Who else wants a cooking video with Uyen? As a European I'm quite curious how you prepare your Vietnamese meals when you only have opportunity to do the shopping in German stores. I (and probably some of us) would gladly learn from you!
There are quite a few good Asian stores in the bigger cities that carry the real deal. So if you're willing to look around a bit you can get quite a few ingredients here in Germany as well. What I do have to concede, getting ripe fresh fruit from Asia here is either impossible or hellishly expensive as well as very environmentally unfriendly as they have to be flown here. Getting a good ripe mango, lichis, or mangosteen is almost impossible here. Yeah, I'm sad as well as I had the pleasure of experiencing the difference in Sri Lanka.
as a Thai currently living abroad, I understand the struggle of recreating a Thai recipe 😂 although asian seasonings are readily available anywhere now and you can substitute some things, I think what really makes the dishes are the herbs. so happy to be able to share my culture through the joy of eating! I'm a sole believer that there are no fixed recipe for a dish since every household has their own twist, so I hope you continue to enjoy eating and cooking Thai food😊🙏❤p.s. cashew chicken sauce is actually very simple(oyster sauce, soy, sugar, sesame oil), it's the frying every other ingredients that makes it a challenging dish😂
So glad you love our food! Octopus hack: most shops offer both sweet and spicy sauces and you can ask the seller to mix them. I usually do half-and-half so the sauce won't burn my tongue! Lots of love from yr Thai fan ❤
I'm so appreciated your love for our food. You make me realized how long I have ignored the food court and visited foreign restaurants more often than when I was a kid. Thank you, Uyen!
As a Thais who follows your channel. I want to say thank you to enjoy our food. BTW Thai people also enjoy Vietnam food too. We love every others country’s food that is yummy. ❤🎉
I know a married couple, she is Thai and he is German, they both live together here in Germany for years and visit her family in Thailand twice per year and they realy love each other. She still has big problems feeling really comfortable in Germany, not only but mainly because of the climate, the food and the groceries, and then finding some that she really likes, although she has already worked for Toyota in Japan and a few other parts of the world and therefore has experience with food that is unfamiliar to her. Of course, she often tries to cook original Thai food, but she isn't really happy with that either because not everything tastes the way she prefers and knows it. Ok, only a few people around her think that she has completely other problems deep inside herself and just can't or doesn't want to deal with them, but that doesn't have to be true.
Awww thank you very much! 🥰 As a Thai (and of course your fan!) I am glad you like it. This is the highest level of compliment especially from Vietnamese! I visited my Vietnamese friend in Hanoi last year. The food there was super delicious!! I enjoyed everything. But what captured my heart is the Chân gà chiên mắm. Best chicken fried feet in the world. ❤
Thanks that you like our food. The glass noodles salad is called "Yum Wun Sen". It's my favorite food that I ate in Thailand almost every day. I now live in Germany and miss that food very much.
Japanese born American here. I LOVE Thai food!! I tried but always failed cooking it at home. Just like Vietnamese food. I support the local business by going out. 😊 So glad to find you!! More I watch, I feel like I’m watching happy myself!! You make me 😊 smile, girl!
Most of Asean cuisine made from fresh ingridient like plucking leaf from the tree so when come to oversea cooking that depend on frozen or dry ingridient that never same as cooking in Thailand 😅
I live in Malaysia so we experience an insane melting pot of cuisine. Out of all the SEA centric spicy food that I've tried (Indian, Filipino, Malaysian, Chinese, Vietnamese, etc)... none beats Thai. But the great thing is, even though it can be insanely spicy, it also tastes SO good (also you can always tweak the spice levels to your liking). When I was in college, I ate tom yam almost every day and it eventually trained me to be impervious to other spicy food. My favourite combo is red seafood tom yam, mango salad and pandan chicken. Sometimes switching it up with either pad thai or shrimp cakes. Have it with an iced thai milk tea, and then cendol for desert to top the whole thing off. PERFECT meal! Just *chef's kiss*
noting to myself to survive off of tom yam in order to develop spice immunity xD I'm from UK so my spice tolerance is horrendous but I am stubborn and want to eat spicy
One of the first things I did in Thailand is look for cooking courses, Found a place that did lessons for 1000 baht per lesson or 5 lessons for 4000 baht. each lesson is either a full morning class or afternoon class. Each lesson you can pick 4 meals to learn and they provide the ingredients and teach you, including making the curry pastes. You can eat the meals there or takeaway to share with friends. I still cook some of those now, especially green curry and pappaya salad ( I swap the pappaya for cougette because Pappaya is rough on the stomach) and mango with sticky rice.
I've only visited Thailand a few times but every time I was blown away by the food. I found a super good somtam at the Hatyai floating market. When I was in Bangkok, I went to Chatuchak and had the same squid/octopus with green chilli dish as you. It was so good!
Glass noodle salad is one of a type of dish called “yum”. You can put anything in yum, my fav is instant noodle. Im thai and i learned from my aunt that the secret in the yum sauce is the brine juice from pickled garlic and a bit of stock from ground pork when you cook it. These two will make the sauce umami and combine everything nicely, otherwise fish sauce, sugar, and lemon juice dont come together and too tangy

I'm living in Thailand now so I eat Thai food every day. I was recently asked if I missed British food and quite honestly there isn't much I pine for, although I wouldn't mind bacon or ham being available I don't crave it! I have to agree whole heartedly with you regarding the mango and sticky rice.
if you love Thai seafood sauce it 's super easy to make by yourself when you miss it -- fish sauce + lime or lemon + crushed garlic +chili + coriander root and leaf - balanced the taste like this sour > sweet > salty ; easy to obsessed with every kind of food lol

So glad to know that you like Thai food. There is a food court (Magic Food Court) in Suvarnabhumi Airport in the 1st Floor, near Public Taxi parking point. There are many kinds of Thai food in that food court, the taste is good and not expensive.
As a home chef myself in Thailand, I really like Thai food. Some of them are hard to prepare due to the complexity of the ingredients, but some are just easy and tasty. In Thailand, there are thousands kinds of foods from the north, the south, the central, and the northeast. Personally, I like Kaosoi, Sai-our, Kanom giin Nam ngiv from the north; Kourkling and Kaw Yam from the south; red curry, green curry, Tom Yum, Tom Kar chicken, Masaman, Krapraw beef with rice from the central part of Thailand; larb, Papaya salad, grilled chicken from the northeast. I suggest you come to Thailand and learn Thai cooking dishes to make it right from the start. One day course is possible for 5 dishes. I also have studied at a culinary school for a year but I cannot make the whole thing.
The sweet chili chicken at the chatuchak market was everything. I also wanted to move to Bangkok for food, massage, & shopping! I bought the jasmine essential oil that was burning in every massage place - the smell of Thailand for me!! Heaven. Even the Bangkok airport was fun and beautiful

As your Thai follower, I’m glad you like Thailand. And lemme tell you, as a Thai person, I can’t handle Thai food’s spiciness either🤣 I recommended ppl visiting us in either Summer or winter, bc rn it’s raining everyday, and Bangkok is always flooding when rainy season comes.
As An American Thai food holds a special place in my heart. It's incredible. The smells, textures, tastes, and aroma just makes every dish so fantastic and amazing. When you eat Good Thai good it goes HARD

The most endearing thing about you is that you are really respectful to all the countries and culture you have been to! Can you suggest some vegetarian dishes as well? I am from India, so my spice level is moderate😄 Lots of love and regards to you!
Sadly there is fish sauce in almost every our dish except for dessert. Good thing is there are some selling Thai vegan dishes by replacing original recipe with something else but taste almost the same. You just do a little more research to find a place. If you come to Bangkok I recommend “Sutunthip Vegan”. You can google it.
@@donttouchme9063 I hope this is not a pun! 😄 In India you can find hundreds of vegetarian dishes! In metropolitian cities you can find vegetarian dishes from all over India.
@@donttouchme9063 India is a heaven for vegetarians! There are so many vegetarian dishes from different parts of India that it will be an injustice to name just few! :) I welcome you to India to experience it!
I'm fairly new to your channel and I live in Vietnam Uyen! So much fun to watch you share your life and culture with the world. I just spent a weekend in Thailand in July and my favourites were definitely the Tom Yum soup and the Mango and sticky rice pudding as well! Their mangoes are legendary!
Just curious if you've ever had the Vietnamese grilled bananas wrapped in sticky rice and banana leaves and doused in coconut sauce? It won a dessert award a few years back in some competition.
That's so cool! I'm German and I spent a week in Vietnam and a few days in Cambodia. Vietnam is such a beautiful country with amazing food and such an interesting culture!!! I loved it so much and I really miss it. I'm definitely going to come back one day!
You chose pretty well. We eat those grilled tilapia at least once a week and my wife is addicted to the glass noodle salad. I like the sticky rice with jackfruit while she prefers durian. The hardest part of tom yum is getting the kefir lime leaves and the fresh chilis. It just isn't right without them. The lime trees grow pretty well indoors and smell great. Glad you liked the trip, visit Chiang Mai some time. The food is different up here.
Tears flowed and I was grateful for my life where I could eat delicious Thai food every day. Because even you haven't tried it yet. It is like a treasure trove of priceless treasures. I pity every person in the world who will not be able to taste those things. I am so grateful for this life.
the thing that make mango sticky rice so good in Thailand although it's such a simple food is the mango tbh. mango in Europe doesn't taste like that😭 I live in the UK and so hard to find good tropical fruit that taste good here.
I hope you will travel to other parts of Thailand in the future. There is still much more to be discovered in Thailand; variety of regional foods. The north eastern part, also known as "Isaan" where my mother is from, is well known for its spicy, zesty food such as papaya salads.
I totally agree, the north-eastern- thai cuisine is totally worth a try and completely different than the "commonly known" thai foods. In the beginning it might be a bit strange to taste a few more bitter aroma there, compared to the other thai foods, but it's absolutely delicious. They got some bamboo and mushrom dishes to die for 🤤
Ohhh... Such high praises from a fellow SEA. We happily accept them. 🙏 🙏 🙏 I have noticed the glass noodle salad in your shorts before. 😂 Yum anything is the best.
I love Thai food too. I was lucky enough to have authentic Thai food made by a friend of mine. The best Thai dish I have had is a clear shrimp soup with vegetables that is spiced with tiny HOT chilis. I recommend it and I am not that into extremely spicy food. It took me a long time to finish it. :) The Thai people are very friendly. The Mongols settled in Thailand. Uyen, you should try Italian octopus salad. It is not spicy but it is very fresh with big chunks of octopus. Your fiance could eat it with no problem. Italian bread and pastries are better than what the French make. I grew up in the Port of Los Angeles, California with Yugoslavian, Hispanic, and Italian bakeries and restaurants. We even had a Scandinavian grocery store!
7:11 theres a dishes called “Miang pla pao” which is a fish grilled like that in your video but we eat with a lot of vegetables and spicy seafood sauce. Its a little spicy (for me at least lol 😂). I think you might like it. Thank you for visiting our country ❤.
6:02 it's also one of the dish Thai woman love the most as well, their can eat it every single day just like Som Tam 😂 not just because it taste bloody delicious but also very low calories and almost 0 bad fat, it's tastiest diet dish in Thailand.

She’s now a food travel influencer 😂❤❤
Thank you for your kind words about our country. I’m your Thai fan ❤
As An American Thai food holds a special place in my heart. It's incredible. The smells, textures, tastes, and aroma just makes every dish so fantastic and amazing. When you eat Good Thai good it goes HARD
I am so happy that you finally visited Thailand. As Thai, I recommend you try Crispy Prawn in Tamarind Glaze. SO GOOOD💘
I do agree that Thai food is one of the best!!! Basil pork rice with a sunny side up ❤
i felt so related to this video because my aunt live in germany and she tried making thai food and i live in thailand my aunt LOVE thai food so whenever she come to thailand she would go balistic over the food because its so yummy
This video was amazing!! 💜 You should make a video of you trying to cook Thai foods :))
Agreed. This would be amazing 😁👍.
That would be amazing seeing her do that. I love seeing her cook 😋💕
I would be getting massages constantly as well 😅
You are truly such a wonderful soul, I'm so happy to watch you!! Thank you for making great content for us ❤
Yaaay you look so radiant and beautiful in this vlog 🫶🏼✨
The most endearing thing about you is that you are really respectful to all the countries and culture you have been to! Can you suggest some vegetarian dishes as well? I am from India, so my spice level is moderate😄
Lots of love and regards to you!
Could you recommend any specific Indian vegetarian dishes? 😊 🙌
@@donttouchme9063 I hope this is not a pun! 😄 In India you can find hundreds of vegetarian dishes! In metropolitian cities you can find vegetarian dishes from all over India.
@@shikhapandey242 I’m not joking, just wondering about vegetarian dishes around the world 😌
@@donttouchme9063 India is a heaven for vegetarians! There are so many vegetarian dishes from different parts of India that it will be an injustice to name just few! :)
I welcome you to India to experience it!
You're making me crave foods I've never even tried before!
Tears flowed and I was grateful for my life where I could eat delicious Thai food every day. Because even you haven't tried it yet. It is like a treasure trove of priceless treasures. I pity every person in the world who will not be able to taste those things. I am so grateful for this life.
Omggggggg, I'm Thai and I'm your big fan!!! So happy to hear that you like our food🥳
I suggest to try grill fish with seafood sauce 🤤🤤🤤(spicy but worth try)
Highly recommend
the thing that make mango sticky rice so good in Thailand although it's such a simple food is the mango tbh. mango in Europe doesn't taste like that😭 I live in the UK and so hard to find good tropical fruit that taste good here.
and also coconut milk, canned one always have distinct smells that you can tell it was canned. fresh coconut milk is the best I can't say it enough
Welcome to Thailand anytime! Love ya, Uyen!
I’m Thai and I’m happy you love our food. Please come to Thailand again if you have a chance and time.❤
She literally ate everything yummy that I love to eat 🥺💕
omg I love your travel vlog uyen 😭 please do more
Love your video from Thailand ❤
You need a show on the travel channel! I would love to watch you and the mystery boyfriend travel the world trying the food!
I'm Thai and I love your channel 💕✨
I feel you about the grilled octopus and the spicy sauce! i love it so much too! and their traditional fried battered bananas OMG 🤤
1:43 so real😭😭😭 as a person with not so high spice tolerance myself. less spicy for them = very spicy for me. But it’s so good I can’t stop eating
They got some bamboo and mushrom dishes to die for 🤤
As a Thai, I will forever support you ❤
There's a secret ingredient for glass noodle salad which is the pickle garlic juice. It adds umami flavor and puts everything together.
Ohhh... Such high praises from a fellow SEA. We happily accept them. 🙏 🙏 🙏
I have noticed the glass noodle salad in your shorts before.
I agree, Thailand has the best food and especially the best coconut ice cream. I love everything there. And surely the best is sticky rice with mango.
7:11 theres a dishes called “Miang pla pao” which is a fish grilled like that in your video but we eat with a lot of vegetables and spicy seafood sauce. Its a little spicy (for me at least lol 😂). I think you might like it. Thank you for visiting our country ❤.
a big fan of you from Cambodia
our girl didn't disappoint us at all! she knows how to eat every dish!
As a Thai person the fact that she is talking about the stuff that is normal to me is crazy and I am so happy she appreciates us
6:02 it's also one of the dish Thai woman love the most as well, their can eat it every single day just like Som Tam 😂 not just because it taste bloody delicious but also very low calories and almost 0 bad fat, it's tastiest diet dish in Thailand.
I have to say, listening to Uyen after a hard work day, is the perfect remedy
Haha, Uyen eating coconut ice cream and commenting „not bad“ is such a German way of complimenting😂 „Hatte schon besseres, aber das hier ist auch ganz ok“👌
Im curently sick and cant chew ore eat much... somehow watching you eat and be happy really calms me😊
You're the first vlogger whom I can relate because I be looking messy as you when I'm on trip not all perfect 24/7 like other vloggers 😂
Hello from thailand !!! Thx for the compliment 😭 My family actually ate monthly vietnam cuisine too and I had a lot of vietnamese friends from kpop commu ,unfortunately they says a some of stuffs are not authentic so I must visit vietnam someday 🥺 love your contents thank you for visiting.
I agree. Thai food is tasty lol have fun!
I love the stops for multiple massages, super cool video!🤣
I couldn't stop laughing when Uyen described how she used to fly to Thailand, get a hotel room and then just eat octopus every day lol
It is just so Uyen!
Thailand Number one
Can totally relate to that 😂
The sea food there is on another level 🤤
Makes me happy to see you happy ❤
Thailand has one of the world's best cuisines. Can't wait for my first vacation there!
Yesss tom yum is the absolute best!!
