Maybe you know them already but in manufacturing we use the 5 Why's to get at root cause. It's a lot like you description of thinking things through at the end of the video.
I don't think that people 10,000 years ago were less intelligent than people today. I hope that you were using tribes/Romans/Medieval describing the lower levels as analogy only; Aristotle et al.

I'm almost 30. I've been at a new job for about a month now. Yesterday, for casual Friday, I wore a normal tshirt. My boss called me over and politely talked to me, saying I need to wear collared shirts. Keep the casual professional. He was very nice about it. And I felt anxiety for 30 mins because I had done something wrong. I grew up with unforgiving parents and deal with this kind of stuff internally, but I'm getting better at it recently. Anyways. I wanted to just go home and change so I didn't feel bad anymore. I thought about how my boss might have been stressed because maybe HIS boss mentioned it to me and he felt like HE did something wrong. And I caused all of that stress. I didn't like that. But. I realized I was being ridiculous. I told myself it's just a shirt and I'll fix it next time. And I was able to do that because I have become able to see how I emotionally respond to things and why I respond that way. I've been changing a lot of things recently since moving past some unhealthy attachments and I've been able to do so because I can see how and why I react the way I do. I think about why I do it and if what I'm so worried about is actually something to worry about. Most of the time it isn't. I feel like this self awareness puts me most of the time at a 8.

Sure, those who don't overanalyze might do more things, but are those things they are doing helpful, harmful, meaningful, or mindful? Are those things contributing towards a greater goal? Additionally, even if one can perceive the higher levels of thinking, they are not unable to see/use the lower levels of thinking when they are the best fit for the situation. There is a need and a function for higher level thinking. And it seems like at level 9 thinking, one would be able to know exactly where to target the issue and from what perspective in order to achieve their goals. That's exactly the part I struggle with. I can see the whole tangled web, but where do you start to begin untangling things? If you start carelessly, the web could completely fall apart and cause more problems because it is a delicately interwoven system of systems.

Yes, I can attest that as a person who has crippling OCD, just an inbalance of having too much glutamate on some regions of the brain can make you not be able to make a lot of things while at same time getting why everyone is the way they are and you just wish you could live at the moment like you were as a child, it is a progress of losing your ability of living at the moment while observing that and being less able to rationalize what to do about that because what would actually work is to not rationalize at all, that can't be solved with rationalizing more, only with living at the moment. But then again, you are stuck already, how can you just not rationalize once you been there...

Are you sure you don't "feel real" or do you just experience feelings of disconnection and transience? It's a basic philosophical axiom that the only thing we can really be assured of as "real" is our own thoughts and being. "I think, therefore I am". If you are experiencing what you described, I think those books can be of great value to you. They are not religious or anything. They explain what the mystics through time, from of all traditions were pointing towards, but in a modern clear and accessible language. I can't ask you to trust me on this because who the heck am I? I feel exactly the same. Idk if I always implement it but I do remind myself of advice I heard out of a book from the 1930s. Basically, people who appear to always make the right decisions are people who make decisions quickly and see out those decisions. So it isn't important what decisions you make but if you align yourself with those decisions. So don't worry about the decision itself, but do what you need to do to make that decision the right one. If you can't decide between going to school for physics or engineering, choose one and do it. The quicker you can make decisions, the better.
On another random piece of advice, take the decisions away from yourself. If it's food decisions that bother you then write down foods you like on post it notes and grab one when you can't decide. It's been working so far for me.
I get very exhausted by making decisions all the time. It's nice to do things to remove some of that decision making, imo

It's crazy for someone else to explain so neatly something you have been trying for your whole life to understand. I like that you stated that higher levels of thought doesn't exactly mean they are better, I've struggled with anxiety my whole life and I definitely get trapped in loops of overthinking and decision paralysis. I have learned in my adult years that sometimes its okay to chill at the lower levels and just be yourself. But I think if everyone had even just one breakthrough moment where they thought at higher levels, we would have a much better understanding of our world and how to live happily with one another.

    • @metagorge

decision paralysis =/= higher levels. same for overthinking. you can overthink from the same single perspective, and have decision paralysis from one frame of view, while neglecting other frames of view. you can also 'chill' at higher levels, especially if it's bringing you answers to questions that could not be answered at lower levels, and allowing you to be more productive than you would have been otherwise, and therefore content with your improvement. there are many examples of this. I think anxiety is more of a nervous system problem and can happen at any level, low or high.

In fact not having them as a solid foundation can make you dysfunctional even when you are at higher levels of awareness. Which is why it is important to understand the impact of trauma in undermine that foundation. The climb is important because you become more versatile and less reactive to other people. You see people less in terms of good and bad and more in terms of different degrees of being awake. The less awake they are the more people and things they bump into.

I spend most of my time at level 7 and 8, I look at everything objectively, I have almost no emotional connection to politics, to culture, etc
And when I do, I realize immediately and get embarrassed at the fact that I was even thinking like that.
I'm only 16 so I don't really make choices to be honest, all I can do is plan what choices I make in my future.
But I do silently look at the choices of everyone around me, being absolutely shocked at how many unreasonable choices people make.
Having children while being unfit(not enough money, smoker, drinker, unhappy etc), purchasing expensive vehicles, entering relationships that don't benefit them and so much more.
I realize that most people make choices that make them feel best at that time, just the idea of them making that choice makes them happy.
You see this a lot in low rated chess players, they play a move just because they liked the move, and didn't look at everything else going around in the game.

Eastern misticism is all about being in the present moment and radical awareness, they knew thoughts were a poorly constructed theories of reality, and knowledge through learning and experience was much more valuable than any thought your head can produce. Meditation if done correctly actually DETACHES you from your thoughts and grounds you in the present experience.

Your dead on the money, meditation is definitely key. Meditation helps your mind expand but not just meditation alone, your mind has to be willing to expand and you cannot expand if you do not make room for more ideas to enter your mind unbound by biases. The more you can open your mind and be less judgmental the more room for expansion. Nuance is key for true growth, when you press in to learn more and understand more both light, dark and everything in between the universe unfolds everything in front of you. It's like staring into the abyss, the abyss stares back into you. Likewise the universe, don't stop, keep pushing. Leave not one stone left overturned and life as you know it will look like a matrix. More layers will peel back and just observe, lvl 9 is where it's at but only if you can handle it. You have to open your own mind to expand that far, it's a matter of one's own will to make a way. Will you tell yourself you know enough or will you open up to be once more surprised that this universe is in communion with you.

I understand how you feel, as time has progressed and we become more self aware we realize the way we think, and notice our separation from others. I don't like proclaiming intelligence on any level but I know that as we increase the depth of the thought we can generate and understand, we tend to solve, live, think, feel and separate from others. This is isolating as the fact we can be viewed by other humans for having a different thought be seen as immoral and labeled as a bad person, very isolating. But it takes time to realize that sometimes the best thing to do is to fit in. Which is probably why higher levels are not intrinsically better. I found that the best way to cultivate this idea and expand volume of consciousness is to connect with other people of similar depth. Just always keep in mind, we aren't better that anyone else, and no one holds superiority, as to err is to be human. so always keep an open mind. Good luck on your journey, friend.

I have discovered that the key is learning to "tune in" to the different consciousness levels being expressed or utilized by the individual or group, as well as being consciously aware enough about the advantages(or lack thereof) of discerning whether it is an optimal action for you(myself) to interact with them or not. To practice, you have to engage with almost all the variations of consciousness levels expressed by different beings at their own levels, however once you get the hang of it(or at least when it seems obvious for you to) you choose to associate with those that will optimize your life as well as the lives you too can optimize as well(some are more receptive than others to "change" lol).
Like a string(or in groups, strings) on a guitar, you must learn to understand and be able to recognize the tension(or lack thereof) of each consciousness level, learn to adjust your own to each variation for maximum harmony, and generate the unique symphony of experience we all love called Human Being, filled with both Joy and Suffering, and so much more.
Eventually, you will be so adept at it and the community at large will be so attuned to it that you yourself can be one of the main "Strings" that help to tune all the other strings in order to optimize the world and the future of humanity. At least, that's my theory or wish.
Regardless, good luck to all who read this, and may God bless you and your loved ones.

When level 7 was introduced, my mind was blown. I’ve been having a realization over the past few months that i’ve been improving a lot because i’ve spent a lot of time rethinking my actions throughout my life and what motivated them, how others felt, how those feeling would make me feel, how others would view me if they saw me behaved that way, understanding that different people have different views a lot variety of topics that might seem objective at first, accepting people just think differently and have very different views and goals. I started a new job which i drive an hour to and from so i have a lot of thinking time. I’ve thought about my life over and over. I also acknowledge i have a very different mind now then i did prior to college, my life goals feel more narrowed in and my maturity feels more engrained. I understand that comes with time and experiences, both of those turning me who i am today.
Such a great video, i will be thinking about this all week
Edit: I believe i’ve used level 8 and 9 a decent amount of times recently, for sure when i got close to graduating college, and when i started my new job. After i few times of realizing i was actually fixing bad habits using my mind to reinforce good thoughts and behaviors, i made a mental map of areas of my self i what to work on and broke those areas into bits of benefits and cons. Learning about yourself by examining yourself is one of the coolest things. I still have alot to work on but i can tell improvements have been made and it’s only the beginning

Almost like for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. While I can see that these thoughts lead to a loss of self, at the same time it's your eyes interpreting light waves at whatever interval in order just to percieve, it's your skin detecting energy in the air and that's how we feel heat energy. Our minds interpret this natural world(and only at it's speed, this speed differs from thing to thing) and with every last bodily process we have we internalize this natural world and regurgitate that same info but with our own unique twist. In that way you are creating this world and that's what you have control over, the meaning of it all. And if you wanna be damned by it then you will, if it's freeing than it's freeing.

Every 6 months or so i get a completely different results on my personality tests and it feels like i'm a completely different person and cant recognize myself, sometimes i read text from only 2 years ago and im completely baffled with what i wrote and come to the realization that it literally was a different person as i have change over time due to my subjective experiences and im observing the fact that i observed that. And it makes me realize that i truly have that unlimited possibilities on who i could become and who i am. Its like so to me everything is completely subjective including my own mind and the way i observe my mind is also subjective. "I think therefore i am" feels like it doesnt apply me. Because how can i be sure that that is the case, what about the me that thought 2 years ago, that me was a completely different me, its not the me as i know me today and its definitely not the me that i will be in the future, is the me of today even the me of the future, am I truly even me or even real? On level 8 there's probably the perception of the passage of time, which changes depending on the scale you're operating at (like flow state.) Many people treat that as accidental and are peripherally of aspects of it, but consciously entering it is on an even higher since it deals with our attention and relationship with time. Being aware of the threshold of consciousness and what lies outside of it, and actively modifying those boundaries to serve us better might be around that level as well. My jaw was on the floor for most of this video, and not just your animations lol, but rather that I felt myself following along from my own life over the last few years. Recalling times of so-called 'shedding my skin' after low points in my life, saying like "oh yep, that was my exact observation level in high school, College, etc.". I always figured there was something out there like this but never 'on the head' as this. My stoic and amazing dad told me several times growing up that I just thought differently than my peers, and whenever I found myself frustrated about the inevitable alienation that I began to foster around myself, I realized that everyone around me really only thought for themselves and over trivial stuff no less. Growing up around people much older than myself, I managed to live through a depression of prolonged loneliness because I truly felt that somehow what I thought was intrinsically "correct" or "mature". As you said, "...higher does not always mean better." and that could not be more true, perception or wisdom or whatever 100% come at a price; whether sanity, happiness, connections, or anything else. In any regard, thank you for reading this post and a thin slice of my life, i continue to live humbly on the path of life that we all will continue to walk. 'Learning' too much too quickly can be a difficult, and often painful, hurtle to jump, but i encourage everyone to never quit and know when you are just spinning your wheels in life. Be patient, always take a step back whenever you find yourself lost to your emotion. Not gonna lie, never have had these levels explained this way, and the way you explained level 8, is the reason why me and my father have difficulty communicating, I don't think I am yet perfectly at level 8, but I definitely tap into it time to time, When I look at an object, or problem, I think about each of the Maslow hierarchy, and these levels, the phenetics of the words used, the origins of the words, the colors and music notes they represent, and so much more all at once really quickly. (I'm a psych student, with INFJ-A as my type, and I am in my mid 20's.) This level of thinking is a double edged sword because my mind is very much like the famous painting the Labyrinth, where time, fears, social norms, and so much more is the monster hunting me as I scale the twists, turns, upside downs, perspectives, choices, and doors of life. It's also a double edged sword because I struggle with simple concepts, or simple instruction, since in another simpler explanation I make a Picasso, or try to fix the world, with every little or big thing in life; I am always trying to fix, mend, or better the world, even if I am just looking at a plastic cap on the side of the road.

    2) how the ancient philosophy of Stoicism defaults at beginning the practitioner at Construct Awareness(Lvl8) and places it's goal making Lvl9 the default Lvl1 perspective, which could be said to be the goal of other philosophies/religious traditions(Buddhism for example), but it is the only such philosophical tradition I'm aware of that is fundamentally constructed to begin at such a high level of awareness instead of gradually achieving it.
    Great Videos btw,

oh brother how in the hell do you relate the 10 levels to the 10 dimensions lol. Like tell me one distinc thing about the "curled up" dimensions 5-10 and how they relate to anyhting on this list. the only similaritty is that there are 10 of them. It would be pretty cool if there was some fundemental connection between the structure of our universe and the structure of our consiousness but comparing two (flawed) models and then assuming some fundemental connection is non-scientific. First we would need to determine that this is a proper model of concousness for attacking the question. Also, the 6 curled up spatial dimenssions in string theory have never been measured or observed and string theory is only one group of theories that attempts to explain quantum gravuty. There are many others that don't involve extra dimensions

One of the hardest things I learn as a teen was something a therapist told me and I hate " Anxiety is extremely individualistic". I FEELS like it's not cause you are always thinking "But what they would think about me?" but you are not actually being aware of other peoples feelings you are just stuck in your head ASSUMING you know what they think. You are extremely aware of your actions and thought but now enough aware of the PROCESS of thought.
Thats why (I think) anxiety could be a 6.

The more i grow and think, the more i start to feel like a silent observer. When you read the "complete" tab, it shocked me. I blushed. I couldn't believe that you had just described the mental state I have been burdened with for the past several months. I realized that I had been spending more time here than other tiers. My refraining from distraction with alcohol, social situations and gluttony, the more I began to stay in this mindset. Thanks for this video. My gf and a friend have talked abt this and we like to actually analyze ppl. It starts with expression, then substance, then reasoning behind substance, and then mindset. Expression is what someone shows directly. Their clothes, how they say stuff, anything that just on a superficial level u can describe or categorize them as. Then comes substance. What r they actually saying. It’s like you can say “yes” in a excited way or a hesitant way and it would convey different meanings. Then comes substance behind reasoning. A great example is your brain drawing. Everything u just said about why a girl doesn’t like you (sorry) is reasoning behind substance. Then comes mindset. Which is way harder to explain, but it’s the true origin behind everything you do. It’s kind of like your 7th degree of conscious. Like you see how all of their experiences culminate and you describe exactly why ppl do things. You can never describe someone’s mindset in a single word or phrase, but rather it is the culmination of everything as a person. If you can understand mindset you can understand the entire person as a whole. Anyways what I’ve been wanting to say is that I think you’re 9th level is unfinished. The 8th level is the recognition of the culmination of everything, but then 9th level is not only being able to understand your own culmination of everything, but someone else’s and truely experiencing what they have gone through. See you just desciebed a pattern of conscious and the pattern keeps on going as you go higher and higher and the 9th level is no exception. What you just described is the ability to analyze someone as a whole. The second level is the ability to understand someone else’s expression and then so on and so on (sorry i forgot what each level, but I hope u get the idea). Anyways the 9th level is the ability to understand the person as a whole, but then there is a 10th thing that i feel like is there but I wouldn’t nessecarily call it a level of conscious just more like a realization. You realize that all the information u perceive no matter how object, is finite. You can never truely define everyhting. There is no absolute in anything other than yourself. I believe this is where the cycle comes to a circle. You then come back to the level 1 of consious and build. Keep in mind it is not a cycle but more like the end of a circle. After realizing everything you possibly can, you just go from there. I know what I’ve just described might not seem real to some people and even to others as superficial. But truly know what i’m talking about you need to experience it.

I don't usually respond to comments but I found this interesting. I would agree with your 'level 10' sort of idea, not as a state of consciousness but a rule of life. But i wouldn't agree with your level 9 in the context of the video. The first reason being, as you said all information is finite which means therefore it can be lost or withheld by individuals. Which would mean for the reality of your level 9 to exist ("but someone else’s and truly experiencing what they have gone through") be impossible. This would kind of have to make me delve into 2 sub reasons as to why but i think this stems from misinterpretation of the video. I don't think hoe math's level 9 was to experience and understand the culmination of *someone else's* experience and existence but instead was the ability to like he said, "knowing where to watch those things"- in context to level 8. Level 8 being the ability to understand the culmination of YOUR experience in real time, to understand the understanding and observe the observing of the culmination. What I drew from the video, the idea of level 9 is the level of thought required to understand which area's to focus on, once again "the *responsibility* for *knowing*-( which in context is the parent to level 8 as a value), *where*-(in reference to being able to understand a higher level of where observing observation is required and necessary, and to understand its role and value in your own observation) to watch those things" that was my interpretation, I look forward to a response. Do correct any of my mistakes from your argument.

He says: "this isn't some you need Jesus crap"
Then proceeds to offer a religion that you spend essentially forever trying to quit being reborn even though you have no soul or person.
      🤦
All based on the teachings of a man who was just one of the many bodhisattva BUT *specifically* from the "Tuṣita" heaven, (buddhist cosmology is migrane inducing, cuz ya kno: "dukkha") who, depending on which opinion from which buddist "off-shoot"/sect (in other words no one knows, or EVER DID) decided to take the shape of a "white elephant to be reborn on Earth for the last time."
      🤨
This white elephant, enlightened state buddha, from a specific heaven, for whatever reason, went into what I guess he chose to be his mother's womb (via her right side?) to be born, but was still a result of sex of his mom and dad(?).
      🧐
All this to live a life in search of how to "detach" and "break the cycle" which he for some reason was the first one to "figure it out" giving us the "middle road" to achieve nirvana as a means to quit being born over and over again (be good or you might be born as a dung beetle)
      😑
      BUT....
      No "Jesus crap" though...
Obviously you can do whatever you want, you've been GIVEN the free will to do whatsoever you please.
But don't try to reduce the real undeniable existence of Jesus Christ to "crap".
Jesus Christ, who factually lived, that we have verifiable first hand witness accounts of, is backed by historical, archeological, and scientifical evidence...not to mention the literary miracle, the Bible, and it's never been exhausted details and explanations for human existence, creation, meaning, moral values, reason for suffering/evil, death, eternal life after...
but yeah....Buddhism bro, no Jesus "crap", btw check out this dudes channel he's like super close to nirvana man."
I say all that to say this: Believe it or not I got nothing but love for you and since I come from a Catholic upbringing which led me to hate church in the Bible only to eventually come to the realization that my preconceived notions and bias towards the Bible we're not fair and we're founded in my CONTINUED dislike (to say the least) of Roman Catholicism.
once I put aside my preconceived motions biases opinions and simply just looked in to studying the historicity of the Bible alongside some personal spiritual self-reflection and prayer I came to what I believe to be the only logical conclusion and quite easy to come to with that, which is simply that the Bible is exactly what it claims to be.
Jesus of Nazareth, Son of God (literally God in the flesh) came down here 2023 years ago (current year=how long since His bday, go backwards for anytime before [BC] lol, world changing event) to be murdered by His own creation, for you.
God in the flesh, who made the entire universe, was sentenced to Capital punishment: death by Roman Crucifixion.
Order was given by one "Pontius Pilot" who was the fifth governor of the Roman province of Judaea, serving under Emperor Tiberius.
      As a result, your Creator, suffered a horrific death, being tortured, spit on, mocked, beard ripped out, and the One who made the entire planet, hung bloody, entirely naked, disfigured, entrails showing;
this He suffered while having the power to come down off the cross and wipe out all humanity at any point if He wanted to but no, instead we read in Luke 23:34 'Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do...'
God in the flesh died for you.
Because if you're honest with yourself you know that you are what the Bible would call a sinner.
Because besides Jesus who lived a perfect sinless life (only way to be a perfect sacrifice on our behalf is to be perfect) so is EVERYONE ELSE who ever lived.
And a perfect God cannot allow sin into a perfect place such as heaven because if He did, man would ruin all of outer space/heaven just like we are doing to Earth.
And the judgement for sin, anything less than perfection, is death and eternity seperated from God in hell.
But hell wasn't even made for you, Matthew 25:41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire PREPARED for the DEVIL and his ANGELS."
And He died for all of His creation because He loves us:
      ‭‭John‬ ‭3:16‭-‬17‬ ‭KJV‬‬
[16] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. [17] For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved."
So he took your place on the cross, died for your sins, took your sins down to hell when He went there for you and dropped them off, rose from the dead on the 3rd day according to the scriptures, and ascended back up to His rightful place in Heaven.
All that just in the HOPES (because He isn't a slave owner He gave you free will) that you will accept His FREE GIFT (you don't earn it) so that you can be forgiven, clean by blood of the "Lamb".
These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
      1 John 5:13‭-‬14 KJV
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
      Romans 10: 9-10
⁹ that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
¹⁰ For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
      Romans 10:13
¹³For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Get saved brothers/sisters, God doesn't want you trying to worry about breaking The Reincarnation cycle trying to achieve Nirvana or get whatever prize whatever religion is offering you by your own works.
No he wants you to know that you are going to heaven by simply trusting in Jesus Christ dying for your sins. He wants you to have peace, hope, purpose, meaning, a literal one on one personal relationship with you; and to spend eternity in Heaven with you there.
We aren't guaranteed tomorrow, but we are guaranteed to die; don't put it off just simply trust Jesus Christ (cuz it's not crap, only reLIEgion is) and I hope to see yall topside after this short life on earth.
      Love.

It’s when you’ve spent so much time in levels 7-9 that you straight up make a conscious decision to revert back to levels 1 & 2 because you realize there’s no point in continuing to abstract things further. You realize that you are your own autonomous system and you decide to just sit back, let it go, and let your consciousness do it’s own natural thing without questioning it’s/your motives constantly.

This is the cycle of what people call "God." It really amazes me that people don't ponder religion further than heaven / god / unity. It's an eternal suffering of being isolated, so you must break yourself apart so that you can distract your own self to connect with other parts of yourself, other people, so that you can all hope to get back to unity and back to oneness, so that you can.... DO WHAT?!? DO IT all over again? That's what some religions say. Reincarnation. Ok great, then what, repeat that infinitum? That's the "best" answer the "best" religions have. An endless cycle, to become present, to transcend being into oneness again. and again. forever.
Well to me, that's the definition of insanity, and I know that it's actually not the real definition, but to do the same thing over and over and NOT EXPECT a different result is INSANE.
This is the part of the analyzing that doesn't make sense to me. If this is the reason for being, then that's it? Then I'm checking out. If it's not, then the answer cannot be unity and oneness, it actually has to be the opposite. It has to be entropy and chaos, why? Because that creates more things. More things lead to more awareness. Leads to more actions, thoughts, multiverses of being. So if we actually found out that uniting was the wrong thing to aim for... we've been doing it wrong this whole time.
Maybe, we're actually supposed to go into chaos and entropy. Embrace the broken, for it allows us so much more to analyze. Rather than being in the moment and being united with nothing actually going on....
Just some thoughts. Sorry it was on your random funny comment, Good shit for you tho!

4:21 This is the same issue with 'therapy' and I bumped up against this problem just a few weeks ago. See, i have an issue with wiping off counters. There's just been this lifelong block with this one thing. I'll do dishes, scrub out the fridge and oven, wipe off the cabinet fronts, sweep the floor... then walk out of the room without wiping the counters off. I actually clean MORE in an effort to avoid wiping off the stupid counters. I hate myself for this problem.
Why do I do it? Goes back to my childhood. Both training and resentments. I fully understand the why. I know where the complex evolved from and how it affected me.
Last week I was talking to my husband and the topic was relevant so I said all that and we finished the conversation and it was done. But later it bugged me.
I kept thinking, so now what? I know this is an issue. I know why I have the issue. I understand all the ins and outs and history and psychology of the issue. But I'm a freaking grandmother for the love of gawd. What the hell am I going to DO about it?
There comes a point where the navel-gazing has to end. You've explored every crevasse here's no more lint to be found in the little hole. You just have to choose to grow up and actually change the behavior.
So I shifted my feelings of resentment from my parent and from my childhood imprinting and made myself resent ME. I now resent that part of me that allowed this BS to carry on for so damn long.
And my counters have never been so clean. See, I can't change the parent. I can't change the past. But I can change what I don't like about myself. I am the one factor in the universe that I have control over, so when I can shift my mindset to "I AM THE PROBLEM" now I have the power to fix it. It's always a sweet rush when that shift happens because I know I'm finally able to move forward.
Us navel-gazers have to realize that insight isn't helpful unless we apply it. My husband is the least navel-gazing person on planet earth, but when he finds some aspect of himself, he just changes it. There is no navel-gazing. "I don't like that I've been drinking as much as I have. I will no longer drink." "I'm suffering because I go to bed too late. From now on, I have a bed time." And then he *actually does the thing... FOREVER.* He truly is a god among men and I respect him so much.
The fact is, why doesn't matter. The only way to improve our lives to to practice radical, personal responsibility and just do the thing.
It's a hell of a lot faster and more effective than the brain stuff.
But I will admit, it's much less fun.

My brain is always working over time, picking life apart to what feels like the atoms, trying to understand my human experience. Grappling with reality. To just go through life, satisfying simple needs, not thinking about these things seems fabulous.

I thought about my thought process throughout the video and came to the conclusion, that I shift between everyone of those levels constantly, but mostly operating from level 7.

I grew up during the 60s and 70s. Level 6 was going crazy then. Your evaluation is correct, just because a person has embarked on the journey of higher level thinking, doesn't mean it's better. Those in level 6 then, made the mistake of the cliché, throwing out the baby with the bathwater. They didn't take the time to evaluate why things were, and properly assess what would happen if it was changed, replaced, or just thrown out. They also forgot that ideas have consequences.

As if they refuse to look at what these morals were put into place for to protect. I understand that times are changing, but I always felt like time is not the only thing in the equation and that human tendency/nature and it’s consequences also have to be taken into account.

@@PUREBLACKWORLDTENDENCY I'd say, go crazy - not literally, but try something unconventional. Attempt to construct a world you'd never expect or engage in something enjoyable just once where you had left all matters of consequences completely dealt with. Once you reach a point where you can observe virtually everything at least once, you can begin to shape reality itself. I believe that there's an infinite amount to acknowledge, but the categories are not. Even if you opt to notice the unity in everything or take a more practical approach, you'll easily adapt to a harmonious lifestyle. The reason the 6th level is so troublesome is because it ignores most aspects of one's perceptions. Every level of thought can be reformed into the values of any of the other ones, except the 6th. It is a bit stuck in the physical aspect of itself. (I was going to post this to the OP, but something happened, I guess. My apologies good sir.)

Level 9 is actually really useful for peaceful interpersonal activity. The transparency that it creates of "gaps" in the emergence of conscious apprehension of reality helps you sort of... place something in front of people that makes them react, like "what the hell did you just say? why have I never thought of it that way?" and I BELIEVE (don't quote me) that this is why they call it the "ironist." Because you are "ironically" giving people the opposite of what they need to force them to solve their own problem from the inside and make them fill in that gap.

From my perspective you don’t have to conquer your insecurities to progress. I’ve had many moments of the “complete” perspective. And no. If anything, the further you go, the harder it is to fix things later on because they pile up. And when you get to that “9th” level, you reach the point of subjective nihilism. There’s no answer, these perspectives are tools that developed over time, for some reason, for each their own, with their own conclusions and pains. Thinking that you have an answer for anyone but yourself after reaching that coveted 9th level is hubris. And trust me, it’s harder to resolve issues when you’re trying to analyze yourself to that degree. At the end all of the changes happen at level 0, your own actions. And trust me, it gets harder and harder to Justify doing things, because you get more comfortable in analyzing from the perspective instead of acting

Meditating is literally seeing your thoughts as an observer, not your own, and let them be; this can be compounded multiple times (into multiple levels as you explain).
So meditating is really a power tool to train looking at things from more far away as you get better at it.
Obviously you would need to accompany this with just living your life to collect experiences, so then you can meditate about them and then realize this birds-eye view. The first time I started experiencing level 8, I was filled with this extreme sense of purposelessness and I didn't even want to exist anymore. The reason was my mind still trying to save itself by seeking intent and purpose in being pure awareness (whose very nature is simply witnessing). This created a clash between my mind and my awareness which gave me a hard kick on my chest and I was falling in a limbo. My whole life exploded and I was numb for a while. Now I have realized that it is the nature of mind to have intent and it is the nature of awareness to not have intent. I live in my body and mind, so sure I will feel intent, feelings, ego, etc. But is it really that significant? Not at all because that's just the nature of these entities. Its like do we feel overwhelmed or fascinated by the fact that wood is hard? No, its just the nature of wood to be hard, just like that anything related to my awareness OR my mind is as significant as wood being hard (This sounds very unbelievable from the perspective of other levels but its liberating). So what should I do? NOTHING! What can I do? ANYTHING! Do I want to do anything? Yes, the mind always wants to do anything. Will it matter in the grand picture? There is no grand picture. I guess I'll just eat ice cream then. And today whenever I eat ice cream Its like a dream because whatever I do in this dream will vanish the moment I cease to exist. Life is but a dream.

You wont think about this in hospice. I feel like I actually recently reached the level where I'm observing my habits and sense of identity changing over time and observing how I observe and even the daily flow through the levels of consciousness. That bit at the end really resonated where you get to thinking about thinking so hard and long that you basically end up with "you gotta start somewhere so this thing might as well be good enough for now"

I know this isnt suppose to be torally funny, but the way you explain things and how dry the jokes are yet how effective they are at explaining the concepts makes me really, really happy & also im laughing out loud randomly everytime i try to focus 😂

My experience with immigration to a country with better education at a young age really accelerated me into level 5 without fully developing understanding/comfort in level 2-4. I think that this forced me to start reasoning how different groups do things without understanding what I want, what I am, what I believe in. I'm not sure how else it has messed me up but I feel messed up. I feel like a very developed onion with a bunch of layers, but at the core I am empty. Being able to word this out is really helpful. Thank you for your video.

Very developed Onion is an excellent description! I've also gone through a similar up bringing and had to completely unravel the onion to properly understand and observe myself. I still haven't completely unravelled everything, as a very developed onion it takes a while to go through those layers, but as you untangle your own layers you gain a new level of Consciousness.

I think I understand what you mean , I also needed to have that kind of awareness without having the chance to think about myself in anyway , as I grew up in a neglectful household.
So not so long-ago I experienced a time where I revisited myself and my urges , for that to happen I needed a safe space which for me was my mind.
Anyway my point is , I have also felt empty before and I always felt like i was messed up in a way, but it's not constant it goes away .

Borderline personality disorder... depending on the severity of your emotions 😂
That's the diagnosis I give myself. I even realize Im in the moment become a slightly tailored version to them, that slowly becomes more like them, that makes it hard for people to not hangout with me, or to engage with sex easy, again I realized my internal processes are so dissociative and almost out of control, it's frightening, especially splitting because I'm kinda dangerous with both Internalizing and Externalizing 😂

As a dude with high functioning autism this is very interesting. I end up using mostly levels 7, 8, and occasionally 9 throughout almost every day of my life while accidentally neglecting the lower levels (often forget why I do things, forget to put myself into one specific persons shoes rather than think of an overall perspective, ect) and I only now have a way to understand why that is. Thank you for explaining this in such detail and allowing me to realize I should begin to use those lower levels a little more.

i was just thinking that exact same thing! i'm also autistic and when he got to level 8 i thought wait, doesn't everybody think like this the majority of the time? and then i realized i don't use the lower levels almost at all and that's probably why my brain feels so busy all the time lmao
