Had a problem with 2 leather sheaths of Joker, 1 the same problem and the other the stitchings came loose, both replaced by Joker, no questions asked! Top company, love their knives!
Thanx for the review! Joker knives are very high on my shopping list for new knives! Cheers from a fellow knife enthusiast, youtuber from a village of Fiskars, Finland!
G'day Mark, totally agree, the value is there with Joker alright. I only have the one, (Nomad in N695), but the same level of craftsmanship and bang for buck is immediately apparent. I'm quite a fan of 14C for particular "designs and grinds", (at a fair price point) and I reckon Joker do understand there's different sized hands out there too. All in all, couldn't see anyone going too far wrong with their chosen model. Cheers Duke.
I’ve had my ember for about 6 months now and I really enjoy it. I have a few “better” (more expensive) knives that I pass up every time for my ember. Great review I think you will be pleased with the knife even against the Mora.
They are great Knives Mark ! I was just sent the bushcrafter to do a similar review and so far it has exceeded all my expectations ! Cheers my friend great look at some great knives !
Recently purchased the Joker Ember with Curly Birch handle as a result of this review. I’ve used it for over a month and the knife, sheath, and fire steel all perform well. Needed to lightly sand and oil the handle out of the box, but I would have done that regardless. My XL hand fits the knife quite well.
Hello Mark, good review. Both knives are reminiscent of the Horace Kephart profile, which I find very functional. I enjoyed the comparison to the Garberg which I have and find to be very useful. Thanks for your evaluation and thoughts on these two knives.
More joker reviews. They are the best value for high quality bushcraft/survival knives at the moment. So many great designs too! I just bought the bushcrafter and nessmuk in stag. Super impressed!
I'm a fan. I have the Montanero, which is a French trade knife style. It's flat ground 14C28N. I use it every chance I get. It's an extremely comfortable knife to use.
Yea I would think the 'Campero' and the 'Trampero' are the knifes for you. 'Trampero' in the micarta is crazy smooth and lovely. The micarta on 'Campero' is more textured and grippy and also very nice.
Hi Mark, nice looking knives, after some long term use your thoughts, and findings , as to edge holding, or any shortcomings that show up ,would be useful to we viewers/ potential buyers. Thanks for your time, and efforts to bring us this video, stay safe, best wishe's to you and your's, Stuart UK.
I have been running a Mora Garberg (same steel) along with these knives. So far, they are very comparable in terms of edge holding. My Jokers have taken a micro-bevel from the stropping I do which I feel helps with edge holding. Will likely do a long term use comparison between these two knives. Thanks for commenting
Joker ,makes great Knives. I own the Ember, The only thing that gives me pause ,are those Snaps used on the Dangler loop, they are to easy to come apart, not the strongest. Be careful using the Dangler. The value is there for theses Knives.
I agree. Joker make great knives. I am concerned about the snaps on the dangler as well. I turn the attachment inward so that the snaps are between my belt and my pants. Less likely to get caught on something and pulled off. Thanks for commenting
Are the two knives you reviewed, forged or stock removal, this point is very important. With a forged knife, there is some flexibility in the blade therefore ,you can go with a thinner blade with similar strength vs. a stock removal made blade. A thinner blade has less mass which slices better but the downside is the cost....another enjoyable and great review...
I don't have the Lars Falt, yet, but I think I would prefer it as it is a bit bigger handle and the blade is a bit more pointy. Having said that, there is a Joker version called the Bushlord which appears to be identical to the Casstrom. Quality of the Joker knives is very good. Thanks for commenting
This knife offer very good quality for the price I owe the Nórdico, Nomad ,and TBS and my Puukko from Finland great combination with an axe and a silky saw.
@@MarkYoungBushcraft Nomad I think is a beast ,the hardness of the metal could be better but you can always sharpen it if you go with the steel model of course you can sharpen any material I just meant easier. I don’t really batón my knifes for that I have few hatchets 👍🏻from Germany!
We enjoyed your video. Hubby is a "Hat Nut" and was admiring your hat. Can you tell me what kind of hat it is and where a person may look for one to buy? Thanks for a great informative video about these knives. Hubby has a few of them too!!! And is very impressed with them too.
As always, a very interesting review! If you have the opportunity, try to get a hold of the Joker Nomad. It is a bit of an economy Bark River: not the high end steel, but very capable, convex and a perfect balance and handle in my opinion. Just saying…
Everything is so much more expensive here in Canada, but I have to say these are reasonably priced. May be one of my next purchases at that price point!
Hmm.. not sure if I said it or not. The steel acts pretty much the same as on the Mora Garberg. I will likely do a side by side at some point. Thanks for commenting Jim
You won't be sorry. I now have two more Joker knives to review. Such high value knives. My hat is a Tilley. I have a review if interested. Thanks for commenting
Check out their bohler k720 carbon..l they do a crazy heat treat for 63-64hrc… stuff will Patina if you look at it wrong, but man is is an edge retention beat for the 90 or so dollars it cost.. they only offer it on a few models, but it’s worth it
I have a couple more of the Joker knives I am reviewing soon. Both in Bohler N690. I hope to test out a few more of their knives, maybe in K720. Thanks for commenting
You know as much as I like the looks and I love 14c28n. What I can't get past is they don't offer anything for lefthanded people. So I get a knife then have to buy another sheath. That changes the value. I ended up buying the mora Garberg because for $55 I got the stainless and the multi mount system. Can't imagine beating that value. My carbon knife is the BPS adventurer. Another one I gotta get a sheath for. Those spanish knives are beautiful. They used to be very affordable but they have went up $30-40 more in the last 2 years. I don't believe a bushcraft/survival knife should cost as much as a handgun.
You make a good point about sheaths being made available in left-handed models. I will reach out to Joker and ask about this. If I get an answer I will post under the video. Thanks for commenting
GREAT REVIEW. HAVE THE NÓRDICO W. WALNUT SCALES. THE JOKER’S 14C28N HARDNESS IS BETTER (58-60HRC): THE GARBERG’S IS ATOUCH TOO SOFT(56-58HRC), IE: THE SPANISH HEAT TREATMENT IS VERY, VERY GOOD & MORE EFFECTIVE WITH SUCH A TOUGH STEEL (SIMILAR TO AEB-L, WITH MORE BITE)
They do offer a few models in bohler k720 @ 63-64hrc… much nicer than thE stainless and way harder.. it’s a very high maintenance carbon steel though and will patina you finger prints if you Don’t wipe it down quickly
There are some differences to consider. The Ember is stainless steel where the JP is carbon steel. The Ember is a more refined bushcraft knife where the JP is more sturdy and begins to cross over to survival. Hope this helps
These knives are made in my land, I am glad to see that they are appreciated all over the world
Very well made knives. Thanks for commenting
I love my Spanish Joker Ember so much that I am looking at the Nomad 6.5 as a chopper and Avispa as a neck knife. Incredible craftsmanship and value.
Oui de la bombe , vous pouvez être fier 🙂
Had a problem with 2 leather sheaths of Joker, 1 the same problem and the other the stitchings came loose, both replaced by Joker, no questions asked! Top company, love their knives!
I think the newer sheaths (at least a couple I have) may be sewn at the belt look which I feel is better. Thanks for commenting
I hesitantly bought a joker last year. Underrated knife. Stout. Great sheath. Excellent value.
Very true. Thanks for commenting

I agree. Joker knives punch way above their weight class. Thanks for commenting
Great review Mark.
Both knives appear to be good performing and have a traditional bushcraft look.
Thanks again for a thorough review.
Cheers

Super video review! I have the Joker Bushcrafter knive and its fantastic! Gotta say this Ember just may be my next knife! Thanks for the review
Joker has a model called the Bushlord. Not sure if it is still available but I am hoping to buy that one. Thanks for commenting
Good looking knives and sheaths Mark , thanks for sharing , God bless !

I got it in olive wood and micarta.
