Your vintage reproduced bathroom is more tasteful than a bunch of the untouched vintage restrooms I’ve seen and I’m glad it isn’t pink for once.

Our Victorian home has the same type of old toilet. When we remodeled, I thought of changing it out. My dad was like "that's a REAL toilet! They don't make them like that anymore. I'm not replacing it!" To which I now agree.
    Great video BTW.

Seeing all that paint spattered over your hours and hours of labor warranted a good crying session, but you just cleaned it up promptly. The results are both authentically vintage and beautiful!

We bought one of those snap cutters at Lowes and used it until the cutter got dull. A new replacement cutter cost about the same price (around $20) as a whole new unit. So we donated the old one and went back to Lowes. I happened to mention we could buy a whole new tool for about the same price as a replacement cutter. He says they always have a spare cutter inside the handle. Dang I wish we had known that!

Love, love, love the bathroom, from top to bottom. My absolute favourite, if I had to choose, is the floor as I have always loved small hexagonal tiles, but really, I love everything you did. My favourite era is Art Deco and this makeover just screams of the period. Can’t wait to see what you work on next. By the way, I am so glad you weren’t hurt, Laine. The outcome of your fall could have been really bad. Until next time, take care and stay safe and well. With best wishes from Down Under 😘💕🇦🇺

This video about the bath make-over brought back so many memories to me. I was on a ladder painting my bath, and fell off the last two ladder steps! Broke my knee, spilled the paint, and cried! I can laugh now because you two lovebirds make life's little mistakes seem like a walk in the park! God bless both of you for your positive attitudes, and work ethics! I hope that this inspires other people as well! Great job! Love the colors!

Oh my goodness you’ve brought back wonderful memories here . I was a very young single mum . Painting my first little cottage getting it all pretty with secondhand furniture and auction finds from family. It was the 80’s and when I say there was a type of mushroom pink shade that was all 80’s you’ll know it I’m sure . I was using an old outdoor table as a trestle to reach the tops of walls ( very safety - not) . A friend popped in to see how it was going and bring me some of her cake she’d made for a chat and cuppa . She walks in I go to step off said table table tips and in perfect slow motion the paint can arched up spilling up the wall the couch the pictures on the wall and sloshes down over her head to land upright on the coffee table . There she is paint dripping from her glasses onto the cake . We looked at each other and howled with laughter , the baby woke and howled too . To this day we cannot talk about it without tears of laughter . 31 years later . Perfect arc couldn’t have choreographed it for a movie

Wow! I am so impressed that you could make such a beautiful bathroom for only $500. Love every thing about it, the curtain, how you solved the paint color problem, keeping the original fixtures, even the cabinet contents. I’m thinking you should capture a picture of the paint splatter to frame to remind you of turning “lemons into lemonade” successfully. So thankful you did not get hurt, though I’m sure you were sore. Maybe try a stool or chair to fit into the tub next time. Never thought of inserting individual tile pieces to create the floor pattern. Where did you get the tile from? Love your can-do attitude and thanks for sharing your journey!

Maybe when working around a bathtub, you could install a cleat around the top of the tub, lay a piece of plywood on top of the cleats to make a platform (maybe with legs supporting the non-wall bathtub edge). If access to the faucet for water was needed, the plywood could be cut short to accommodate a gap for water. You'd have an easy, temporary platform to work on. It would also allow you to place a step ladder on it for painting the walls and ceiling over the tub and/or if there was a light fixture over the tub and be used to set things down, off the floor. The platform could be removed when you were tiling the easily reached areas by removing the platform. The plywood could be attached to the cleat with one or two screws to make it easily removed and later reattached, if needed. Just an idea for future projects.

We raised our kids in an old farmhouse we'd fixed up out in the country, that was a bit Victorian. At the time I exposed the shiplap underneath torn wallpaper, refused to paint that dark woodwork, and filled it with old pieces, antiques and my grandmothers things I got so many strange looks and comments. I never cared what other people thought, I liked it.
Now people are crazy for shiplap, subway tile, and old things. I have to laugh. I'm kinda tired of the subway tile, lol.

Ooh, the lavender fixtures sound so pretty with the white walls. I’d say she loved it too because she might have had to special order the fixtures? My Auntie Vera, may she be resting in peace, had a white bathroom with pale green fixtures. I loved the colour! She worked in a commercial laundry and raised two children on her own. She met my uncle and they eventually married. She’s a source of inspiration for me. Have a lovely day.

Amazing reno. I love the way you embraced the color and tiled up to the ceiling - lovely! The use of the tablecloth is perfect. I'd say this vintage makeover is a WIN! great job guys. Beautiful.

Thank you for showing what can be done to remodel a vintage bathroom and keeping the green color. I hate it when people come into a home and completely destroy the beauty of vintage furnishings. Thanks

Beautiful work. I am so sorry you had your mishap and happy that you were not hurt badly. One good thing about the non-matching paint and tiles is you could see easily what needed cleaned up.

Oh my gosh the paint splatter! I’ve actually had that happen to me. Only it was DARK RED paint on an ALL WHITE couch. I had to buy a couch cover. The bathroom looks AMAZING!!!!!! It’s so beautiful!!!!! Great job guys!

You could have left it as is and said you paid ten thousand bucks for that couch. An art piece done by a famous designer! 😁

Came back go to this video to look at a particular thing, but had to watch "the accident" thing again. Laine, you were SO fortunate that you didn't break something or hit your head. 🤦‍♀Oh my! Such a great reminder to us all, NOT to point aspersions at anyone, to watch out for those clear things we leave on the floor....esp in a room where there is NOTHING soft except the toilet paper.

THANK YOU for taking the mystery and intimidation out of cutting tile! It works just like cutting glass for stained glass!🍺
And I love your attitudes about the fall. It sounds like you were very lucky not to break a bone. Settling in, laughing, and fixing it together instead of b!tching, griping, and fighting is definitely the optimal solution. 🍺🍺

Good Lord, Laine... I LOVE IT when you get all wound up, describing something! You're like a 33 1/3rpm record played on 78!! Honey, you talk faster than an air traffic controller working the Downey sector at Los Angeles TRACON (Terminal Radar Approach CONtrol), during an arrival rush in bad weather.
