  • We are LOVING our Harvest Right freeze dryer. In this video we freeze dried and taste tested some strawberries, kiwi, bananas, and pineapple. We just stored these in mason jars becase we will be snacking on them this week but you could store them for long term use in mylar bags as well. They can be used for snacking just like they are or reconstituted to use any way you would fresh fruit and the best part is that it tastes exactly like it did before it was freeze dried once you reconstitute it. They would also be great in smoothies or powdered and used for flavoring.

Hello guys!! I stumbled across your channel but so happy I did!! Someone said that milk taste just like milk!!?? I’d love to know if that’s true

Hello and welcome! We're so happy you did too! Milk tastes exactly like it did before it was freeze dried once it's reconstituted. It is nothing like powdered milk from the store and it is one of our favorite things to do in the freeze dryer.

When you store in the jars, do you have to use a oxygen absorber? You may have said and I missed it. Great Video!

Thank you! We don’t use an oxygen absorber in the ones we’re using right away because we’re opening and closing the jar so much. We have found that fruit in the past has only lasted between 1 and 2 weeks with us getting in and out of the jars over and over because it will absorb moisture and get sticky and start to go bad. We do use them in the jars when storing for long periods of time and they can last many years this way.

@@Henleehomestead yes, but in jars for longer storage time, save your oxygen absorber and vacuum seal it.

How do you grind them down into a powder?

Does fruit become crispy when freeze dried?

It’s is very crispy when freeze dried. You can eat it crispy or you can put it in water to bring it back to its original state and eat it like that too.
