I saw the documentary of LiDar in Tikal and that was the first time I saw LiDar technology about 2 years ago and I was fascinated by it, and now to see this affordable option makes me want to buy one, thanks for sharing the results you got are way much better than I thought you would get, because of the price, but it was great, I’m from Guatemala and I live here in Guatemala so it is a very affordable option for the Indiana Jones type adventurer that lives inside me since the Mid 70’s, great video
Is there a way you can show how to attach the Livox LiDAR sensor to the drone? and something showing how a LiDAR mission would look like?? that could be awsome!
Good day! Most of the time I'm using LiDAR360 software. It's proven to get the job done in a fairly easy to use format. I think they have a 30 day trial. Check it out. I also have this online viewer ---> data.lidargear.com/Wildwood_Class.html
Hello. At minute 14:47 you show that you are using the Map Pilot app for the calibration flight. Do you also use the same application for the Lidar flight?
What do you think about the www.dji.com/zenmuse-l1/specs coming in 2021? I'm getting excited finally for the mapping world being brought into a reasonable price point.
He owns Rock robotics lidar, so he's not going to recommend his competitor. But his products does seem more precise on face value, if you believe his own review.
Do you use any ground control points? Do you use RTK tied to State Plane coordinate system(s) and NAVD88 for vertical? I didn't watch most of the video when I posted the previous questions. If you're using Ground Control Points, set them in locations where they "see" a lot of the sky and you'll improve accuracy. I use Pix4D to process my jobs. Doesn't seem to do as well with point classification. I might have to look into LIDAR system.
Very good review of this drone LidAR, looking forward to see more as I am also interested to see how different drone LiDAR's are performing and if it would suffice for small mapping projects. Looking forward to the next :D
I have the Matrice 210 RTK V2 with the DRTK 2 base. I notice you have additional RTK antennae on the drone. Is my built in RTK antennae on the drone used with the sensor? Also, Will the LiAir V integrate with the DRTK2 base for corrections or do I have to buy the LiAir base along with the sensor.
I am actually working right now on a SLAM based LiDAR system with the VLP-16. This will be a deep dive into some of the future uses of LIDAR! Handheld, indoor, under the forest canopy!
@@IndianaDrones thanks ! Also, can you tell us the all around price point for the system, excluding the drone ? Do you have an idea of the flight time with the m210 and this payload ? How big of an area do you think you can survey per battery set ?
Yeah, I actually think this is an area it will accel at. Because of the price and resolution. In archeology it is important to find the form of artifacts and not really concerned about the global accuracy down to the centimeter.
Hi! Indiana D. Thank you for the videos. We intend to buy a Lidar for Power Line inspections with drones. Looks like LiAirV is not fit for dense forestry penetration, used for topographic modeling. Have you performed further trials with this System to confirm this characteristic ?
Super interesting, thanks. I’ve been wondering what your background is? If you’re up for sharing. I’m a forester by training, and have been very interested in this tech for a few years. Nice to see it is now more cost effective.
Thanks for liking the video! Yeah, I started out as an experimental Physicist in optics. But this isn't how I ended up in the drone and LiDAR world...although it definitely didn't hurt. It important to always stay curious, and keep learning!
can this sensor be oriented differently to look forward/ tilt for scanning building rather than straight down at the ground? Also, could you comment on how much it may cost?
Hello would like to know how many returns the livox sensor has and if with those returns its enough to obtain the ground data in a terrein with dense vegetation
Hello, I am a follower of all your videos, I want to thank you since I learned a lot. I ask you a question, I bought a Lidar Liv 70 from the greenvalley company and I don't have the adapter to mount the 2 antennas and the gimbal I have is like it doesn't support the weight of the equipment. Could you tell me where I can get those two accessories? And another query. I see that you power the Lidar from the front connector, how do you power it? I hope you can help me. If not, thank you anyway.
Can you mount on a car and see if can do mobile mapping? I Can´t see why wouldnt but... And do like 2 passes and see how data overlaps by color coding by time or some tests like theese

Hey man, love your videos. Can I ask you what software you are using to view the data in this video?... Also, if your business was at the point where it was considering buying a single lidar scan system for your arsenal, would you recommend the Li Air V as a good system to start with or would you recommend sticking to renting a more expensive system? Thanks for any info, it is greatly appreciated.
Do you have a video of a comparison between lidar drone topo and a total station topo. Trying to get my boss into doing aerial with a drone instead of a plane but he wants to see the difference between the two
Hello! Thanks for posting another informative and to the point video. Do you think that this unit could be used to determine tree heights relative to the ground? I am a Forester and my company recently had an areial LIDAR survey done of one of our properties to find out tree heights. I was wondering if using something like this you could do the same thing. I live in Tennessee so the vegetation is thick but maybe during the winter it might work? Again nice work on the vids!
Yeah, I think this would do the trick. I've done this measurement with a Riegl sensor many times, and the LiVoX will definitely do the job in leaf off condition and I'm... Fairly confident it will do the same in full summer condition too
So I don't represent any one company but I'm happy to help you, or anyone else that wants some more information. Just send me an email: Harrison@theindianadrones.com

Thanks for your content. I have to wonder though. Your tight measurement compared to your road surface lidar data set (displaying an error span of 15 cm.) was at the bottom of your lidar points. When looking at the base station set up, your antennae is about 15 cm. above your point of elevation. Was this taken into consideration when you processed your lidar data? Also did you shoot the Base station point traditionally to confirm your opus solution. Keep up the great work! following for sure.

Hi this Livox mid 40 has got me enthused as I’m wanting a cost effective system for mapping commercial building interiors to convert the pointclouds to both photogrammetry 3D models and also cad plans and elevations. Please can you do a review please? Also what is the total price of the package you have used in this video minus the drone please and will you make a comparison between the mid 40 and the 100 ? P.s.keep making these videos!
It would be more interesting to see a more apples to apples comparison of photogrammetry and this system using sound techniques and processing solutions. DroneDeploy is fine for its niche but is not intended to be used for this type of use-case. Capturing the imagery using GCPs and then processing with something like Pix4D which will also classify the dataset (unlike DD) would really make comparing these two much more accurate.
This is a great suggestion. I have also recently ran into an accidental discovery with some photogrammetry missions for stockpile calculation. A buddy of mine flew two missions on the same day but different times and got volume measurements that were almost 20% different. I'm thinking to do a day where I do 6 flights throughout 1 day of the same gravel pile. LiDAR and photogrammetry and just see the intra day variability
You know, they claim 3 returns (with firmware mod) it would be a good test to see if it is getting true last or just the first 3. Or like the velodyne last and strongest
