U can always check ur ticket. Her ticket had the bar code at the bottom for her actual ticket. (in this case towards the middle) The winning numbers that she saw was for the next ticket. U dont need the full ticket to see if u won.

Unfortunately the machines do sometimes cut the tickets wrong, I have seen it happen before, at best I would say she can probably get the money she paid for the ticket back and be an angry customer, but I agree it’s not her fault, the store she bought it from needs to make sure the tickets are printing out correctly

I see what happened.....U can see the regular ticket is shorter than the one she bought. When it is scanned it will say no winner because the perforated line doesn't belong to the top portion. It isn't a misprint......It is a cutting error from the machine.

In fact, there is no reason to believe that any tickets from the roll that hers came from won $20,000 and the lottery commission could verify if that is the case. If the roll contained no winners of $20,000 then no one was cheated - but the commission should refund any tickets brought forth that contain the same error. You must allow for them to reimburse you for their mistake before any legal action can be given serious thought... this is just another story of self-entitlement due to emotional distress. However, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to notice that that is not a winning ticket based on how the ticket looks and the other piece of another ticket sticking out from the bottom. I guarantee that when they scanned the unique serial number at the bottom of the ticket, it came out as a non winning ticket. She just wants easy money.
That's not the lottery's fault it's the fault of the store that put the tickets inside the machine and didn't line it up right to make the perfect cut. This is why all tickets now have those bar scans so they can tell if it's a claimer or not.

yea and guess what? every scratch off has a barcode so when u are finished u can double check it. When she checks the barcode the machine will say BIG FAT LOSER. Her barcode will not say 20,000 because the Winning numbers is for the next ticket in sequence.
I am sorry but I disagree with this it is a clear misprint on this ticket the numbers were for the next ticket not for the ticket she scratched off. What fool thinks the winning numbers are on the bottom of the ticket especially when you can see the line where you cut the ticket off of the roll before the numbers you scratch off. It is plainly seen that those numbers were for the ticket after her ticket and the winning numbers for her ticket wasn't going to be a 16.

When they investigated this, they discovered she has attempted stuff like this in her past. For example she admitted to taping winning numbers from one ticket to another in an attempt to pass it as a $52 winner. Clearly she is a con artist who likely tore it herself.
David hunter no your misinterpreting the way it was cut...... the 11 and 16 at the bottom are her winning numbers.... meaning if any of her numbers match the 11 or 16, it means she is a winner..... which clearly she has a 16 smack dab in the middle of the ticket.... the error occurred with the placement of the 2 winning numbers (the 11 and the 16) .... on her ticket, they are on the bottoms, but in a normal ticket they are at the top. What happened was the matching or store ripped off the ticket, inadvertently ripping off her winning numbers that were at the top (they are missing at the top) and so, this woman only had the 2 winning numbers at the bottom to compare too...... this was totally the machines fault here. Essentially, she doesn’t have any winning numbers to scratch, as hers were ripped off with the previous ticket.... basically, the machine was registering the winning numbers to be on the bottom, instead of the top...... so everyone who bought a ticket from this specific roll had this same thing happen..... they were given winning numbers that belonged to the next ticket.
This is why you purchase your ticket at a convenience store. Where an actual person will hand you the card. Surprise she didn’t realize the numbers weren’t on the top of the card. She should have common sense to realize, the winning numbers never appear on the very bottom of a scratch-off card. Only way to figure out if you won anything is the serial number you scratch off. If I got a scratch ticket from a machine like that looked like her’s. Immediately reporting to the employee, how their scratch ticket machine is not cutting on the perforated lines (separating each ticket equally). Bet the person who purchased a card before he, might have thought they won money on the scratch off. Same goes for the person, who bought after her.

Correct, at the most she should get her money back for the cost of the ticket since it was invalid to begin with, but she did not win - hence she shouldn't be able to collect the $20,000. In fact, there is no reason to believe that any tickets from the roll that hers came from won $20,000 and the lottery commission could verify if that is the case. If the roll contained no winners of $20,000 then no one was cheated - but the commission should refund any tickets brought forth that contain the same error. You must allow for them to reimburse you for their mistake before any legal action can be given serious thought... this is just another story of self-entitlement due to emotional distress. E.g. just because someone feels cheated doesn't mean they were.

What happened was the matching or store ripped off the ticket, inadvertently ripping off her winning numbers that were at the top (they are missing at the top) and so, this woman only had the 2 winning numbers at the bottom to compare too...... this was totally the machines fault here. Essentially, she doesn’t have any winning numbers to scratch, as hers were ripped off with the previous ticket.... basically, the machine was registering the winning numbers to be on the bottom, instead of the top...... so everyone who bought a ticket from this specific roll had this same thing happen..... they were given winning numbers that belonged to the next ticket.

Surprise she didn’t realize the numbers weren’t on the top of the card. She should have common sense to realize, the winning numbers never appear on the very bottom of a scratch-off card.
Only way to figure out if you won anything is the serial number you scratch off.
If I got a scratch ticket from a machine like that looked like her’s. Immediately reporting to the employee, how their scratch ticket machine is not cutting on the perforated lines (separating each ticket equally).
Bet the person who purchased a card before he, might have thought they won money on the scratch off. Same goes for the person, who bought after her.
The whole roll would have to be cut wrong in order for that to happen. ..
That's some BS, what if the next lottery ticket was a $20,000 winner and they saw the wrong numbers. Then that means that person would be out $20, 000 too!
