      Motorcyclist put in more effort than the homeowner, neighbors, and firefighters, combined.

    As a retired professional firefighter from the U.K. congratulations on a job well done. Only possible improvement would have been to aim the water at the base of the flames where the actual burning material was, not at the flames themselves, but that would be “nit-picking”. You certainly acted better than could have been expected of anyone in the same situation. I would have had a problem if I had been in charge of the fire-crew that attended. Total lack of urgency/energy and no apparent teamwork between them. You can be legitimately proud of your actions. Well done!

    I am a firefighter in South Carolina and I’ve just got to say thank you for what you did. But just so you know the man with the walki talkie was our battalion fire chief at Boiling Springs, what he was doing was called a walk over. Which is performed every call we respond to so we know what truck we need to dispatch to the scene.

    • @dirtybird437
      @dirtybird437 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      You need the first truck that has any amount of water in it, besides the Squad Truck carrying bandaids and splints. Doesn't matter if its a Ladder truck, Engine, or Pumper. Just get water going, and the 2nd truck can either Become primary attack, or Feeder/Secondary to what is already on scene.

      @@zacharyhardie4830 Cool cool, your whole point goes to shit when you look at the mess this whole ordeal was tho.
      "lemme put the hose on this fence" the trained firefighter sergeant? Lieutenant? said. Fuck all is what it did because it snagged and whoopsie the firefighter is stuck without and play in the line. GG WP
      "lemme put them hoses here" the trained firefighters said, laying em out in a way that just scream "Im a kinky bitch, i wanna be bend over HARD".
      You see where im going? "It was one little fire" yeah sure but homie here more or less saved the day because for some reason I feel like if they would have done nothing and just sat and watched, the house would have taken quite some more damage.

    As a firefighter i would also commend you on your willingness to jump in and help people in need!
    As for the guy with the walkie, i would argue he is doing something incredibly important. He is running IC (Incident command). He started with a scene sizeup and is radioing that in to incoming units. This is massively important to ensuring the proper resources are inbound and know what to expect. As for him not unkinking the hose, that hose will still get enough pressure for that little fire. If IC has his head down unkinking hose, he is not looking at big picture stuff, such as running the entire incident and ensuring the safety of everyone involved.

And im going to say it was all for the video. The views could have got him killed. He asks if theres propane like he even slightly understands how dangerous it could be if there was. He approached an unknown situation without any training on how to evaluate or handle it. That's the American way for firefighting. In a big house fire one of the tactics to put it out is to get a man on the roof with an axe to create a vent. Now I'm not a firefighter but I know that's dumb as shit. My dad is a UK firefighter and he says American and Canadian fire fighters get killed because of the way they put fires out, they just love a good axe. Like in this situation the axe isn't needed it doesn't need a vent it just needs a load of water. Also the way they drew hose was piss pour it had a shitload of kinks and wasn't efficient. But that's the standard of American firefighting unfortunately

    • @pandaman3367
      @pandaman3367 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Jens Nobel There is something different about the structure of American and European homes, we used to use fog nozzles like that, and the steam it created would help to put the fire out, but nowadays the structure is just different, different materials, etc. As for the doing nothing, for all we know there could have only been 3 guys on that truck and another engine was on the way, it should also be noted that the truck is a quint, meaning it has anywhere from 250 to 750 gallons of water.

    • @pandaman3367
      @pandaman3367 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Jens Nobel Yeah, Americans are a little more traditional with firefighting, as for the fog nozzles you can still see them in use in airports, and with more GPM (Liters Per Minute for the Europeans) you can see a ton of brush trucks going with low flow, high pressure, hell, that's how our horse drawn steamers worked! As for the buildings we have standpipe systems to supply water all throughout the building. Onto the navy firefighting, off the top of my head military fire crews do help civilian fire crews and vice versa, a prime example of this is the Honolulu Fire Department back in 1941 in Pearl Harbor, specifically Hickam airfield, the entire air base fire crew was obliterated by planes and the HFD was the only department on scene due to the utter chaos that was in Honolulu, the 3 trucks and their crews that were sent got their rear ends kicked but they got the fire out using small hoses.
      Overall you are absolutely right, different standards, different trucks, etc. And I must say I do boast much respect for the firefighters across the pond.

    I wanted to make this comment for future me and people who watched this lol.
    Three years ago, I saw this video when it first came out. As I watched, I thought to myself: “Man, that would be the coolest job. Responding to a fire like that and putting fires out.” I also thought: “I wished that was a profession.” (Not my brightest moment haha), but I then realized how amazing it would be to say I fought that fire and saved that house, or saved that person. Little would I know, that those thoughts would lead me to where I am now, I’m a volunteer firefighter in a small town, (which I can happily say I’ve fought a few fires) with goals to apply to a bigger city department one day. I don’t know who this biker is, but he likely will never know that he impacted someone so much, that it changed their whole life. To that I say thank you, this one video changed everything.

      Narcissistic much? The firemen haven't arrived yet and the owner and neighbor were the ones with the hoses. He just got the and took the whole credit. "Lady, that's not going to work at all" Then it does. "Wow, Im a hero! Look at me everybody. Thank God I casually have a camera on me to remind you of that, but in case is not enough...Im telling you every minute of this video"

      Ok but he didn’t say that and he was trying to help. She couldn’t understand and the homeowner was probably scared. So technically he did the most work then everyone just decided to up and leave and he sat there for so long doing practically every so calm down BOOMER

      I know and then puts it up on the fence instead of through the gate. Is looking for more help when they only need one hose and to fix the kinks in it. What a joke. He should have grabbed one of the other firefighters and told him he was in charge of fixing the kinks and making sure water pressure stayed high. At this point I'm really wondering if they are cosplaying as firefighters?

    • @mbarricelliwv
      @mbarricelliwv 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@whitedragon153 I don't know how this department is set up but the fire fighter who is on the nozzle has a red helmet that at least in my department and surrounding ones means they are an officer, the guy with the radio if he was with the department then yeah, everyone makes stupid mistakes like that, he could have also been either ems or police as they both have radios and can communicate, I wouldn't say they are cosplaying as the FF on the nozzle did everything fine except that one large kink and whoever was the dude who put the line on the fence. I would also assume that with as few guys they had that it is likely they are a volunteer department meaning inadequate training or just not thinking (tunnel vision) lead to a few small mistakes, it's not like they let the house burn down
