I really appreciate the detailed video that you did for us. I certainly may have given up on the map if I had not seen you demonstrate some of the tricks required :) I usually like the detailed European maps, but this may be a first for me with a US based map. There is so much to do and see on the map. Thanks again for showing us around.
This map creator is brilliant! lots of hard work went into these maps and its much appreciated. not many maps out that I dont have to spend a couple weeks editing for my liking. Emerald Coast, Nebraska Lands and Mid Town USA require nothing but jumping right in and enjoying. Thanks
Thank you for the fine video Farmer Klein. After watching the video I feel that I had all of the info I needed to decide if I was going to want to play this map. Many players will find this map enjoyable. I can't recommend it for users of the Courseplay and players that like to use North American style Hopper trailers like the Lode King Distinction or the Wilson Pacesetter. I could not use hopper trailers for grain due to the positioning of the sales points at two locations, Agri Wholesalers and Midtown Feed. At this point Courseplay is having problems reversing trailers accurately into a tight locations and does not provide for placing a delay to wait for the pit covers to open. Also trains that cannot be stopped cause problems on transport routes.
That's correct. not all sell points accept all trailer types which is something faced in real life often times so knowing where your taking things and their limitations is important. The trains are not standard FS trains they use a custom train script and they run on specific schedules so unlike regular trains that just loop these will start and stop off the map.
@@FarmerKlein I haven't tried to remove GtX's train script on this map and that might possibly fix the demolition derby between trains and trucks that happens with Courseplay at harvest and during mid-summer in the Seasons mod when Corn and Soybean prices are at their peak. I have only tried this on the County Line map which used a different script and removing that script caused issues with the Follow Me mod in that the follower would stop on the track when crossing. The Vanilla type of trains were no problem because loading the train with a couple of liters of grain would keep them from moving. Living in Nebraska and knowing Farmers and Elevator operators I don't think they use grain dumping areas that require reversing to dump. Lines at the elevators can reach 2-3 hours or more during harvest and slowing the process by having truck operators of varying skill reverse to unload would slow the process.
The "elevators" on Midtown are not all "standard" style as a typical grain elevator in Nebraska (such as I placed in Nebraska Lands) for example the Agri Wholesalers and the Midtown Feed are NOT grain elevators at all, they are businesses which happen to accept SOME grain products. As you have noticed, the COOP is a typical grain elevator and does have a drive through tip point similar to most real life setups... As for the trains, they do have traffic blocking triggers and crossbars that come down, to prevent traffic from crossing when the train goes by. For those who "hate" realistic trains, they can be simply disabled by commenting out the train script in the map's modDesc.xml. Having lived in the Midwest and on farms for much of my life, I design maps to be as realistic as possible, not to cater to automation like courseplay.
@@willnone4892 Thanks, it's good to know that I can comment out the train script. To those of you interested in how to comment out (disable) a script on your own playthrough I recommend seeing Farmer Klein's video "How To: Disable Dynamic Mud" to get you started.
Just discovered this map about a month ago. So far I managed to figure most of it out, but found your video and thought it would help me answer one question that I had. While I learned a lot of things I didn't know, like having to buy the little strip of land near the flour mill, I still have one question that your video didn't answer and didn't even address at all. The main silo complex at the big arable farm, you mentioned it at 1:12:00 as a "standard" silo, but it is actually more than that. It is also a corn dryer managed with the GC script. In order to dry corn you need to add propane, and of course corn, to it. There are two ways to add propane. You can buy Propane pallets in the store, but you're also supposed to be able to buy it in bulk. There is a bulk propane buy point NE of the farm. You were there at 23:35. The propane tank there actually has a trigger and you are supposed to be able to buy bulk propane there. The question I have is what do you use to transport the propane? I can't find anything that transports propane. I suppose I can edit any tanker to carry it myself, but was wondering there was a propane tanker out there I missed. I was wondering if since making this video a year ago if you discovered the bulk propane and have any recommendations for how to transport it?
This map 100% does not use GC. The version you have is an update to the video that did not include a corn dryer initially. I have not played his maps after he added the dryer to recall if he included a tank to haul propane or not. I will see about having him circle back to this comment for ya.
@@FarmerKlein OK Figured it out. It looks like the anhydrous tankers have been modified to accept propane. Just delivered propane to the corn dryer. Should have figured that out sooner. I was looking for a dedicated propane tanker.
The Center Section of the map is the Giants designed Westbridge Hills Map from FS13 & 15. The Train, the Downtown area and most of the fields are in the same positions. Land area was added to the north, south, east and west of the central area to make the map 4 times as large as the original 2km x 2km map. Pull up a screenshot of the Westbridge Hills map and compare it to the middle of the Midtown USA map and you will see where its base map comes from. Westbridge Hills is one of my favorite FS maps and bigger is better so no doubt this will be a great map. From Farmer Kleins tour it looks like the modders did a nice job on it.
yes your correct the overall layout has its roots with wesbridge hills but it by far is not just westbridge hills with additional land around it. there is a custom train script in place unique train track signals (not road crossings) among other changes.
