Hi, great video, very helpful. I have a 92 300e it starts easy and runs freak when cold, after it gets warmed up say 15-20 mins of driving it starts missing and sputters , if I keep driving it will stall at idle and chug badly. Please help, i don't have alot of money :) will a coil act up when warmed up ?
hi, i have a 190e w201, it seems that when trying to crank the engine, no crank and fuel pump and relay has been changed and has a sound, and dashlight appears, but no cranking or even starting sound, and previously, the car started, but will turn off all of sudden no power at all, tried playing with the ignition cable at the key part, then power comes back, any idea? need help! thanks!
intersting... my 300ce does exactly the same at the moment, have tried swapping back to an older cap with no improvement- but it does spark if you test it on a plug outside the engine. Did you do any further dignostics before replacing the coil? I was about to start going over everything else as it seems to be getting a spark, but it splutters, backfires and smokes just like at the start of your video when trying to start?
@@MustangMotors yup, looks almost brand new (Its a Bosch cap thats only a year old) and behaves just the same when I swap to an old (working) cap. My coil is the only part of the ignition system I've not replaced, until watching your vid I'd assumed it would fail entirely if there was a problem. Going to try and get one tomorrow.
Just as an update for anyone reading- fitted a new coil and it fired right up. BUT died 10mins later, did the same the next day and today (3rd day) won't fire at all. If I ever fix it I'll put on here what I did, so as not to add to the mountain of unfinished 'my 124 won't start' info online haha
@@aammadmustafa5985 oops, guess I forgot to update this! I swapped back to an old rotor arm and it immediately ran perfect. So the Bosch one I changed less than a year before 'just to be safe' actually caused me a huge amount of hassle!
Great music!
so it was the coil?
REDKILLER yes sir it was thanks for watching

Matt Teee hi thanks for watching. Have you checked the distributor cap for corrosion or such

You didn’t give it a chance to start - turned it off after a couple of turns..... I don’t think there was anything wrong wrong with the coil at all
Hi is this an expensive part/fix?
Aammad Mustafa hi no it’s not about £50
Nice
I'm having trouble starting mine not even the lights from the screen is turning on
