I built one my self. It's been over a year without having to replace the water.
Behind the mini waterfall, I build a mechanic and bio filter. At least I have to maintain the filter every 6 months or so.
Same as you did, I too put water lilies and small fishes.
Since mine is outdoor, I provided rainwater drainage in my setup.

Really beautiful.... I admire your work... I know why you put banana tree inside the pond for 5 days.. Because the banana tree will suck up the chemical toxic from the cement... So it will be safe for aquatic animals to lives in there...Excellent work...😊😀

@@frankielacapria335 . New cement pond has always toxic chemical. So you have to use it to treat the smell of cement.

pH: Cement is Alcaline, so the water. Palm is acid and level the pH.
Soil: clean river sand and gravel (never beach sand)
Filter: Pumice, porouse volcanic stones.

What does the banana plant do to the water?
Banana tree suck the toxic chemical in cement, reduce CO2 in water and make the pond safe for aquatic living creatures.
Similar to a reseal glass tank , even when silicone is dried you cannot put fish in until its 100% fully cure. You did you think you can put water in right away then fish? Fish would die right away. The concrete is toxic even when dried. You got to fill water then drain and do it a few times. Days/weeks later repeating the cycle then its fish safe. I guess the banana removes and absorbs the toxins.

What does chopping up a banana plant do for the water?
New pond is not good for fishes. So, you should chop up a banana plant and wait for 1 week to treat water and smell of cement as video does. If not, your fishes are easy to die soon.

@@arifbobnp You can also use coconut leaves or if you dont have all of the above, just let the pond full of water for a month or 2 until you can not smell the toxic chemical in cement.

I have a pond with two goldfish a beta and a angel fish in my home and there all getting along been 6 months now
I have a 6 goldfish and 2 Angel's in the same tank and they get along great I've never seen them have any issues however it also depends on the fish

@@zZiL341yRj736 I'm not very sure, but as a fish keeper, we have a habit of using certain leaves to condition the water. Like almond tree or guava or banana leaves, it can be linked to reducing the pH of the water. I have asked him the same question an hour ago to double check, lets see.
