A n63 8hp70 converter is very different, not interchangeable in place of a n57 8hp70 converter. However to answer your questions, i have never seen a 50 converter that would be a direct replacement (same physical size) as a 70. but there is a possibility there are some out there i dont know about.
I'm really interested in this tcu and live in the USA but I'm worried about the online support in case something goes wrong. I've visited the Lamik website and it's very basic with not much information about how to set up the tcu. 1uz Z32 with dodge charger zf8hp70 swap.
It can run independantly. However specific engine data must be fed to the controler and then an internal tq map created, so the controller knows tq being produced at any time. The trans has to manage tq from the engine and different amounts of tq requires different pressures applied to each clutch then different line pressure based on the combination of clutches being used at any time. So having an accurate tq value is what is is important. But you can do this with basic data TPS, MAP and RPM.
Dan says he stress test...what an understatement LOL............anyway....TO PROSPERITY AND BEYOND GUYS!!! btw.....can i put a Lamik-ed 8HP in my 4th gen Lexus GS350??

Yes, check out the drift build series in the description. We were amazed with how real we got the clutch to feel. Often people who have test driven the car, by instinct use the clutch to change gear if they use the clutch to start moving.
We can ship the TCU now, but are really struggling to get good rates on larger items, like an entire trans. Mind you the trans would be cheaper to get in the states anyway. Shoot me an email if you would like to place an order.
Yes there is.... apparantly. The N63 v8 8hp70 is very close to fitting a M62. We actually have one of those boxes in stock, to check the bell housing fit ment to S62, S65 and S85 fitment specificially. It wont bolt on, but it should be close.
You realize that X5 has a transmission with a center differential attached to it? It is different from a regular 5HP and 6HP. It's not gonna be as easy as in RWD cars.
@@darek4488The transfer cases between the chassis is very similar. I know someone who has bolted a 8hp up to a 6hp transfer case. There are few ways to make it work in the pre lci e53.
The transfercase of the nv125 should work as should a transfercase of an atc300-500. Regarding the gearbox, no the n63 one doesnt bolt up without an adapter...unfortunately. i have the parts for an e34 540iAT lying around and im going with the jaguar dw93 box...because it has a large bellhousing and matches with an adapter, very well to the m60/62 and s62. However itll work with the bmw n63 or n57 box too just the adapter is another one. Not if you want to go fast and be reliable. The DCT is a great trans for lower power cars. But to get them to hold the power a 8hp70 will hold, you need very expensive clutches and even then they wont last long.
I don’t think it’s about no love the difference is my dct clutch cost me north of 4K aud. Combine that with trying to utilise a non factory controller that isn’t super reliable it’s a bit of a no brainer. If my f80 dct ever let’s fly it’ll probably get a zf8

They are just very expensive if you want to make them as strong as a 8hp and they wont launch from a dig repeditively.
Well the problem is every setup is different. Most dont even know what they want from a 8hp swap, let alone what they need or what is available. The pricing will continually change as well so its not something i can put in a video that stays live forever. If you are based in Australia, feel free to get in touch.
@@ZeroTo60Tube yeah there are a few factors that make an 8hp so out of reach for most people at the moment like the correct conversion plate, turbolamiks actual price being hard to find and things like which 8hp boxes actually work.I found a 8hp not long ago but no idea if it would bolt to the conversion plate thats avaliable at the moment, you guys coming on board with all the swap stuff will be huge which I was hoping this was what was in the future as an 8hp swap isnt going to be much worse financially then me doing a manual box upgrade in my car.
@@kazern95 Honestly buying everything at retail and depending on power levels, whether you want a clutch pedal, what cooling package you go with. Try and allow $10-$15k for the 8hp swap.
Make sure you check out the lamik forum, if you read all the posts in there you will be fine.
How's the 8hp45 swap going?
Looking a putting a ls into my patrol one day any chance that a 8hp would work behind the ls and a patrol transfer case behind it
We are a doing a LS 8hp at the moment, and there are transfer case adapters coming to the market soon too.
@ZeroTo60Tube awsome thanks mate for the info and the fast reply 🤙
So if I have holley efi running the ls engine ...this Trans controller runs independent of anything the motor is doing??
It can run independantly. However specific engine data must be fed to the controler and then an internal tq map created, so the controller knows tq being produced at any time. The trans has to manage tq from the engine and different amounts of tq requires different pressures applied to each clutch then different line pressure based on the combination of clutches being used at any time. So having an accurate tq value is what is is important. But you can do this with basic data TPS, MAP and RPM.
can this be run behind a carbureted engine
Dan says he stress test...what an understatement LOL............anyway....TO PROSPERITY AND BEYOND GUYS!!!
btw.....can i put a Lamik-ed 8HP in my 4th gen Lexus GS350??
Anything is possible. However i will do a bit of digging in to regard to can comminication with the lexus. Just for the sake of learning.
@@ZeroTo60Tube it's just a toyota 2GR-FSE....what can possibly go wrong HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I’m waiting for dip sticks for n54 where do we put about order in for those
We are still waiting on a few things. I can't do anything about it unfortunately.
Would you say its cheaper to go 8hp or dct for my e36? I have a DCT box i picked up from a 335i for $80.00 at the yard. Which do you think is better?
Price will depend on how much power you make and what you are doing with it. 8hp70 is the better option, but might not be needed
@@ZeroTo60Tube I'm planning to try and make a quick NA build. Seen some guys getting 300-350hp on NA m52b28 engines.
does TURBO LAMIK have a selected gear # output to an LCD display so you know where you are at while shifting?
The unit is supplied with a display which shows, gear, transbrake status, oil temp, adaptation status and program mode. However you can also output gear over can. So you can display it on your Ic7 dash :P
This is fantastic news for you and Dan. Congratulations on being able to set this venture up. Does that mean a power glide to 8HP conversion could be on the cards for OHHRLY?
Hmmmm not 100% sure yet. Glide and ohhrly do go together very well.
@@ZeroTo60Tube will this kit work on the ford or GM joint made 10-speed transmission? and work with the 3-petal? internally there similar to the 8HP
@@richardprice5978 no. It won’t work on the 10 speed boxes. Only the zf 8hp.
@@ZeroTo60Tube have you considered making a kit for automatic v8 10-speed mustang's ( all the new ford and Chevy's truck's are using it and i heard a rumour that dodge might use it or similar design ) and or drift stang's/drag/auto-X
as i like the kit's ideas 👍( im a TR6060/TR6070 in a 1969 dodge charger 440/hemi or BEV-swap guy but i kinda like this ) but dodge is about the one game that uses the 8HP for higher 600+ BHP car's and or transmission wise in the usa 🇺🇸 market looks to be more common and cheaper to use as a swap in my car and it comes in the Chevy's bell flavour 👍
looking at getting two computer controled transmission's with one engine/input shaft for a tank steering/axle/ABS-traction control project ( science engineering experiment done quick and cheap ish ) and this kind of kit solves some of the problems to make it work with 440"s or LSX-V8's and or higher power levels , as it's not locked to the OEM programming
probably needs 2x ECU's/kit's to work as im intending it to right? a left and a right hand side? and a ford 9" or my 8-3/4 pumpkin 🎃geared at 3.2
yooo andrew!!! how much for the trans and everything to do this upgrade!!! also interested in doing the custom clutch kit yous made as well...could you give me a ball park price on everything!?/ please!! im alreading looking at a full manual transmission swap and everything ,, but if i can get my car to have everything you have put in that ddrift car i will definitely rather do that!!! please respond to this!! just a ruff estimate on everything i can do all the work my self in my shop i just need all the stuff!! 🤞🤞
You’ll be around $15k for everything that went in to the drift car of being supplied as a kit.
In California your web site please
From some very dodgey soldering videos to a Full Blown product. nice.
haha, when you put it like that, its kind of a big deal now hey haha
Does the TurboLamik offer virtual clutch? Similar to what HTC offers?
Yes, check out the drift build series in the description. We were amazed with how real we got the clutch to feel. Often people who have test driven the car, by instinct use the clutch to change gear if they use the clutch to start moving.
I’ll order one when you can ship to the US
We can ship the TCU now, but are really struggling to get good rates on larger items, like an entire trans. Mind you the trans would be cheaper to get in the states anyway. Shoot me an email if you would like to place an order.
is there an 8hp that can go on the e53 x5 4.6? i know you have one, and i have one aswell but would love to do an 8hp on it in the future.
Actually there are adapters for the n57 box around because there are already people who wanted to use the m6x platform with quite cheap manual, in comparison to a v8s6s420g manual and from that there is no far way...
please put an 8hp70 from a newer X5 into the E53 tow rig!!!
It’s on the cards in regards to working it out. But I’m in no position to spend money on my cars at the moment.
How well would this integrate into a f82 if I wanted to go from dct to 8hp?
Currently working on the f series can signals. Hopefully be sorted early 2023.
@@ZeroTo60Tube if we can do a bolt in 8hp swap into a f82 and integrate it in seamlessly I’m down
Are you able to use the Ram 8HP70s and transfer cases to make something 4WD?
I’m not sure how to control the ram transfer case. But the lamik will control the early bmw x5 cases
@@ZeroTo60Tube the Ram transfer case is a BW 44-45. It needs a signal to the TC motor to engage into 4WD.
@@ZeroTo60Tube would you be able to remote tune my 8HP70 remotely?

Can you adapt this to Barra ?
Sure can. We have the Barra adapter plates listed on 8speed.au
Do you have any box's for sale im in Brisbane
no, our focus is the controllers and adapters at this point. You will get one from a wrecker just need to make a few calls.
Can you put these in 2012 wrx sti?
We are currently working on a concept using the audi "quattro" 8hp in a wrx. But nothing finalised yet. We havent found a reason why it wont work, put it that way.
Do you guys ship to the USA?
Not yet, but soon we will be able to ship the TCU internationally. Just not the full kits including the box
No love for the 7speed DCT ?
Not if you want to go fast and be reliable. The DCT is a great trans for lower power cars. But to get them to hold the power a 8hp70 will hold, you need very expensive clutches and even then they wont last long.
I don’t think it’s about no love the difference is my dct clutch cost me north of 4K aud. Combine that with trying to utilise a non factory controller that isn’t super reliable it’s a bit of a no brainer. If my f80 dct ever let’s fly it’ll probably get a zf8
@@ZeroTo60Tube I got the E9x box because it is all MaxxEcu supports at the moment. I didn’t realize a new clutch costs 2x what I paid for the transmission.
@@prussnblk6457 At least you are doing it with a maxecu. That will work perfectly. It still uses the factory DCT tcu. And stock clutches will hold 700hp pretty well, just not for launching.
Does this TCU work with BMW DCT ??
No, only 8hp models.
We’ll get to it then lol have you noticed how many DCT are out there and I still haven’t seen just 1 controller only concentrating on DCT. Who ever just markets this wins. 👍 good work though looks like a good solution
@@bigmattolly4910 haha, DKGECU runs the DCT, DCT only and works. These have been around for a very long time. The guy who owns the company watches this channel. Do some youtubing and you will find some info. However the DCT boxes are simply something we are not playing with at the moment. There is a reason BMW dont use them anymore. They no longer offer any benifit over a 8hp.
What ???? Ok ok 23 million dct have been sold globally. Your a smart guy DCT are here to stay and so is the HP. I can take a look at DKG again but last I looked he was still using factory settings to control the bmw box. I’ll go look now. We know the other guy who sells stuff in Poland but that’s still not the perfect solution. Interesting stuff… let’s see how theses next projects come along and please show all the gremlins and the wins it’s all good content. 👍
@@bigmattolly4910 DKGECU has neevr used the factory settings, so you must be thinking of a different contrller. DKGECU like lamik and HTG requires a direct connection to each solenoid and sensor in the box. And look DCT is a great box if you dont make much power. They are just very expensive if you want to make them as strong as a 8hp and they wont launch from a dig repeditively.
what are the prices thats the big issue half the pople wont understand the price and end up being a waste of an email
Pricewise they fall between a manual swap and a sequental. But then offer all the benifits of the auto at the same time.
