It's one of the busiest, and the nearby Waterloo bridge connects to the more upmarket north bank of the Thames. It's a gritty grubby working corner of the city, but as the sun sets, it adds a magic at the end of the day. There was much speculation about Terry and Julie when the song was in the charts. The two actors were considered likely subjects. There are about a dozen songs seriously worth considering. How about... Dedicated follower of fashion. Sunny Afternoon. Come Dancing You really got me. Lot of great stuff in their catalogue.

The Kinks song "Come Dancing" was also inspired by Davies' older sister who died young. She loved going to the old English dance halls, and, ironically and sadly, died from an unforseen health issue while attending a dance there.

The Kinks are the most underrated and underappreciated band of all time, IMHO. And yes, the album is called SOMETHING ELSE BY THE KINKS. It's a masterpiece.
TheKinks were a unique groundbreaking original British band that set musical standards that other bands try to follow though mostly could not !Celluloid Heroes, Come Dancing and Father Christmas are some of The Kinks best tunes!

Lola and this song are two of my least favorite Kinks efforts. I'm quite surprised to read the glowing comments here. To each his own, I guess. Their groundbreaking contributions to music came through 'You Really Got Me' and 'All Day And All Of The Night". 'Come Dancing' is also very different but good - especially if you are wearing roller skates.
According to Bowie, who knew a thing or two about music, the Kinks never wrote a bad tune.
