In this video I will let you know why I would and probably you should too avoid buying the Lexus IS 220d ! Engine problems, gearbox problems and many more.....
I own a 220d as a daily driver. Currently with 300.000km. My experiences have been consistently positive. I removed the DPF and deactivated the EGR. It pulls quite well and the fuel consumption is also OK.
I have the 220d and it has been great! It does have 370 000km on it tho😅. Only problem I have had is leaking fuel hose and broken tank fuel pump relay. Cheap fixes so far. I like the torque as well.
Preface lift models were what got the is220d a bad rep any model after 2009 is fine, mine is remapped, egr delete and dpf delete I get 220 bhp and 525nm of torque with a selection on the cruise control stick to switch between different tunes, I also get 30 mpg on average and would probably be faster than most 250s 🤔 check Leto ecu tuning 140k miles also never had any issues just do simple maintenance
@@Battery-Powered I personally haven’t myself but if I were to guess I’d say anywhere around 6.5s-7.5s down from the original 10.5s Here’s where I got my tune from if you would like to check him out: m.youtube.com/@LETOperformance
I bought a Lexus is220D 2007 in 2017 within 104k miles. Don’t touch this Diesel engine please go for a Lexus petrol Engine. The problem with this car Egr valve&DPF blockage,Steering rack failure,Injector leaking common issues.
Forgot to say melting dashboard, mine is melting and right now I am having problems with the fuel pump and injectors, it is the worst car I ever had, 178000kms, I live in Portugal.
Had mine for 4 years only two tyres and one service, i drive like miss daisy and tank average 40 mpg best car ive had for the money 900 quid 111000, no smoke ,
There is a reason why the used price on Lexus IS 220d is much lower compared to the petrol IS 250 variant ..
So true! I loved my is250

That is great! That shows that not every single 220d is a bad car
i have 220d and i have no problems
That is a good thing!
Me too, I could have picked up a 250 for less easily but I went for the 220d & it's perfect.

I know that more people than not suffer from problems with this model unfortunately.
I’m a Lexus is300h owner and my friend has a is220d and it’s a piece of crap, Lexus will never touch diesel again, thankgod.

There is so many complaints about this car. Hence the reason I decided to make this video. I wish your next car is far more reliable!

160k km on mine, just keeps on chugging along
Iam actually happy to hear that!
Thats nothing, my brother has a is220d with over 380 000 km on the clock. But the head gasket has been replaced at last once
Bettr this than BMW n47
Don’t know if it’s better but it is definitely not worse
