I like how Eggman looks genuinely on edge. Based on how he usually monitors Sonic and his friends, he’d probably heard or seen what happened. He may or may not know that Sonic’s coming, but he’s scared nevertheless.

What I really like about this remake is how authentic it feels. It feels like an actual Sonic ROM hack or unknown cartridge that you can find somewhere. From the Music, the sound design and everything. Makes me pumped up for what Sonic PC Port has in store.
I've seen many versions of Sonic.exe but this one. Geez.. he just feels so much terrifying here, especially in Hide and Seek where you can see him get more and more happy the closer he gets to Tails. The spritework here is probably the best I've ever seen in a Sonic.exe game. I especially like what Tails, Knuckles and Eggman look like when they are killed in the Character Select menu. They look as terrifying as Sonic himself.

The thing is, People did a great job to most of these. But the original Sonic.Exe took its origins from a Pedophile and that is very awful. I am not talking about Crimson's game, I am talking about the original story. I don't like to admit It but the Sonic fandom can be really wierd and creepy.

What I have to give credit for is that the developers didn't just give Tails simple crying or sad looking sprites in the first stage like everybody who makes exe games does, like "Oh no, animals are dead, this is not making me happy but whatever, I'll just keep going" but instead, they made him actually look frightened, confused AND upset looking, like "Holy shit, what has happened here?! Who could have possibly murdered ALL of these poor animals?! Is he still here? Is he gonna get me next?! I've got to run!"
Not to mention that he actively tries to run away from Sonic.exe instead of slowly approachin him like usual is made even worse when Tails realizes the player has to force him closer to progress. He still tries to run, but he doesn't have full control over his body anymore, not even in his last moments durin the chase could his will overpower the player's controls, he's just forced to run to a goal he can't reach, an act with no end, a smile that's not his.
Honestly...this game is FAR better than any of the other sonic.exe "remakes" I've seen. It takes all the scariness of all the other good sonic.exe games and implements them into this one flawlessly. Gotta give Joe and the team credit cuz they really outdid themselves on this one.

I think the mini ARG is my favourite aspect of this. The images are eerie to look at, and the secrets hidden in them to locate the game is very neat too.

This is how you do an .exe game right. Ho-ly shit. This was horrifying, the spritework, the music, everything about it. Seeing the selection screen with all the chatacters brutally murdered, knowing there was nothing you could do, then you see the blood red eyes staring at you.. Sends shivers down my spine everytime. Props to the developers. 👏
The ending is so intimidating. When he goes from pixel art to a real drawing, it means he stepped out of the game and is literally in the computer itself
Exactly, it’s way more scarier than most of horror games nowadays. Also, a lot of Russians (expect me) don’t like this Sonic.EXE fan game, because “was needed when Sonic.EXE was hype”, but it will be always hype thematic.
Oh, man. This one remake is fantastic. The coolest thing is not only all of those details and overall quality, but how they maintain original story in every part and adds more originality and colors to the game, to breathe a new life to this already beaten story. Personally, I've been seeing many works and all of them tried to make something of their own, but this one is by far is the most impressive. Huge respect to the authors.
Sunfire's videos are, in my opinion, able to make things more terrifyin, or out right scary in the first place. She's there playin the game, but it's easy to forget in the heat of the moment and it really makes you feel alone. Luigikid feels like a friend just playin the game for ya. Both are great, both have ups and downs, and both there to put a smile on ya face.

This is by far the best Sonic.exe Remake I've ever seen! Hope to see a Sally.exe remake in the future. So what I'm trying to peace together is that This is Not Canon to Sonic Pc Port but rather its own little thing. Alan, Dave, and Paul go on to possess Tails, Knuckles, and Dr. Robotnik/Eggman (kinda like needlemouse in a way), Paul was erased from existence by X. Also that fact you don't see what happens to Tails, Knuckles, and Eggman is what makes this even more horrifying just picturing them getting ripped apart, eyes gauged out, jaws unhinged/ripped off, and screaming in pain is really scary.
If you didn't notice, at 5:15, Tails runs to the left himself. The player makes him walk to the right by force. It's something genuinely creepy. Alan knows it's not Sonic. He tries to run away but his fate is decided for the player's entertainment. It must be a TERRIBLE fate to be controlled to your death by a bigger force. You can see everything, have full awareness of everything but yet, you can't do anything. You're only able to watch yourself do stupid actions and feel pain. Another creepy thing is: if you do not hold the right button during the chase, Tails actually looks at you. Shocked and confused. It's unsettling to see the characters have awareness.
The images after Tails Knuckles and Eggman got me not gonna lie, I didn’t expect to see those at all. I also love how the characters are more expressive and show more emotion instead of looking slightly scared or just not show any emotion at all

Man, I gotta say that the 000000 level is absolutely great! Especially the music in it, it fills up the mystery and the feeling of getting lost in an unending place which only leads to your death.
As far as recreations of the pasta go, this is easily the best Sonic.exe game. It's the only one I've seen that has Hill go on for ages, uses custom art for Robotnik's stage, and includes a jumpscare after the I AM GOD screen. While still not very scary (there's a limit when you're working with the original pasta), this is definitely the best Sonic.exe game as far as just being a straight adaptation goes.
I think it’s interesting that Joe decided to give human souls to knuckles & Eggman, as originally Alan/Tails in PC Port was the only one to have an actual soul while the other ones were just the regular characters.

An extremely small detail i noticed is after robotnik dies and you see the select screen, you can actually watch a red dot travel to the center and stop behind knuckles' file
I gotta admit, at first I thought it was pretty lazy how when EXE starts writing "I AM GOD" in blood, it isn't animated at all. Just goes by like a powerpoint. MAN, THAT JUMPSCARE THOUGH, it didn't make me scream or anything, but it actually did get me to jump because I didn't expect that one. One of the few times i'd have to say a jumpscare was actually executed well. It's not overly loud to the point of blowing your eardrums, and it's just startling enough that it subverts your expectations and makes you fall for one of the oldest tricks in the horror book. Well done remake, blows the OG stuff from my old middle and high school years STRAIGHT out the goddamn water.
The sound of people grunting on pain was horrifying but when they pixelated it get even worse Jeez, these type of audio will stuck in my head for a while
I really wish I could listen to the OST right now, but as far as I can tell there's no official uploads yet. I'd prefer listening to the actual official uploads than someone uploading music that they didn't make. Regardless, this official game is so cool to rewatch. Just the details and everything... It's topnotch. (EDIT: Oops, I take back what I said about no official uploads. There is one! Well, two, technically. Just playlists made by the creators of the songs that they made.)
the time limit ending on the dr eggman level is just unsettling. when the time limit runs out he just falls down all those stairs and he cant escape. really scary
I’m still not a fan of how plain and “visual-novel-y” these games tend to be, and I feel that gray shoes are more of a Lord X thing, but I gotta hand it to the creator here for making this as polished as can be. The physics seem a lot more on par with a real Sonic game, and the sound design is great. The names changing once EXE reveals himself, him having a real laugh instead of borrowing Kefka’s, and I admit the ending is creative too.
What I mean is, Sonic.EXE games always barely qualify as actual games. It’s pretty much “hold right, see bloody animals and metal parts, get spooked, watch a character die, lather rinse repeat.” There’s barely any interaction aside from the bare minimum. At least with the PC Port, SOME skill and platforming is required. It’s nothing against people who actually love this stuff, I just feel like without much variety in gameplay, these things are painfully predictable.

Tails/Alan: Gets their leg broken, and their neck snapped. Knuckles/Dave: Gets his face kicked, and his chest broken open. Robotnik/Paul: Gets erased from existence entirely via black hole to the soul. Flight, fight, and freeze.
The sprite work, the facial expressions, the more graphic sounding death sounds, to EXE spelling 'I am god' IN BLOOD on the screen, this is a huge step up
While fnf did kind of bring it to more mainstream, all it did was mainly tarnished it's reputation and the horror of what felt like something personal to you. Now there's stuff like, gay Sonic.exe and I wonder if X is a better ruler as god cuz' the old one left for a pretty good reason.
A small attention to detail. There is a "droning" noise that plays from the intro to the point when he starts the game. A bit haunting aswell. It's almost like knowing something bad is about to happen.
I love how telling it is that I get excited about detailed Sonic.exe stuff when instead of being fully unnerved I'm just sitting here like "ooooh that's cool". Like the "I am God" being written in blood and the jumpscare right after?? I was grinning ear to ear about it, I love this so much
This, and the OG Sonic.exe feels like an actual creepypasta game that comes from a story and not some super duper high quality version. (This is still high quality btw) Amazing

I came to see Sonic.EXE as a bit of a joke in recent years, but this remake shows that, when done correctly, he _can_ be horrifying. I feel like the only thing really missing from this is if during the “I AM GOD” part, him drawing the message was fully animated. That, and maybe before he does it, he does a mocking little finger wiggle.

A small critique from a fan/ fellow writer; i’d be great to see a “good ending” using “clues” and “fourth wall break communication “ between the player and the other characters. My only complaint is that it’s a bit too similar to the original, in that most of it is a walking simulator. But besides that, everything else is really good, I love the twist on the I AM GOD scene. Edit: So I found that 2011 X is canonically just bad at making games. So that explains it.
This game legit made the original Sonic. Exe a fucking Tea Party, kudos to the team that made it scarier, watching this gave me nam flashbacks of the original EXE.
One of the think I really like I how they manage too keep a balance with staying fateful to the original work, while adding new gameplay or atmosphere elements, with out losing the original appeal.
I'm surprised i'd barely, if ever, seen that slight extension on the final sting of the drowning jingle for dramatic effect in any of the other "extended universe" fangames, for lack of a better term, before this official remake of the original. I'm curious what they were going for with Knuckles' portrait. It doesn't look like a recently-expired corpse, more like he's trying to do his best King K. Rool impression.

This one was really well made and Tails and Knuckles being brutally murdered with a black screen really brings it out instead of just a repeating scream and the Kefka laugh. Well done Joe!

The coolest thing is not only all of those details and overall quality, but how they maintain original story in every part and adds more originality and colors to the game, to breathe a new life to this already beaten story.
Personally, I've been seeing many works and all of them tried to make something of their own, but this one is by far is the most impressive.

Sunfire's videos are, in my opinion, able to make things more terrifyin, or out right scary in the first place. She's there playin the game, but it's easy to forget in the heat of the moment and it really makes you feel alone.
Luigikid feels like a friend just playin the game for ya.
Both are great, both have ups and downs, and both there to put a smile on ya face.

This is by far the best Sonic.exe Remake I've ever seen! Hope to see a Sally.exe remake in the future. So what I'm trying to peace together is that This is Not Canon to Sonic Pc Port but rather its own little thing. Alan, Dave, and Paul go on to possess Tails, Knuckles, and Dr. Robotnik/Eggman (kinda like needlemouse in a way), Paul was erased from existence by X. Also that fact you don't see what happens to Tails, Knuckles, and Eggman is what makes this even more horrifying just picturing them getting ripped apart, eyes gauged out, jaws unhinged/ripped off, and screaming in pain is really scary.

If you didn't notice, at 5:15, Tails runs to the left himself. The player makes him walk to the right by force. It's something genuinely creepy. Alan knows it's not Sonic. He tries to run away but his fate is decided for the player's entertainment. It must be a TERRIBLE fate to be controlled to your death by a bigger force. You can see everything, have full awareness of everything but yet, you can't do anything. You're only able to watch yourself do stupid actions and feel pain.
Another creepy thing is: if you do not hold the right button during the chase, Tails actually looks at you. Shocked and confused. It's unsettling to see the characters have awareness.
The images after Tails Knuckles and Eggman got me not gonna lie, I didn’t expect to see those at all. I also love how the characters are more expressive and show more emotion instead of looking slightly scared or just not show any emotion at all

Wow this may be the only actually unsettling Sonic.EXE game I've ever seen. Like those drawings of Tails, Knuckles and Robotnik are honestly brutal. Props to whoever drew them
okay but that music that played during the Found You sequence was kinda fire
Man, I gotta say that the 000000 level is absolutely great! Especially the music in it, it fills up the mystery and the feeling of getting lost in an unending place which only leads to your death.
As far as recreations of the pasta go, this is easily the best Sonic.exe game. It's the only one I've seen that has Hill go on for ages, uses custom art for Robotnik's stage, and includes a jumpscare after the I AM GOD screen. While still not very scary (there's a limit when you're working with the original pasta), this is definitely the best Sonic.exe game as far as just being a straight adaptation goes.
I think it’s interesting that Joe decided to give human souls to knuckles & Eggman, as originally Alan/Tails in PC Port was the only one to have an actual soul while the other ones were just the regular characters.
Actually, little known fact, EVERYTHING in X’s world, or at least every Sonic character, has a soul trapped inside it.

An extremely small detail i noticed is after robotnik dies and you see the select screen, you can actually watch a red dot travel to the center and stop behind knuckles' file

I gotta admit, at first I thought it was pretty lazy how when EXE starts writing "I AM GOD" in blood, it isn't animated at all. Just goes by like a powerpoint. MAN, THAT JUMPSCARE THOUGH, it didn't make me scream or anything, but it actually did get me to jump because I didn't expect that one. One of the few times i'd have to say a jumpscare was actually executed well. It's not overly loud to the point of blowing your eardrums, and it's just startling enough that it subverts your expectations and makes you fall for one of the oldest tricks in the horror book. Well done remake, blows the OG stuff from my old middle and high school years STRAIGHT out the goddamn water.

This game is probably what the OG Sonic Exe game creator thought the game would turn out or how we first saw the game as kids.
I really wish I could listen to the OST right now, but as far as I can tell there's no official uploads yet. I'd prefer listening to the actual official uploads than someone uploading music that they didn't make. Regardless, this official game is so cool to rewatch. Just the details and everything... It's topnotch. (EDIT: Oops, I take back what I said about no official uploads. There is one! Well, two, technically. Just playlists made by the creators of the songs that they made.)

the time limit ending on the dr eggman level is just unsettling. when the time limit runs out he just falls down all those stairs and he cant escape. really scary
I’m still not a fan of how plain and “visual-novel-y” these games tend to be, and I feel that gray shoes are more of a Lord X thing, but I gotta hand it to the creator here for making this as polished as can be. The physics seem a lot more on par with a real Sonic game, and the sound design is great. The names changing once EXE reveals himself, him having a real laugh instead of borrowing Kefka’s, and I admit the ending is creative too.
I can only say that one of the major reason Tails didn't get close to Sonic when he saw him were the shoes.

What I mean is, Sonic.EXE games always barely qualify as actual games. It’s pretty much “hold right, see bloody animals and metal parts, get spooked, watch a character die, lather rinse repeat.” There’s barely any interaction aside from the bare minimum. At least with the PC Port, SOME skill and platforming is required.
It’s nothing against people who actually love this stuff, I just feel like without much variety in gameplay, these things are painfully predictable.

bro this is remake is actually terrifying, the illustrations are terrifying and look brutal, It’s so amazing and extravagant but utterly horrifying and intriguing to look at, AMAZING job to Joe and the illustrations of whoever made them! I love it!

A small attention to detail. There is a "droning" noise that plays from the intro to the point when he starts the game.

I came to see Sonic.EXE as a bit of a joke in recent years, but this remake shows that, when done correctly, he _can_ be horrifying. I feel like the only thing really missing from this is if during the “I AM GOD” part, him drawing the message was fully animated. That, and maybe before he does it, he does a mocking little finger wiggle.

My only complaint is that it’s a bit too similar to the original, in that most of it is a walking simulator. But besides that, everything else is really good, I love the twist on the I AM GOD scene.
