What Would Minecraft Look Like in 4D?

- 4D Miner is a game available for free on Steam, which re-imagines Minecraft from a 3D world into a 4D world! I won't lie I have absolutely no idea how 4D works so I can't really explain why it looks like that... Today we're checking it out, as well as what Minecraft would look like in 2D. Hint: 4D is definitely weirder lol.

Your health bar is actually a Klein Bottle! it's a non-orientable surface, a shape that can technically only exist in 4D space to put it simply. But you can make a 3D replica that isn't the exact same, but it's pretty close.
A 3D Klein bottle is just a single sided shape, but in 4D it literally has no inside or outside.

The klein bottle is a 4D only shape. The part of the tube that is intersecting the bottle is actually in another layer of the fourth dimension.
Fun fact: you cannot represent a 3d thing on a 2d space. You only have the percection of its presence, but actually It doesn't exist

Great that you're showing it off, been following the project for a while and it's honestly amazing
making a 4D house takes a lot of materials, as you'd need walls with 3 dimensions instead of 2. For example a house with an 8x8x8x3 interior space (the infamous wooden box, although here it would be stone because it's vastly more abundant) would require six 10x10x4 exterior walls (2 walls per lateral dimension) and a 10x10x10 roof, requiring 2464 blocks for just the basic box. Stylistic changes like a gable roof take quite a few materials too.
Been following 4D miner on and off for a while, great to see you playing this awesome project!
Also, I'd love to recommend a non-minecraft game; The Upturned! Its a hilarious horror game that blends terrifying combat and goofy characters and dialogue perfectly!

If you're at all interested in horror games, check it out. The dev behind it is super underrated, and deserves way more attention too!

building houses in the 4D minecraft is really wacky and strange, and i feel like there should be a tutorial on how to build it that first starts explaining how to strafe and snap to planes using some hotkeys in the game and also how to locate yourself in the fourth dimension, then start making the house with a 1 dimension lower analogy so it is easier to understand what the tutorial means, since even knowing where u are in the world is hard and u might loose your house very easily
I basically make a "coordinate blueprint" after finding a plot flat enough to build the house without too much terrain leveling. Basically, where to put the walls and what spaces they each occupy. After you get the basic box and wrote down where the door is, you can add things like a 3,4 duoprism roof to make it look better (although the duoprism looks goofy in certain 3d slices), and go into a voxel editor to try and plan out the interior.

Fun fact: the health/blood meter in the bottom left of 4th dimension Minecraft is called a Klein bottle, it’s supposed to be a 4d shape that has no volume therefore can be filled up in the 3rd dimension. Only 4th
The 2D Minecraft shown in that video is called Paper Minecraft. You did not play the game on the site it was originally created on so you didn't see the list of controls, It was made on scratch, and you can get relatively far into it. There is a sorta broken redstone system and a few different biomes. There is no end, you can make a nether portal and go to the nether, but it seems unfinished, and as far as I can tell you can only go to the Nether in creative as you cannot craft the tool necessary to light the portal in survival. I think development might have been halted on the game due to copyright? or maybe the creator just decided to stop.

3:15 "W" is the 4th dimension, you are rotated so that the W axis is visible and the X axis is hidden.

@Squiddo -- that game has changed its name to 4D Miner, since it first came out. The world it's played in is four-dimensional, but what you get to see is only a three-dimensional slice of that four-dimensional world. I hope someday a proper projection of four dimensions will be at least an option. It's something I know can be done because I've done it on very old computers a long time ago, but all I've seen since then is such slice projections

I have a pretty good grasp on extra dimensions, but THAT is not a symptom of it. It's literally a diagonal 2 block pillar.

the triagonal curtains are probably the result of using noise generators for higher dimensions than intended.
Let me explain 4D house building to you with a comparison:
In a two-dimensional world, you build a house with a frame. After all, there is only up-down and left-right. As a 3D being, you can look at this 2D world from the outside, i.e. from the front. The concept of front-back only exists in worlds with at least 3 dimensions. You as a 3D being are not in the 2D house yourself, but you can touch this 2D character in its house without first having to reach through the walls of the house, which seems absurd to the 2D character because it does not understand front-back.
In order for the 2D character to protect itself from 3D access, it would have to build its house (with cubes instead of squares) in 3D around itself. For this, in its eyes, it has to build its house (the frame) several times along the 3rd dimension and completely solid at the beginning and the end, which in reality are the walls in front and back.
Building a house for a 3D character in 4 dimensions (with hypercubes instead of cubes) works the same way. At the beginning and at the end you build your "3D house" completely solid, while in between you simply build it several times along the 4th dimension, depending on how much space you want your house to have in it. This way you could also build several houses in the same place along the 4th dimension.
The 2D minecraft she used first was on Scratch
I'm trying to make a 7D minecraft except I've only gotten a bit into the 4th & 5th dimensions and there's not much to do
1 dimension: straight line
2 dimensions: square(4 lines folded together)
3 dimensions: cube(6 squares folded together)
4 dimensions: tesseract(8 cubes folded together)

when your looking at the game, you see a 3d object since eyes look in 2d. minus the 1 from 4d and you get 3d.
After squiddow's eyes were revealed, she transended into the 4th dimention, even is she has infinite power, the 4th dimention overpowered her
When squiddo asked if 4d is real it is real but even scientists don't know what that is and only label it as allowing you to measure size and shape using time as a size measurement just like how 3d is height width depth when you add time to this mix you get a time loop that makes any level of alterations no longer possible
What a 4d smartphone would look like if you were to get one it would go dead in less than one second and recharge without a power source in a single second and be hyper sensitive to wear and tear and reverts back to being literally good as new after it isn't supposed to be functional
