Something weird seems to have happened in the last few years with this "Freaky Friday" thing between Gibson and Fender QC.
Gibson used to have notoriously bad QC whilst you could invariably count on a Fender being pretty solid right out of the box. Within the last couple of years, the Gibbys I've gotten have been, while not perfect, pretty serviceable straight out of the box while the FMIC stuff have required a bit of work, especially with the frets. Used to be the other way around, especially during the Henry J era of Gibson.
We're talking their American stuff-- Les Paul Standard '60s and '70s Deluxe, Johnny Marr Jaguar and American Pro II Stratocaster. Maybe we all slipped into the Mirror Universe or something.

Thank you for revealing your experiences. My experiences: The Gibson Les Paul Modern Lite I bought was worse than this, but this is not what it should be either. But, the Epiphone Les Paul Custom for example, had better finish quality than Gibson or Fender I have bought. Could be just these my copies tho...

I love the excitement of unboxing a new guitar! A very nice colour (stunning) and this is my preferred headstock size. I've got a Squier Affinity Series Stratocaster, but unfortunately it's not made in California. A very good review and I enjoyed listening to the excellent sounds. A beautiful guitar!

Thank you for commenting again! Affinity is a really good Strat IMO. Great bang for the buck! And yes, this sounds excellent and looks amazing. Good guitar to me!

For tuning stability, you can tighten the tremolo screws after taking off the back plate. It will make it so you have less range moving up with the trem, but should improve that stability. Fenders are kind of notorious for that. Locking tuners are also an option.
One question on the frets - are they rough ends, or are they sprouting? I have almost that exact guitar (right down to the honey burst finish), and my frets were smooth out of the box, but I saw a tiny bit of fret sprout when summer came and the air dried out. I guess it makes the neck wood shrink a little.

Thank you for taking the time to give tips. I'll first apply some graphite to the nut. Then I'll tighten the screws. Then...well, let's see then, haha.
I think these are just a bit rough. They were like this out of the box. But, in Finland, winter time is extremely dry (bought this in winter), here the spring and summer humidity is a lot higher. So let's see what happens.

It takes a while to lock the strings in. If you whammy a lot they will lose it more frequently. I spent $30 and got a set of locking Fender tuners

That's true. Thank you for taking the time to point that out! I've now had this for 2 months. Same thing still. I will try to apply some graphite to the nut...maybe that will work. Humidity changes can also cause this stuff.

I just bought the same Strat 2 weeks ago, only difference is I went with the light mint pick guard just because I liked the way it looked. Love the guitar tho, I picked up the Fender Mustang LT50 amp with it and what a pair, been having a lot of fun with them

That sounds awesome. I think LT50 is an excellent fit with this axe. Have fun with it! Thank you for commenting!

Good luck with your guitar. Its got a lovely body. I sold my american strat it annoyed me because I spent £1300 on it and no single part of my guitar was worth £500. So it annoyed me. Bought a Jackson and never looked back. I got 3 Jacksons now. Two of them new - cost me £450, and I prefer them over my old fender. But I think it also comes down to the type of music we all play, right tool for the job and all that...

I agree, this looks stunning. I like how it sounds too. Jacksons are amazing, I do like them more than Fenders BTW. My first Jackson was JS22 Dinky. It was amazing for the price ($200). I'm hoping to buy a budget-level Rhoads V soon and make videos about it. I have been wanting one for years. Thank you for commenting!

Ironically Jackson's are Fenders. Made by the same company

The ends of jumbo frets, as on the Performer always feel rougher than medium jumbo. They need to be shaped with less angle to keep the 2 outside strings from sliding off the edge of the fingerboard.

I got a brand new American Pro II strat with sharp rough frets. Think of buying a new Fender guitar as buying a "project".

hmmm.... that doesn't sound good. Those costs close to $2k here in Finland. In the future, I will just return faulty and say "this doesn't work for this price". Because if I don't, the quality can get even worse...thank you for commenting!

What kind of psychopath opens the gig-bag pockets before removing the guitar? 😎

That big ridiculous headstock is one hell of a dealbreaker on this model.
I wish Fender would get rid of it on these.

Fender player plus guitar would be better and would cost less money.
