Hi, May the LORD GOD JESUS bless yr soul as today only I was able to overcome my failure of making string hoppers as I had a bad experience of making string hoppers with my mum when I was 17 - it was a disaster as it all could be turned back again to ball of flour which made my brother laughing. It took 40 years for me to try it again, GBU!
Hi anoma aunty what yr doing is a good job we are learning many recipes from u thanks for the good work .I made yr date cake recipes it came perfectly .my question is there are many wariety of rice flours in the market whats is the flour that u used to make this string hoppers
Thanks Aunty for the nice demo.Is the store-bought flour "String hopper flour" or just "roasted rice flour"? If it is just roasted rice flour bought from store, what do we add? hot water or water at room temperature
Dear Mrs. Anoma, As I can remember my mom steams the wheat flour before she uses for string hoppers. I LAst time when I tried to prepare Stringhoppers with wheat flour it got very hard and was really difficult for me to press. The same thing happened with the rice flour. Do I have to steam the flour? if yes then for how long ? and is it enough to fry them ? and how long should I do it ?
Dear Anoma, Thanks for the string hopper receipt and the meathod! I have to make a comment! Using plastic string hopper “ watts” is absolutely no good, it can lead to Cancerous situation! Yes not every one but a risk is there ! I use rattan ( “ Wewal” ) ones! I never wash it after I use it! Do you know why! ?! Because it is sterilized, steaming it while cooking! I only dry it under the son ! Kindest Regards! Leonard Fernando. Bandarawela.
