be obedient until 97/98. She was always so good at interviewing though. Even when she just came out. And she still is incredible.
It's funny how she intimates the reporter just by sitting there. The hesitation of his questions. They needed a professional reporter, not an amateur when asking questions. And get your equipment working properly, get your shit together media.
Her record sales in the 90s were insane 😮😮😮 24 million for Music Box and 16 million for Daydream by early 1996 is nuts.
You can tell she was going through a lot and pushing a lot of forced emotions. It relieves me to know she's a much happier person at the moment.
For sure. I bet this and videos like it would be painful for her to watch. She definitely seems sad and drained. I am so glad she's free!

In six years
Wow she really does give insights into her struggles with getting more rnb with daydream …. Producing …. First album …. She’s so clever and resilient

@@AchillesandArtemis Indeed. She had to walk the tightrope between being controlled and just wanting to write and sing.
She was on top of the world here in 1996 little did we know the abuse and how she was on survival mode here suffering sleeping with the Devil
She looks like barbie here and color tones are serving 😂
she looks so gorgeous! and that voice!

This was amazing
I realise that in the end she was tired or maybe over stressed after the interview
Tired from doing 100 interviews probably - amazing woman

Mariah seemed over it, by 96. Look at the pics she took with Tommy, that year. The body language says it all.
she's soo cute

Exhausting being in character whilst also being exhausted in every sense possible. You can see she’s not even present just in autopilot. It’s sad.
I have a love / hate feeling for Tommy. He helped make Mariah but also helped break her too.
I like her outfit and her hair was everything ❤❤❤
She looks so posh and elegant here.
Perfect description, she does!
Wow. I heard Can't take that away and my saving grace in this interview

Gotta give him a lil break, he's thinking twice as hard cause he has to translate his thoughts into English words.
@@ArtbyKurtisEdwards yea totally I’m not upset with him just wishing the answer was understood by her 🤣
Thank you soo much for these videos the audio is always really quiet though
Just for the interviewers lol idk why

In some of her interviews promoting the Christmas album, she’s sitting on a long sofa, halfway to the eventual lounging …
