in the early 2000s, cartoon network commissioned a bunch of songs and music videos for new and old cartoons. one of them was for Jabberjaw, an old Scooby-Doo clone about a shark in a band in an underwater city. it’s one of my favorite ska songs, despite the band who made it (Pain) insisting they hate ska. some combination of “cartoon groovies” “jabberjaw” and “running underwater” should bring up the video
it's impossible to count the times these guys have pulled me from the edge. every new album they release seems to be exactly where i am in my life, so thank you less than jake. I owe you guys my life
Couldn't say it better myself. Every time I needed something relatable in all the chaos, they released something bang on time. "Look What Happened".... holy sh*t, that should be a national anthem
***** Talent should be more important than fucking looks. They may look similar but Chris and just Less Than Jake in general is much better than Green Day ever was, but i agree that Green Day was good back in the day.
I work as a line cook in a chain pub and corporate has decided that I have to hear this song at least once every shift. I'd never heard it before but now it's irreversibly stuck in my head forever.
I'm surprised this song wasn't more successful. It's catchy as hell. I guess people don't like horns in their rock music. And why did they take the horns out of the bridge in this video? wtf?
This song has so much meaning to me. i interpreted some of the lyrics differently but basically I had no friends was depressed and wallowed in self pity feeling like there was nothing i could do about it. When i hear "i drank my frustrations" i think about how i was addicted to codiene promethazine cough syrup & vicodin & how i was using them to cope with stress. i realized that i was my own worst enemy because of this song. now im much more stable and have much more close friends. THANKS LTJ
Everyday I fell more and more identified by this song. At first it was the rythim, then some lines and now the whole song. I've listening to this at least once a week for the past 2 years now... crazy.
Leave it up to Ska to do what it always does by taking the crappy things life has to offer and vent your frustrstuons positively. Every once in a while I get on a Ska kick and discover something new. This band is new to me and I love the mellow flow.
I still love this song (and this band) after sooo many years... They will always be one of my favourites. ♡ I remember dancing and singing to their albums in my room when I was 17 years old... Now I'm 32 and I still love them. :) Of course I don't listen to them very often anymore - but everytime I DO, it just throws me back to those times.. :)
I love that song by streetlight manisfesto! I hear you. My favorite by reel big fish is their "take on me" cover. Man have you heard of the Planet Smashers? If not, go check them out. very good ska
I hung out with these guys and they're very humble and really fucking cool. I was 17 maybe 18 and I met them backstage at a Warped Tour. Hung out for a couple of hours and was basically living on a friends couch and didn't have shit. I got food, cigs and beer. I met Pennywise too so it was a awesome night to say the least for a punk rocker like myself.
Hell yeah dude, I met Roger at Warped Tour years ago, he was just hanging out at their tent and selling their merch himself. He was such a nice and humble guy and he signed my ticket.
This song almost literally talks to you, and I don't know if it's for empathy of the writer or his self-connection that he wrote this, but I feel so listened without even giving a word.
I blast this shit near children to try to get them to listen to old good stuff. They actually like it. Well some do, some give me the bird. It's about 50/50
A lot of different styles of music come and go, but yeah, it's a shame. I don't give a fuck; I listen to the same shit I did when I was in high school/college. I'm 34.
When this album first came out, I truly didn't appreciate it, over the years it has earned its place in my LTJ collection and I am irritated with my past self for hating it
Now you get to enjoy it fresh! It's a blessing in disguise! Like not seeing a really good movie yet - sure you "missed out" but what did you miss out on? You get the experience when you enjoy the movie, not from speaking of the experience :D Jokes aside I know whatcha mean: passing over a song in the past that has lyrics that hit home later is kinda like nostalgia: bittersweet.
The amazing thing about this song is that it cures a sense of hopelessness. Not because it makes me want to change how I am, but it feels good to know that other people are just as fucked up as i am.
Shawn Fields I'm 26 and I'm suffering for a mistake I made at 19 it's hard to not be consumed by self loathing and depression don't be like me if you're whole try and be happy:)

This song is a perfect example of ska. Catchy, upbeat rhythm, downbeat lyrics! Fantastic!
Hit the nail on the head
Often find it hard to describe ska punk. From now on, it'll be easy

AGREED! So many of "my theme songs" are Less than Jake, and theyre never not applicable.
@@onequestiononly IDK about that, us LTJ fans love their music but their music isn't meant for a mainstream audience unfortunately.
I've come to my senses that I've become senseless. What a brilliant opening line.

One of the fucking most catchy songs I've ever heard. These guys are so good. They were my first concert.
You should probably be embarrassed by that comment

@@mr.e-machine9422 You're not wrong. If you haven't go see Less Than Jake live. Singing this one with the crowd feels great.
I missed my chance to see them years ago

I listened to this song before I even understood its meaning. Now it describes me to a T. It's a perfect example of how music transcends time.
Yes indeed
83 here still fighting myself.
I could honestly listen to this song all day long.....
I only found about it two days ago.. been on repeat ever since
My childhood was fire. Seen these guys 7x.
I saw them twice, but I would go again. They put on a great performance.
i saw them 5 times at the rave in Milwaukee, wi. lost shoes, glasses, and friends in the mosh pits there
I was 14 when this song was released. I didn't understand it back then, but at 28 I sure as hell understand it now!
God damn 4 years ago? Where the hell did the time go? I still feel the same way at 33 years old.
Roger singing is the sweetist thing ever 💕
the sun is shining, listening to Less than Jake, it's going to be another good day.

I'm surprised this song wasn't more successful. It's catchy as hell. I guess people don't like horns in their rock music. And why did they take the horns out of the bridge in this video? wtf?
I think that's what makes them all the more original
Dude there's still horns in the bridge. But I like ska. Band's from the era are good.
Ben Suby
Listen to the album version and compare it to this version. They definitely took some horns out of the bridge for this version.
Akksol Hmmm wtf you're right, the sax is gone ~2:00 bridge
