That's a great question:) To use Thyrain in front of the boss, ppl normally gather at 6 and look toward 12 altogether. The boss appeara in front of the random player. So in that way, the boss 100% appears at center looking at players at 6. Then party leader can use Thyrain in front of the boss for sure.
It's difficult to distinguish and normally people say there's no way to distinguish it. However, if you get used to it, the boss moves a bit more as the green skull shines. The boss does not move until the skull shines if it's 90 degree.
