Should Always wear a seat belt. I've seen two different occasions were persons were ejected from their vehicles, wasn't pretty. Be safe. God Speed

My parents always made me wear them as a kid growing up in the '70s and as a result I can't imagine not wearing them now.

That Town Car is a sweet ride! Perfect road trip car but I wanted to correct Paul every time he called it a Crown Vic 😅. Can't wait to see the road trip episode, it's gonna be a blast!

I had the exact same thought after seeing it every time he said crown vic I was trying to hold back yelling at my phone "thats a fn Lincoln Towncar not a damn Crown Vic.. Like wtf thought Paul was a car guy, guess he's just a truck/off-roader guy an doesn't actually know the differences between those 2 cars..

It’s like calling all UTV’s razors just for simplicity. Crown Vics/Grand Marquis and Town Cars are basically the same vehicle, with the Town Car having some upgraded suspension and of course a slightly different body. Otherwise though the drivetrain, chassis, frame, components are all very similar.
Lol. I was going to call Paul out on the Crown Vic/Lincoln Town Car too.

I have a Town Car and it will run away with you if you don’t set the cruise control. The ride is so nice you don’t realize how fast you’re going, so I totally see how that happened. Enjoy!

I know Paul likes to call his "new" ride a Crown Vic, and for the most part it shares most everything with it's "poorer" cousin, but the reason it has the leather seats is because it is actually the "higher end" Lincoln Town Car. I'm sure it has a lot of other updated features as well. Personally, I'd prefer the Town Car over the Crown Vic any day of the week unless it was a low mileage (unicorn) Police Interceptor!
Thats what I came on here to say. Thats not a Crown Vic! Did the Town Car have the 4 valve engine? I know a lot of the Lincolns did.
That's why they put cruise-control in them. You'll be going to fast before you know it😂

And that's why I drive old Land Cruisers. They'll get you anywhere you want to go, they just won't do it quickly. As long as you stay off private property and you keep all of the lights working, you're pretty much immune from getting a ticket.
First car I ever drove was almost that exact car. 1996 Lincoln Town Car. My dad ordered it with the dual exhaust package so it had the same horsepower as the pursuit Crown Vics. I miss the old American giant land yachts.

Would it be that hard to get the kids in the habit of wearing a seatbelt on paved roads? It hurts me to see Grady loose in the back seat, aimed at the windshield.

@@thepubliceye it’s oftentimes an honest question. I’ve met some really interesting people and world travelers by asking that question. I might even offer local points of interest to check out along their way. Getting people talking is also a good way to determine if they are impaired or intoxicated too.

I had a 99 p-71 (cop crown Vic). Absolutely loved it. It was so comfortable and actually pretty fast. I seen a video of a guy with one towing a trailer full of four wheelers. He had a 4bt in it so that’s a idea

Lucky you all had your seatbelts on. That would have been another ticket. In some states the driver get the seatbelt ticket if everyone don't have their seat belts on. Then in other states each person get their own ticket for no seat belt. Here in Minnesota, the driver is responsible for everyone in the car. So the driver get the ticket. I know, I got two of them.

Gotta jump in and defend Paul here on the speeding ticket. Those Ford/Merc/Lincoln land yachts were pretty sneaky rigs. 55 and 85 doesn't feel much different until you look at the dash.

Have owned and currently own an older Lincoln Town Car. These 4.6 2v's can barely get out of their own way, but at cruising speeds, they sure do float and can easily get away from you.
For future reference when doing night shots make sure the dome light is not in the shot itll help with white/light balancing

I am just wondering when are they going to figure out its not a Crown Vic but its a Lincoln Town Car.
It’s just like folks calling all UTV’s “Razors” for simplicity. The Crown Vic, Grand Marquis, and the Town Car are the same basic car, same drivetrain, chassis, components exc. The Lincoln is just Fords more premium line.
It is Fords Premium line. I own 3 Lincolns and a lot of crown vic parts are different from the Town Car. Plus I spent 42 years with Ford and GM. @@jimyeats
That Ford 4.6L tows well. In 1999 I towed my 1989 Honda Accord from Las Vegas to Oklahoma, with my 1995 Ford Thunderbird.
I-haul installed hitch and two wheel car dolly. Got 24 MPG towing. Got lots of funny looks.
Only drawback was the brakes were underpowered for that setup.
Good choice I would also put some helper air bags on the rear wheels. The back suspension is really soft.
Merlin tows a trailer across half the country at 85 and doesn’t get a ticket, and you guys get one doing 70.

You had to test the Crown-Vic to see if it gets tickets--now that door is open, they'll keep coming in!! I know that car has cruise control--should've used it! Which is worse: getting a ticket with Shawn and Hunter in the car or Merlin and Chad. My vote is worse with Merlin and Chad. Merlin might get them hauled off jail! Paul and Merlin together crossing many state lines...they may never make it home!! Great video.

This first gen 4.6 , two valve wasn't equipped with the later Spark Plug Ejection system of the 3 valve version.

i think this is a great idea! Ive towed plenty with a Grand Marquis, and it does great. It pulls like a half-ton truck, and that's plenty for the yellow submarine. I don't think it would be a bad idea to drive back either. Maybe have a support vehicle for when the project car gives you grief on the return trip. I'm super excited to see how it all turns out!
