This is a difficult aria to love if the rendition is not sincere and the voice is not quite right. This has both. Thank you Nadine.

You are right there! I saw her and Javier Camarena in Lucia at The Met, truly awesome. Nadine will go on and on, we will see more and more of her no doubt.
Yes, we will see her at the MET in December 2015 in Rigoletto . She makes a debut on Dec 2 replacing Olga Peretyatko as Gilda

I've listened to this aria live many times sung by at least 15 different sopranos, because it's right before my exit to the stage for "Riedo! Perchè?" And this is one of the best performances I've ever heard.

Well, “caro mio ben” is deceptively simple. It takes someone with a lot of refined skill to pull that aria off beautifully so maybe not the best example but I feel you.

I have to disagree with the stranger (der fremde). I think her voice and the color in her young voice is exciting. I will say that I, too, feel that there should have been real staccato in the descending line. Other than that, I think Stranger and his friend are much too critical, really absurdly overly critical, of this young woman's performance here.

Another one who looks like she's chewing while sustaining a note. What the hell is going on with these young singers and their shaking jaws?? Who the heck is teaching them?
You will need more colour if you want to sing Italian... legato before the trill is lazy... she doesn't even bother with some staccati... a piacere when she shouldn't... portamenti when she shouldn't... this song is so difficult, why do they so want to sing it so badly.
I AGREE with you. I am aware that she is still quite young. However, the voice lacks the NEEDED purity for what is demanded. She seems void of it. Therefore the SCREECHING and SQUEALING that results in a METALLIC and unwanted sound. However, I hope that is only a matter of poor technique that can be easily remedied. This is NOT YET my cup of tea.
Completely defer from you. There's a lot of "col canto" and "a piacere" in this aria. That's why there have been fabulous sopranos that have sung it differently. And she has the perfect voice and style for it.
Completely difere from you too. I hear roundness and purity of sound from the beginning till the end. Haven't heard this aria so well sung in a very long time. Completely loved it!

Jesus Christ. She is a young singer in a competition that has to deal with so much nervousness. She does a great job. Has a superb control and a voice of wonderful sheen. Why are you TH-cam critics do mean? Jealous?
/OUT OF TUNE. why? because she's not singing the right way.. Why nowadays all singers want to enlarge the sound???!!! In 1945-1960 they sung whitout doing that. AND ALL the singers usually could sing till 80 years old or more! but...nowadays..can you imagine why their career stops so early?..yes! they totally DESTROY their throat!

I appreciate everything a singer has to go through to even be singing on the stage, so please don't take my critique in a bad light, but I do have to say my opinion. I think she has physical beauty and even at times a beautiful sound, but she is displaying poor technique. She does not have a true bel canto voice or is properly suited for this role/aria. She needs to get with a better voice teacher who can get that larynx down and teach her proper Italian pronunciation and intention of the vocal lines. I think she has potential but she won't become a regular at the great Italian opera houses unless she takes studying more seriously. I do say these things with good intention to educate and to just generally state my opinion. Take care. A kiss, Antonio.

four years after the fact ... very nice but 1/3 sharp 1/3 on pitch 1/3 flat-and the staccato would have been nicer. Over all she's as good as the rest not really any better.

One of the best singers of this festival, good respiratory control and a free, beautiful voice full of harmonics. Great musicality in this aria. By cons, she could improve the low register of her voice,
