just another note for this. The thing that determines if you get petrified is not necessarily if you are in front, it's the amount of time spent outside of his shadow. As you can still get petrified being behind him outside the shadow. It seems the safe bet is to make sure you enter the shadow area within 1 second. Outside of that time, your chances of getting petrified are pretty much guaranteed. I think many folks have seen ATK run around akkan in a circle with his artist, and completely ignoring the mech. It seems there is probably a timer for when your character steps out and is reset upon re-entering the shadow Another tip would be to avoid using your spacebar. Unless your spacebar gets you into the shadow. So doing an L shape with your spacebar will tend to get you stoned most of the time. Since the time of your spacebar is about a second (depending on your class), followed with the time it takes to take a step or two into the shadow. I find being right up against the boss worked for me very well once i got the hang of it. I never spent more than a second outside of his shadow and got the mech down pretty well. This was on 2 spec classes with no swift.
That timer that you speak of is when he stops moving. When Akkan is moving, 90 degrees or 180, he will not petrify you. He will petrify you if he stopped moving and you have not reached his shadow. This mech is very frustrating the first few tries, but once you learn his patterns and timing, it gets easier, although you can still fail it from time to time.
this is from Maxroll's guide: "This pattern can be split into 3 rounds. Each round consists of 3 individual “turning moves” except for the 3rd segment, which is always a 180° rotation to one side and slowly rotating back to the default position." I really only see 2 rounds of 3 moves in this video....Muncheezlol is definitely better at explaning thank you very much.
Honestly in your example you're moving too late. You can only get frozen if you fall behind. You can go to the final location as soon as the green flash happens. The best thing you can do is move as early as possible and remember that the final turn will always go back to the initial spot.
Yes that was the point I was trying to make. This footage is from me learning how to do the fight. Even though I was moving a little too late as long as I was moving the correct direction I was still able to complete the mechanic without being petrified :3
So is it safe to immediately move once the lantern glows? I've noticed it glows and akkan takes like half a sec to move and a lot of times, I'll make it BUT STILL fking get petrified somehow.
@@succubusfan7206 Yeah it helps to think of it like an attack that happens when the turn is over. It also helps to watch the animation as you're moving to a 90 degree spot as the 180 is a much more violent animation.
@@succubusfan7206 I believe so but someone told me if you're too fast and you move too far out ahead of time you'll get petrified. I haven't tested this because I'm too scared to die for science lol. But yes don't be afraid to move a little early.

this is a really nice guide for akkan. was almost able to clear G2 withi a couple tries. that 2nd lantern mech is what always get me.
