    If you're going out, this would be the way. I'm not from New Orleans, but this is the way it should be done, celebrating the life that was.

    It's so amazing to see people coming together in that time of grief to celebrate a man's life and the music that lives in everyone. I've only been to New Orleans a few times, but that didn't stop me from falling in love with it's people, it's music and it's traditions.

    Definitely an african thing. Funerals are also very lively in jamaica with music and drums and various ceremonies to make sure the spirit rests and doesn't come back as a 'dopi'. Lovely to see the african influence still alive especially in Louisiana

    • @ChaseNCSU
      @ChaseNCSU 9 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      +jj cc While it definitely is influenced by some African traditions, this isn't "Definitely an african thing". They weren't doing 2nd lines at African funerals before they started doing them in New Orleans. Saying 2nd lines are an African thing is like saying Jazz is in African thing. Sure, it heavily influenced it's genesis, but it is most definitely an American thing.
