I got into model kits because of minipla. I started with the super minipla Dino Megazord and now I’m building kits for Toy Story, Star Wars and Gundam. It’s been a fun hobby while in quarantine.
I was never able to get into model kits as a kid. The painting and gluing seemed kind of intimidating. I like that minipla doesn't really involve that, which makes it more fun for me. I remember when I had this one kit of Obi-Wan starfighter from Episode III, but I lost it. I actually didn't know they had Toy Story ones. I might check them out actually.
I still prefer buying DX, I have a couple of miniplas but it's not as satisfying to combine like the DX. I dunno, I think I just like the clicking and secured sound when combing the DX that's missing from minipla. I can also store them in its box after playing with it. but I gotta give props to minipla for the poseability though.
So here's a fun little fact about Minipla... the candy has a longer shelf life than the stickers do. See, I'm trying to assemble a Safari Gaoh kit, and apparently, five and a half years is long enough for the previously-sealed stickers' adhesive to completely fail, leaving all of the Resshas looking rather unfinished. Meanwhile, for shits and giggles, I decided to see if one of the candies was still edible... and it was.
I got your concern. In terms of articulation, Hasbro's gonna release the first DX-size megazord that can do both combination and action (Dino Fury combining zords). I'm really looking forward to see this toy line, after thousands of year. To me, each line has its own pros and cons, DX is solid, big and really detailed, while MP/SMP is actionable, but there're some problems as you said. Finally, the choice is yours. But don't forget the upcoming combining zords from Hasbro, which hopefully possibly replace both DX and MP/SMP at some point.
I’ve been collecting gunpla for a while and I’ve been building legos since I was a little kid, so I really like the minipla line. I only have a few so far, but I really like them. They’re fun to put together and a lot more posable. I still have a few of my old DX from when I was younger, but I’d say I’m more into the minipla system now
My biggest problem with minipla is the durability (at least for the ones I got). I got all the ToQger mech’s minipla, and most of them broke at the joints within a couple of months with the worst example being Build Dai-Oh. I assembled Build Dai-Oh right before I went to bed; When I woke up, nearly every joint had broken and it had fallen apart (It didn’t even last 8 hours). When I got LuPat, I went for the DX line instead, and only got one break, which is my fault for being too rough with it. Also, if anyone finds this comment, how can I fix that break? Or how can I figure out how to fix that break? The spinning gimmick on the Xtrain broke, and I can’t get one of the screws out because it’s either stripped or not a screw.
The prices of both Minipla and DX Mecha vary from one retailer to another. Mandarake for example has extremely high prices for Ohranger and Gaoranger but lower prices for Boukenger, Gekiranger and Zyuohger.
Neither are better, both have their faults. Either you pay too much for a brick or pay wayyy too much for a smaller figure that you have to assemble yourself. Even the chogokin figures have faults with their joints/poseability. Best thing for me personally is just the DX toys, more bang for your buck.
@@toku-punk atleast with a gundam kit you know what you're getting into. Also gundam kits give you more options than stickers, and the joints don't look as cheap/ covered up with armor.
I come back to watching this video and your 5 wanted smp video, thanks for making them. I had the same experience as you when building minipla or smp, except I got through building shogun and astrodelta before finally getting a gunpla tool kit for building ninja. It was definitely like night and day.
Hi, i used to have a lot of dx as a kid and kinda want to get back into it except with minipla. I was just wondering if there was any minipla sets for spd or mystic force?
Well done. I started to get into Super Minipla for the added articulation and the fact I was getting Megazords I did not get in the Legacy line. They can get pricy though and are not always easy to find. Thanks for the suggestions of places to buy them. Keep up the great work.
Thank you so much! Given their not the main toys, minipla can be pretty hard to find. And if it's a P-Bandai release.. good luck! However, I think Mandarake has the best prices since they're directly from Japan. Though I also really like Kotetsu Toys Japan as they have a variety from different shows.
Yeah minipla are great because they can be moveable and also I don't like assembling them Deluxe is kinda good It a kid only robot toy They can move hand forward or some hand were moveable some weren't
I’m a Minipla / SMP collector because I like to build and enjoy the consistency of size. But if I started earlier and had the money, I wouldn’t mind the DX version since I don’t care about the articulation, and most time you don’t need to swap/add parts to change forms or combine.
This makes me more grateful for my Super Mini-Pla MMPR Megazord and Dragoncaesar. I love them but I always forget about them when they're just sitting on my desk lol hope to buy some in the future 🙂
@@JulioCoolioClassic I agree, the Zyuranger/MMPR zords I got were pretty expensive. Ik I'd definitely want the Thunderzord/Dairen-oh. I'd love to see how they engineer that to make it well articulated.
Thanks for the video, I love anything about sentai mecha or ranger megazords but I wasn’t really aware of what miniplas were about but now I know! I personally think that DX is better because of the gimmicks, large size, and quality, but articulation and price seem like huge advantages for minipla lines and I get the appeal for someone who wants something smaller
Even though I always thought they had cool posing and were really impressive, I never really liked the minipla because of their size and the fact that you had to put an effort to put them together for a finished product. But that almost made a complete 180 on me after getting some figure-rise kits for Kamen Riders. I’ll always prefer the deluxe version, but these kits kind of have my interest now. If Zenkaiger doesn’t get adapted into PR, I might get the Minipla versions instead of the DX versions. And I’m definitely getting the Super Minipla for the Pre-Zyuranger seasons
I just bought both megazord and dragonzord from eBay Japan for $250 new and can’t wait to build them and if I like it I will by the shogun megazord mini. I wanted the legacy versions but they cost way to much lol.
I have a minipla before and remember I hate them a lot because of the stickers and the lack of tools because I was poor. Edit: Also I remember that my fingers sometimes bleed out, get stick by the stickers and having my finger nails get cut out trying to separate the wrong pieces.
The tools really make a difference in Minipla. I hated building Muteki Shogun. But after I got my tools, the Ryusoulger kits were a breeze. Sadly most people don’t mention the need for tools, which makes newcomers feel ripped off when building isn’t as easy as other claim it is.
I personally love Minipla as of late, being interested in seasons that otherwise, I don’t think I’d at all be interested in. I was never a fan of Kiramager, and planned on skipping it, but absolutely fell in love with the special set of legs for Smog Jouki that came with Gigant Driller. I really think it’s a person to person thing like do you want something big and pretty much ready for play or do you want to build and put together something that’s smaller and more practical with more articulation
Same. I'm liking minipla given I want to create battle scenes in my displays, but the DX toys are also really cool. It's really just s matter of which one you want more.
Even with the added articulation the miniplas don´t as look as sleek in the show because they have still the same proportions like the DX Toys. So I would rather go for a big and stable DX Mecha.
I think you are having difficulty with the stickers because you are handling them. Stickers + hand oil = bad time. Use IPA 99% to clean off the plastic surface first, then use tweezers to handle the sticker. As soon as you touch the adhesive it's game over.
Can you add all of the minipla megazord product names in discription im tryin to get a power rangers minipla megazord collection goin i already have 1 and thats the predazord from power rangers wild force
It’s more the size that’s the difference. Dx has the size and smoother transformation but minipla has the posability and display option at a smaller size.
I definitely prefer the mini pla line. Just wish they weren't expensive. I like them because they're smaller and take up less space. They're all roughly the same height unlike the DX versions. Also, they can "fight" bad guys. The DX versions don't have anyone big enough to fight.
I would like Miniplas (after all I already build a lot of Warhamner miniatures). But because they are so expensive and hard to find (in my country at least), i'm going to stick to the DX versions
some of the minipla are notorious for "cheat parts". parts that come from nowhere and have to be stored elsewhere in between transformations (or bandai just hates gridman?). this decreases the fun of transforming. but space is really a compelling argument. furthermore, DX versions, due to manufacturing back then and the occasional inclusion of electronic features, tend to get chunky/blocky.
The"cheat" parts are a good point. Sometimes they confuse the transformation as they're not in the show. Though I think it's sort of like figuarts where certain poses require certain extensions. upon building minipla, you need to watch Gunpla building tutorial (nub removing, sanding, cementing, painting) now, DX or Minipla DX is literally design to be played with, you know, kids holding them, punching a giant rubber dino toy as an enemy monsters (cos neither hasbro or bandai is keen on selling enemies unlike Ultraman), also, gimmicks really makes kids go Woooooohw.... Miniplas... are like Gunpla, you build them and pose them, and display them, they are not designed to beat each others, you can only choose what they looked like before storing them into shelves, some people buy 2, for the individual machines and the combined robot all in all, if you only want to store the megazords on shelves, photo shoot them with backgrounds, or make a diorama like scene, go with minipla but if you want to play with your mega zords(there is no right age for playing, even if you are pass 20, you can still play with toys) then Go for the DX
I really do agree with your points, point for point. If I had the space and money, sure, I would by all the DX. But the minipla has something that just clicks inside of me, like legos. I've always admired the micro-ness of minipla (and the micro zords from RPM) and have always wanted to get into them. This video definetly helped making my decision to switch to minipla!
I think I like better minipla because by their scale of 6 inches you can make scale with sh monsterarts and neca godzilla figures and make various stop motions but also are more poseable for a cheaper price than a soul of chogokin
I think I would prefer DX but I would prefer if they made action figures for megazords as non combining figures cause I don't think minipla is for me cause you have to build it yourself
I haven't collected mini pla. The last megazord if we can call it. Wad the wreaker zord. But if we're talking about actual megazords. The The plesio charge megazord. I wanna get a super sentai toy. But idk what to get. I was hoping zenkai oh, kishiryuoh either normal 3 knights or 5 knights. Or yokuryu oh
Leopardon inspired the megazords as we know them today, thought that was SpiderMan and not PR. But it also get a super Minipla recently along with other non-Sentai robos like Voltron.
I’ve been buying Minipla recently for megazords and I’m considering getting a few Sodo Kamen Riders. If Bandai continues similar figures to the Zenkai Change ones, I think I’d get those instead of yudo.
Minipla may be smaller, but keep in mind. One model kit will lead to another. Pretty soon you're cursing fate while building the worst ever Gundam kit to build.

but if you want to play with your mega zords(there is no right age for playing, even if you are pass 20, you can still play with toys) then Go for the DX
Honestly as someone who built a model kits such as tanks, aircrafts and figures, I would choose Minipla
Im here bc idk
Will you do Power Rangers Dino Fury vs Ryusoulger ?
I think I like better minipla because by their scale of 6 inches you can make scale with sh monsterarts and neca godzilla figures and make various stop motions but also are more poseable for a cheaper price than a soul of chogokin
Brother compaining about plastic sticking while Gundam Builder laugh
2:17 😐 Hikari Sentai Maskman 1987
Choujuu Sentai Liveman 1988
Turn out the arms from wild force fits on spd red zord
I Got All DX Ryusoulger/Ryuusouger/Ryuusoulger Mecha/Kishiryu and DX Kiramager/Kirameiger/Kiramiger Mecha/Mashins.
Welcome to gunpla my guy where everything has to be built lol
I like both minipla and dx mecha but i never bought a minipla and dx mecha
I like both minypla and deluxe toys
I think I would prefer DX but I would prefer if they made action figures for megazords as non combining figures cause I don't think minipla is for me cause you have to build it yourself
I really wanna find a dinothunder and ninja storm minipla
minipla is good if you want articulation
DX is good for the size and gimmicks
I haven't collected mini pla. The last megazord if we can call it. Wad the wreaker zord. But if we're talking about actual megazords. The The plesio charge megazord. I wanna get a super sentai toy. But idk what to get. I was hoping zenkai oh, kishiryuoh either normal 3 knights or 5 knights. Or yokuryu oh
What about leopardon that started it all?
Leopardon inspired the megazords as we know them today, thought that was SpiderMan and not PR. But it also get a super Minipla recently along with other non-Sentai robos like Voltron.
Hey so Yhea the shogun Zord isn’t that good is problaby the worst
minipla im thinking getting the kyuranger megazord
I have a idea buy like minipla, sodo and yudo figure because lego is need to build and minipla need to build so collect them that my recommendation
I’ve been buying Minipla recently for megazords and I’m considering getting a few Sodo Kamen Riders. If Bandai continues similar figures to the Zenkai Change ones, I think I’d get those instead of yudo.
@@JulioCoolioClassic yeah
@@JulioCoolioClassic that my recommendation
@@JulioCoolioClassic and Subscribe to my channel
Wait what are your thoughts on Dino Fury cause i hated beast morphers lacking common sense
dx megazord and dx sentai robo too.
Legacy:why am I forgotten
Minipla may be smaller, but keep in mind. One model kit will lead to another. Pretty soon you're cursing fate while building the worst ever Gundam kit to build.
i buy my minipla from doorzo there i got the full ryusoulger line for 60 dollars
Minipla is basically non grade gundam
Both
For some reason I want a super Sentai and power rangers crossover. I know weird. But I know It will never happen due to rights issues.
Your not weird I want one just as bad as you lol
Power rangers are cool 😎
That’s a tougher one bc it’s awsome n tbh
I don't consider model kits to really be toys.
Holy fucking shit did they just make a catch phrase from your name? Have you seen the PRDF ep4
I saw it a few minutes ago. It felt so surreal yet honoring!
@@JulioCoolioClassic you absolutely have to make a react vid now
@@JulioCoolioClassic this means Ollie's one of your viewer
I don't really like American's original mold
minpla saves more space on shelf
minipla has win you can put megazord in action pose
Those are t tweezers…. Come on dude
Gunpla fans: EZ
I personally love Minipla as of late, being interested in seasons that otherwise, I don’t think I’d at all be interested in. I was never a fan of Kiramager, and planned on skipping it, but absolutely fell in love with the special set of legs for Smog Jouki that came with Gigant Driller.
As someone who already loves painting and customizing transformers already, these are the perfect blank canvases for me to flex my artistic muscles.
Even this week! I fell in love with Zenkaiger just by deciding to do Zenkaioh, I only planned to get the two forms of Zenkaioh. But now? God I fear for my wallet because noe I want the whole season!
Minipla is fantastic
