I have been a strong advocate of AG football boots for anyone that regularly plays on artificial grass. They'll typically be more comfortable, should last longer and by far most importantly, should be a lot safer, helping reduce your potential risk of injury. With that said, not all AG stud patterns are equal.
In today's video we take a closer look at the new Adidas F50 Elite with the AG stud pattern, where not unlike other recent AG releases from Adidas, it raises some questions on how they would be any different from the FG version. We go over all the details of the boots, compare them to the FG version, and determine whether or not you should be considering the AG F50 Elite at all!

If the FG pair breaks and you used them on AG, the warranty is void.. but if you use AG on FG, the warranty stays.. just to consider
how the fuck are they gonna know?
@@top5tings on good AG pitch it is hard to guess.. but sometimes gum bits leave marks, and studs wear out differently than on FG
@@jmes22 clean them aand go and wear them on a muddy pitch lol just use some cheap or old boots for 3 and 4g
I just got the AG because the length of the studs are good for FG too
AG can be use for AG and FG..go for AG..save your knee and ankle and money😂
Those studs are almost identical to the Magista FG soleplate
My biggest problem with Adidas is that they don't make more than one colorway for AG models, and their AG models are not that specialized compared to FG. Which tempts me a lot to use FG model to use the beautiful colorway models. Nike never gave me this problem since they make AG models for all models. I almost always play on AG so I used to get AG models for Nike, but with Adidas, it's been hard because all the colorways I want do not have the AG model.
Personally wore the AG version for 5 sessions on turf and crappy grass fields. Had no issues whatsoever, good traction, and knees felt good with no stud pressure. Would highly recommend them over the bladed studs if you are looking at the f50s.
All boots should have conical studs so i dont get stabbed every time i get stepped on tbh
Got stepped on by a bro w mercs last weekend and that hurt so f’ing bad 😅
fuck that bring back the metal blades like the original manias
@@top5tings those things look so deadly 😂
@GoodWillRacing yep I used to stamp my authority on games when I was a kid win the ball and follow through 😂 I had the champagne ones with red tounge
Some of these designs are ridiculous and downright dangerous
If you play on both surfaces, it's automatically an AG that you need. You knees are worth more than any BS you may hear on the net. My Left ACL could speak volumes about it....
What boots were you wearing ?
@@npc2k The last generation of the F50 in 2017. They were in white leather and FG studs...
as someone who has had acl surgery the AG ones looks more appealing for FG and AG players
ACL victim and I have stuck with turf boots, and they’re life savers
Meniscus victim here, AG for rainy days only and turf for all year around.
@@STRIKAA313 these looks like the perfect hybrid of ag/fg
There are another ag stud patern for the f50s and I think those are called the 2g/3g version. But they don't have great availability especially for the elite model.
Hey bro long time watcher been paying attention to this channel since I was maybe 13? 2014 I got the pink hypervenoms and remember your vids hahah any chance you’d maybe give us some content about boots you’ve played with over the years and the standouts, I love admiring old boots haha
i’m definitely due for some new boots. Had ACL surgery 2 years ago but i feel great now and have basically only been using ag boots on turf and it’s been a life saver. Should I get these or wait for the new gen mercs to come out in july?
I guess you should just get the turf versions for use on AG once they come out.
as someone who’s used the ag plate more than once now they’re great i highly recommend them over fg
Are you getting any of the stud Pressure Josh was talking about?
@@tn7328 nonexistent to me boss like i said they’re perfect
@@Ricksterthetricksteryou didn’t say they were perfect before? 😂
Agreed. Josh is wrong here (which is rare)
@@rrao1128it’s not that he’s wrong, it just varies person to person. Maybe for the commenter, they’re perfect but for Josh they just dont fit well 🤷🏽♂️
Is the f50 pro fg safe to use on ag? If not do you know if a ag version is releasing for the pros?
Hey Josh Are you planning to review the f50 league laceless model ?
Jeff, surely the soleplate is much more similar to the Magista Obra/Opus 2... with the conical studs and the blades that form a circle
Is turf with the pellets a usual thing? Im new to this ‘not natural’ grass field thing. I started playing again after 20 years in a different state, where theres turf but with pellets. I ended up buying ag boots for it but quickly found out turf shoes are a better option. Just curious.
Hey can you do a review on the new balance tekela v4 magique looking to get a pair of those
Hey Josh had a question. I wear a size 8.5 or 9 depending on the cleats. For example I wear 8.5 with tiempos but 9 with mercurials. I want to get the new Phantom GX 2 and not sure what size to get. Any help would be appreciated
Josh is looking jacked!!💪🙌
Conical studs are the safest AG studs. Nike, Mizuno, Puma and New Balance use them. The F50 AG stud length don't look any longer than Nike or New Balance's AG studs.
I think the point is to send a test bed out to the consumer base for the soleplate with the circle studs getup. So probably more for adidas benefit than ours.
If they were always planning on releasing this AG stud pattern, then why on earth would they not make the FG pattern more aggressive like a fully bladded setup??
That’s a great question
They should bring back TRX sole
And the telstars
My F50's are going back. Not impressed with the way they feel on feet. Too stiff for my liking and just doesn't feel comfortable. Also I don't trust the AG plate. Studs are too long and too few. Don't want to try and break them in and risk not liking them later, especially at this price. Mizuno just launched a Blue colour Alpha so will be ordering that in AG. The Alpha FG version I tried was very comfortable and much better boot than these f50's in my opinion.
The ag misunl doesn’t feel very good on new genetarion ag pitches. Just to considers. You can pivot into the pitch and you don’t feel secure, is to much ag for saying in a word. The best ag is Nike.
Hello, do the boots fit well? I mean, if I'm 2.5 feet tall and I buy 2.5, will it fit me well?
I play with FG version in both surface FG/AG . They are great
So i asked you to review these last week before i copped ‘em. I actually bought them before the vid and i felt much less stud pressure with the AG than the FG, its possible my foot shape is weird but i did find more comfort in the AG. COP the AG lads.
Foot shape would definitely be a contributing factor in stud pressure. Like I said in the video, I wouldn’t say that stud pressure is a deal breaker issue here, but I can feel the studs underfoot more on the AG model compared to the FG.
@@Soccerreviewsforyou I’ll pay attention next time I play
Please review the F50 Pro Turf
Shoes!
They look really interesting. Have a different outsole compared to the pred and Copa
What boots would you say have a narrow midfoot and a wide forefoot?
I just purchased the f50+ but I don’t see any reviews yet.
Thank you so much for the review. Was waiting for this. To be honest, just looking at the soulplate you can tell that the studs are too long and there are too few. Also the stud pressure is a massive dealbreaker for me :(. How can a billion dollar company mess up so badly? My AG F50's are finally coming tomorrow but after seeing this review I might just return them
It’s definitely too few studs. Right now the only truly AG boots that I can think of are the AG Nike Academy models. The AG-Pro of their Elite models also have too few studs. I love my Vapor 14 Elite with AG soleplate. Along with the Superfly of the same generation and the Legend 9 were the last time Nike made a truly AG soleplate for their Elite models.
@@All_About_the_Benjamins The AG-pro on the GX model was fine to be honest. The studs were very short. I wasn't a fan of the upper which is why I returned them but I thought the soleplate was ok from memory. Not the best, but definitely better than Adidas's
Josh stop it! This is my favorite stud pattern! I chose these over fg. I was happy to see them f50 come out with this stud pattern
2:32 they remind me more of the magista 2
There is a MG version of the shoe should I that one?
Where’s the plus’s?
With the same price, why don't they just make the AG sole plate as appealing as the FG version?
The heel counter and soleplate looks boring on AG version.
2g/3g is the way to go. Also. Every single TF boot would be better it their sole plate was replaced by mundial team's sole plate. would be a market changer if they added lighstrike in the midsole. Adidas, I will take 15% because I made all the work.
Hey Josh, are going to review the new Copa Gloro? They look very cheap, to be honest 😢
I will be, yes!
I have the ag plate and the stud pressure sucks
How do you mean?
Is the mg version the best for ag?
No the ag version is.
Hey Josh, will you make a comparison between the F50 Elite and X Speedflow.1?
Adidas has been really lazy with AG models. single colorways for all series, stud patterns that is far below other brands standards, and bad quality control with predator models...
It's stupid. They know how to many AG soleplates as they've done so in the past. Don't know why they are being so stubborn, the market must be there. They release every colourway of every model in pro, league, club and kids classes but AG version of elite models get no love at all.
That’s just a Magista Obra 2 stud pattern 😂
they just need to bring make the tunits
Josh is the best boot reviewer on YT.
This is probably the HG being marketed as the AG
It wouldn’t be the first time that Adidas has done that.
I wouldn't consider it to be a very good hard ground stud pattern with studs the same length as the FG version.
Best AG cleats? No price limits. Top 5
Wait until the new Mercurials come out in July then make a decision
@@npc2k oh shit thanksssss!! Will wait
Nike Vapor 14 Elite AG, Nike Superfly 8 Elite AG, Nike Legend 9 Elite AG, Mizuno alpha Japan AG (although it sucks that they’re not built exactly like the FG model), and then any of the Nike Academy AG models.
Thank god i didn't buy em, just tried the AG and was thinking of getting em
Lol so Das copied the swoosh hmm. I like it. Also its definitely NOT AG. Clearly
If it was a nike boot.. he will say how its a game changer and so on.. this guy just rates nike boots
❤🔥⚽️😊🙏🇳🇵
