@@Johnny96ri - it isn't, you can tell by the flow of the fabric, but even still the framing structure has to make it awkward to move with confidence...which just says even more about her legendary grace.

@@Johnny96ri The original was, and apparently it was quite heavy. I wouldn't blame her for making a stage-friendly version, that thing couldn't be good to really perform in. Most stage performers used lightweight replicas to perform. For example, Michael Jackson's live Thriller jackets were made of cloth instead of leather because you could pass out dancing under hot lights in leather.

Tina came to this point, having lived a dozen full lives. Most of them are filled with pain. She walked away from decades of abuse with little more then the clothes on her back and remade herself into an icon in her 40's. When you feel that sense of presence, it's her telling the world to do your worst, I can take it, and i have taken it.

You, my lady, are the ONLY individual I've listened to as someone offering his/her reactions to an artist, who I genuinely enjoy the "interruptions" [rather than waiting until after you hear a complete work before giving them].
    .
As a matter of fact ... I find myself excited to watch you pause the work and immediately react to what you hear the artist doing with their voice and artistic nuance.
    .
And THAT, my dear sister, is because you not only offer clear, succinct and insightful depth to your critique, but your genuine enthusiasm is both infectious and delightful. I find myself excited about what next I'm going to learn from you [on how to not just hear an artist sing but LISTEN to the vocal genius of their instrument and their art.
    .

Kinda out of left field, but I was at a bar in Calgary and Sigourney Weaver walked in. And even before I recognized her, she had that room-filling aura you are taking about. Such a presence. It was something I never witnessed at that extreme before. Then she sat down right next to our little group: it was a swanky bar. Everyone played it off. And gave her her space. But wow.

I came across this video only by looking up this song and was going through the search results. I’d saw one of yours before when you reacted to Clannad whom I also love. You touched on the part where Tina sings mmmm which goes straight into the line love and compassion. That is actually one of my favourite parts of the song and it’s verses. Tina puts as you’ve explained it a lot of effort into that mmm. There’s emotion and conviction in that part which I love. It’s a small but no less important part of this track.

What a woman?!!!!!!!!! An amazing singer, a rockin body, beams sex appeal, and you cannot take your eyes off of her. Great range and a warm tone. Tina beams soul. skill, and she is a legend. I have admired this lady for decades. My sister has seen her in concert and she said Tina was moving for the entire show.... Unreal energy. I think it comes down to her just loving to perform. And she is extremely good at it. Has been for a long, long time.... A little side note, Tina is the first woman to be on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine.Quite an accomplishment. And she is a surviver. She is a very special lady in many ways!!! And she is loved!

So sad that Tina is gone now. Like so many others.
She truly was "simply the best".
    Rest in piece, Tina!

Beth - the set at the beginning was a tie back to the movie that the song was in the soundtrack to - Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. That was the movie playing on the screen behind her.

You hit the nail on the head when you compared her voice to a saxophone. I said the same thing many years ago.

Tina Turner, A Legend in her own right who empowered women everywhere to take a Stand Against Spousal Abuse and changed the way we listen to Music during the great 80s Era.

I saw her last tour and she was and still is the only one that could walk on stage and make me cry. I felt like one of those girls you see crying for the beetles or Michael Jackson. 😆 She will be so so missed and there will never be another like her. She was a gift to the world for sure.

    Beth,
You my dear are in for something very wonderful... Such a BIG production, not that Tina needed it. If you notice Tina walks out and ALL eyes are on HER!!!!!! As you said, they are there to see her. My younger sister has seen Tina twice. Pam said Tina was moving the entire concert. The audience is So in to this performance. Bye for now Bethie!!!!!!!!!!!
