Mass Effect 3 Extended Cut: Control Ending

- Shepard assumes direct control over the Reapers. There are new cutscenes and epilogue slides from the Extended Cut DLC. The galaxy is saved, the Normandy crew survives, and Shepard dies to become a Reaper.
The same Stargazer scene with the old man and kid still occurs after the credits, so I did not include it.
I had ~13500 War Assets/Effective Military Strength (100% Readiness rating through multiplayer). Imported save; RPG mode.

Poor Illusive Man. He survived the first contact war, understood that humanaty needs not only diplomacy, but shield. He created cerberus, learned about the Reapers, decided to harness their power to insure human dominance... and then he used reaper-tech implants for every cerberus trooper and even for himself, got indoctrinated and was killed(by Shepard or by himself). "Nice" life - worked, worked, worked, achieved nothing and died. And he was right after all - the Cruicible could allow to control the Reapers.

What if Renegade Shepard controls the reapers? That would be worse than when harbinger was in control.
When "she" begins with the line: "Eternal,Infinite, Immortal" it speaks volume about the intent behind this ending. Now that the reapers have this new directive "to serve and defend the many" it sets the stage for a utopia ruled by a benevolent dictatorship. I feel that this was a better ending than "destroy", for me this utopia was the more ideal it is structured, efficient, and more permanent! (Opinion is my own)
Did anyone notice that Shepard's voice becomes human again right at the end?
This is probably the saddest/deepest ending of them all. But I think Synthesis is the best option for the galaxy.

This is the best ending so far. Destruction Sheparh survives isn't so Good as this. Even if Harbiger Shepart Sound a Little creppy

can't stop watching this ending! so wonderful to know that I (kinda) will always be there to protect the ones i love (even though it makes me depressed i can never be with my LI) and that last violin note at 10:25 always gets me choked up.
Relax bro. When you get a high EMS to access Synthesis in the first place, I saw that as in invitation from the Reapers to basically join them. This cycle was deemed worthy enough to evolve to higher form.
Notice when you reject Glitterchild outright and say "we have enough power to beat you" you end up telling the next cycle how badly your ass was handed to you? It puts the whole EMS bit you mentioned to shame: no you can't beat the reapers without the reapers help. Two endings tell you this.
One thing I just noticed. Dpending on your EMS, the Normandy will take more damage. My score's around 2800 when I beat it, I think, and my Normandy crashed with alot of Damage, fires and it was partly torn apart during the 'escape' cutscene when you're being chased by the energy cascade. I liked that they put that in.
These are the endings we should've gotten when the game originally shipped. I'm just glad these endings were free. I dont think id've been quite as happy if I had to pay more.
Indeed. They're far from perfect, but I can live with them. My soul doesn't rot and die when I think about Mass Effect now, so they must've done something right.
Overall I think this is the best ending.I still wish there was an ending only for people who had collected all of the single player war assets possible that would allow them to beat back and destroy the reapers.Bioware still owes us that.Part of what makes these games awesome is being able to choose your own way.Bioware simply didn't put in enough paths..I really hope Dragon Age 3 is the best game they have ever made.They really need to pour all their creative juices into that or I fear for them
It's Javik, a Prothean coming from the first DLC of the game : From Ashes. He doesn't replace Ashley at all, in this playthrough she's probably dead because we can see Kaidan which means that DeadShep chose to save him instead of Ashley back to ME1 during the mission on Virmire...

It's a matter of perspective. It's like how some people prefer either the renegade or paragon decision over the other.

There are hints of a new upcoming DLC in which Shepard and Co find either an ancient renegade Reaper or the last survivor of the race than actually made the Catalyst and Reapers, along with repeated refs to Harbinger and its role in the fleet so that may amend things though i agree that he should have been in here from the begining

Still kind of hate how the Starchild and his bullshit are there, but just well done Bioware. My faith has ultimately been restored.
What is "forced evolution"? Species evolve forcefully all of the time due to circumstance. You either evolve or you die; it is just that simple. Synthesis was the best ending in my opinion.
I think Synthesis is the best one because reapers and all races are get along.
If you're talking about the face at the 7:48 mark I always assumed it was Kasumi. The start of the "slideshow" shows all the non-members that couldn't join your crew from what I can tell otherwise their name is on the wall at the end.
Suddenly, Control doesn't seem so bad. I have an idea for Shep's future. She can get a synthetic humanoid body like EDI's whenever she wants to get piss drunk or show off her dancing skills (or lack thereof).
That's why in Mass Effect 4, Harbinger should be the main protagonist, vowing to take revenge on Shepard.

Shepard doesn't exist anymore. Basically the thing controlling the Reapers is the new Catalyst, so to say, because it's a creature that has Shep's memories and thoughts. The Shep we knew is dead >:

in my case paragon was high all reapers became good, and even if he did become tyrant that too will be a hallucination.

Refusal Ending? Dear God, only choose this if your stuck with the Vaporize ending, it's pretty much a better option to kill your cycle then to kill everything in the galaxy with your own weapon xD
Actually... not completely. In the destroy ending, you still get the same scene with Shepard taking a breath with no explanation whatsoever. I don't know if they plan to do anything about this later, but people who believe in the indoctrination theory still can at this point, because Shepard can ONLY live in the destroy choice.
well also in destroyed ending we can see shephard gasping, maybe you're right destroyed one is the real ending.

Holy shit I picked destroy because fuck the reapers, but I like this ending a lot better.
Only thing I didn't like was the way Harbinger was basically cast aside.

I've played the trilogy and had my woman 👠💕 beautiful woman with the Synthesis ending for me when I get to passing the original trilogy for me and had Samantha Traynor for me so I Liara was AWOL for myself when I was playing the game for myself back then for me jejeje 😊❤️💕👏
To be fair though, there is still no good reason for the reapers existence. They are still machines killing organics to stop organics from being killed by machines, and there still wasn't the amount of variation that many had hoped, due to the game being pushed out by EA. However the aftermath is ofcourse infinitely better and with far more clearity of what happend.
Are there still problems? Yes. Are there nearly as many as before? No.

Same. What was the greatest villain in video games became something of an afterthought. I didn't even want a boss fight per se, just a little bit of involvement from Harby. Slightly disappointing.

Disagree. That's because he was indoctrinated since the beginning. Saren had the EXACT SAME eyes as well. As much as I know you'd like to say that he's also partially synthetic, Saren was serving the Reaper's purposes since the beginning. If you paid close attention, he only get's these eyes right before he/she gets vaporized either by using the control panel or dolphin diving into the beam. However, when you go Destroy, his eyes never changed. Why? Because he resisted indoctrination.

Sadly, yes. Sacrifices must be made for the greater good. Sure, the Geth and Edi will die, but you have to remember synthetics were made by organics, so they could do it all over again. Plus that little shit lied. Not all synthetics would die, for example Shepard is partially synthetic, though he he's still alive with enough EMS. Tali is also partially synthetic, Garrus, and others. That little shit made the Destroy ending look like a bad idea and the control one good.

Let's be honest here.the destruction ending makes more sense. I mean all of the reapers just getting up and leaving doesnt visually flow with the cutscene

Hmpf, Having just played all the endings I appreciate the fourth ending they included, at least I got to tell that brat to stick it, plus they also changed the "crashed into an earth like planet" segment from the destroy ending, it now "landed into...". HOWEVER! This fourth ending is not so glorious as you imagine and basically since Bioware lied about not altering endings, shame they did not do something better. Even if you sugar coat a turd, it is still a piece of shit.

The EMS is is there to help you buy time to build the Crucible. Exactly for that, that's what you've been doing the entire time in Mass Effect 3. ''Hey, I help you, and you help me build the Crucible to stop the Reapers.''

Thats were the Extended cut comes and contradicts the IE. It wouldn't make any logical sense, but then again, Synthesis either. Control seemed like a paragon option because of 2 things; 1. The color was blue, synonym to paragon, while Destroy was red, AKA Renegade. Thats how the starbrat tried t trick you visually. He also trys to make it seem like Destroy is a bad option and Control is a good one. just look how he talks about it.
Now I agree. But a little reminder, theres no proof that TIM had any sort of synthetic augmentation. But to go back on Subject, I feel like
Destroy : Good Ending (Considering you didn't vaporized Earth)
Control : Bad Ending (With so much power in Hand, ''Shepard'' would become a tyrant.)
Synthesis : Worst Ending (Forced evolution towards things created by organics? Fail.)
Refuse: EA (BioWare pretty much laughed at us.)
