      Thanks! I really dropped the ball on the audio on this one. You can tell that there was just one shotgun mic on a boom that no one was monitoring. We only had one lav and I was the one wearing it :) Subject for a future video, perhaps?

      Very nice idea and tutorial! I also noticed some inconsistencies in the audio edit, but the tutorial is focused on the video, rather than the audio, so it's fine... Can I ask you what sound backline you used here? I mean what mic and what recorder...
      Thank you!

      I loved what i learned from the video, but I didn't feel like the actors were on the same page. JD seemed to be playing it straight and Reina was delivering comedy. Other than, I have yet to see a Rubidium video I didn't like.

    That's helpful! I suppose this might also also useful for an interview, one in which you'd want to show the interviewer. Would you suggest it in that situation as opposed to a scripted scene?

    Love your stuff man... It's so damn good how you light everything! As a fan of good photography I finally have a small budget to invest in lighting. Since everything in my country is so damn overpriced... would you mind giving a quick tip on what is a good "combination of essentials" to cover most needs when it comes to close ups and interviews (softboxes, LEDs, cheap lights, etc)? I'm starting to shoot a lot of it and I see you achieve amazing looks with no more than 3 or 4 sources of light most of the time :P

    • @Crimsonengine
      @Crimsonengine  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Thiago. I have a video on different LED lights and what they look light coming out next week but I also like the idea of the 'essentials' pack. What I did here was just diffuse the window and use light to raise the level in the room. Glad you're getting something out of the vids!

    • @Crimsonengine
      @Crimsonengine  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I shot with a low ISO, 400 i think, to reduce grain but I didn't do anything for grain in post. I may have lowered the midtone detail in resolve to -10, but thats it. Reina is just one smooth looking lady :)

    Rubibididium Wu, I was going through Benro's website S series for a 75mm dish and a fluid head tripod and a monopod rig with a desktop hi-hat to finish it off. I came across your video for the slider and WOW! Benro is such a value and the MCA01/MOVE ON 10 took me by surprise. Too cool! Tripods and a slider rig, spin dial, and programmability all in one compact package? DEAL! SUB'D and LIKED! I'll reach out to you on Gmail for one other question. Best filming technique channel on YT ever. Bar none!

    why is the skinton at 90ire level and shifted to the yellow area?

    • @Crimsonengine
      @Crimsonengine  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sharp eyes! Short answer: Its not - the 90IRE is the white wall behind her, the red spike is her shirt. This is one of the reasons false color is better than the Histogram for this kind of thing. There are a couple of false color LUTS floating around...

  • @nandoblondemobydick5438

    you have a little too much space at her right, that´s a bit distracting for optimum composition, maybe you need cheating and diagonal a bit the line between their eyes, in the way the depth of the shot was between the two persons, i´m not filmaker, but i´m very well formed in photography, in particular composition, you also can play with the tone of the background to get more depth making it just a bit darker, thanks for your teaching i really don´t know nothing about filmaking techniques

    Just 1 camera?

  • @charlesleroq932
    @charlesleroq932 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I don't understand this technique - It seems you are serving no storytelling objective but loading shots with distracting, unmotivated movement because you have a slider and are able to. I personally found the scene at the end, rather woozy to look at.
    Surely the problems you mentioned could be addressed by blocking a scene better? If the actor in the plane nearest the camera moves around too much, then you could direct them to keep still more. After all, they aren't really the subject of the shot.

    • @Crimsonengine
      @Crimsonengine  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Interesting point, Charles. It both the actors movement that effects the OTS, and yes, you could simply tell them when to move and when to stay still. But even with the best actor, this will have an effect on their performance and they will necessarily come across more posed and less spontaneous. Its not right or wrong, just a different style.

    I'm surprised because I have watched a few of your videos so I expected more from the cinematography.
    1. The color grade is not very filmic. It looks like a commercial.
    2. The color grades are different in the head shots vs the 50/50 shots
    3. Sound was not very good.
