Typical day in a Senate hearing. No questions answered. No repercussions. Another wasted day.
Sen. Kennedy got the answer to his question.
I think she's been exposed. Sounds to me like she's presented her findings to the IRS. Now we get to see who is honest in the IRS. Are they going to do a cover up? Are they being paid off? If yes, good bye, because they too are being exposed as part of the deep state.
It seems like this is the new way of governance now. Canada here.
I used to (and still do) enjoy the quip, "Pro is to Con as Progress is to Congress." But in time, I learned about the discussion in the Federalist Papers and elsewhere that USA's founders were quite concerned about the "tyranny of the majority" hence many of the check and balances; in short, government was designed in some respects to be *inefficient* so that a slim majority 50.01% couldn't impose unfair burdens on the slim minority. I think the American people are safest (especially budgetarily) when Congress is in gridlock and gets next to nothing done. Hope that eases the pain of this otherwise wasted time.
It's just smoke in mirrors. Our goverment has no intention of fixing any problems in the country.
Senator John Kennedy = one of the best gifts the Republican Party ever received!
He's a gift to the American people.

Yes! But the Republican party does not deserve him.

She makes an allegation and refuses to name names. What a reprobate.
It's not her place to name names and Kennedy knows it. It's the job of the IRS. Note that Kennedy doesn't bother to check with them.
If she told the truth, she'd lose her job, and she knows it. She would need to provide proof with her point and she can't.

And so is the Kennedy name these days.
Yeah, just keep our mouths closed, keep working and let the huge corporations funnel the money offshore to avoid tax. Let the world turn into a shit hole for the poor whilst the execs laugh in the sun off the hard work of people trying to get along. Cool.

She says "They're not cheats.. they just cross the legal line"
J h j h j
There is so much gray with tax law. Companies have an incentive to avoid taxes, just like you. These are large firms, with large, sophisticated accounting systems. Tax lawyers will tell you to avoid the gray, but in the case of these large corps, the benefits may outweigh the risks of possibly losing in court.
I have watched many of bidens nominations avoid questions, but she had no real way of answering the questions. Yes, companies try and avoid taxes, but the line of legal vs legal is usually decided by courts. Maybe the IRS is right, and maybe some of these corps is right, but the courts will decide.
@@whycomes9562, nothing he said is disputed by your tirade against a strawman.
Everyone tries to minimize what they pay. We all accept this. She accused companies of cheating, and then wasn't willing to name those she accuses. Why? Because she's arguing for more government power and wants to deny the accused the right to debunk her claims.
@v44rgtuy0l3 If there are active cases, she probably isn't allowed to talk about them. If say Apple wins their case, they could go after her for defamation. I think if you are the government, taking action, then you would have to "believe" they are breaking the law, thus the reason you are bringing them to court. You may be completely wrong. The courts decide.
I agree, we don't need more IRS funding. They shouldn't be going after gray areas, and instead should be focused on black and white illegal activity. But these government officials can make big names for themselves if they win a case against say Apple, for billions of dollars.
Ummmm.....yeah, I think she doesn't understand the definition of a cheat! If we "crossed the legal line", I'm pretty sure we'd be in trouble!!! Nothing ever happens to them, never will!!! Too many swamp people protect and cover for each other!
All she had to say was "I'm sorry I can't answer your question with specifics because I'll be sued for making a liabelous allegation that certain corporations are committing tax fraud when I have no proof."
If she can't provide information to congress, when asked then let's not spend taxpayer money on her. If you take tax dollars, you must answer to congress. And these beaurocrats are useless to us if they don't operate transparently. It's just wasting money. No need. Let's get it together, get people who report to the people, not operate in the shadows. It's just so much money being wasted on people that are lying and hiding the truth from us. And pretty sure gov employees have qualified immunity.
You'd think HE would know that as well!
They can't sue her if it's true, and if she says it with no proof or evidence then it's a hollow allegation.
@@rascalme9754 exactly she comes there without evidence just like a tin foil hat theorist. Big companies surly try to minimazie taxes like evryone else in the borders of the law.
She doesn't have to worry about that if it is true or she has reasonable evidence to suggest it is true. She would only be liable if she said something false that she knew to be false. That's the beauty of his questioning of her, if you understand why he was asking these particular questions. The truth is gleaned, whether she answers or not.
At least this woman didn't preface each non-answer with "Thank you for the question."

Praise GOD ! Very well said, I agree!
Removed from what? Put on trial for what specific crime? What are you attempting to say here?
Kennedy's question is built upon an entirely faulty premise. You can know something is true in the aggregate without knowing specifically who's responsible. For example I can say there's a high likelihood that an active serial killer is operating somewhere in the US without knowing who it is.

Typical CommuRat…accuse…then go back and fabricate the evidence later.
Coward? Yes. Dumb? No.... sorta. Let me explain. She knows that until something is PROVED in a court of law, it would be considered slander to make unfounded spoken charges that damage a company's reputation. So she can't let names slip, or she risks being sued. So she was smart not to name names. What she SHOULD have said is she believes there is sufficient evidence that, when brought to trial, will show that Company X, Y, and Z and not following all IRS regulations. That would be truthful and an opinion only, which would keep her out of hot water. But, she decided to go for sensationalism by pretending to have confirmed names.... that's where her behavior was dumb. But also smart enough not to get herself in trouble other than simply being embarrassed, which doesn't seem to be much of a worry to many folks presently.
The SMART thing would've been to shaddup and not say a word about it.

So sick of these exchanges.
Then why do you watch and comment on them?
This is what your taxes are paying for instead of going into your pocket.
The vast majority of federal income tax, over 98% IIRC, is solely used to make interest payments to the federal reserve, a private bank with a hundred year contract that was just renewed a couple years ago (during Obama admin). Interest, on our own money, "loaned" to the government, printed with nothing to back it up. Federal income tax was supposed to be temporary. Americans were promised it would be temporary, just as we were promised the economy would be fixed when the government illegally demanded all privately owned gold be turned over to the government, under threat of incarceration for something like ten years or more. It did not fix the economy. Are you angry? You should be.
@debacofzomb9889
You have to consider the alternative this day in age, though. Before income tax, there were much higher terrifs. We live off technology now. That $1000 smart phone you made this comment through would cost a WHOLE lot more with higher trade terrifs. If we raise the prices through terrifs, these nations producing these gadgets for cheap would quickly realize that it doesn't matter how cheap they put the devices out for if we still get charged so much on top of this. The price of computer technology would skyrocket even higher. The solution to that is, of course, products produced in the US.
That will take some time.
Your taxes don't pay for anything except the interest on their debt. 100% is sent to the federal reserve, who sends it on to the bank of England, who in turn keeps 40% and pushes the remaining 60% to the bank of the Vatican. You folks are extremely and dangerously uneducated in facts.
@@debacofzomb9889 Indeed! The (Zionist!) banksters - and the Congressional Military Industrial Complex (which is not solely American, but a global phenomenon, and which they also own!) are ultimately responsible for virtually ALL of the modern world's problems.
And guess who is their leader? And guess who also owns 80% of Israel and over 50% of the rest of the world's wealth too! Here's a clue, their family name begins with an 'R' and it's NOT 'Rockefeller' (Though they too are also among the banksters and are almost as bad!)
@@debacofzomb9889 you should go back and read the 16th Amendment again. Its was never temporary. And its just under 40%, but I wouldn't really expect facts from someone with your 'position'.

Also, he reaptes the same question again "who they are?". She named a few possible companies. She can not categorically say they "cheat", as the IRS needs to investigate and given the tools to do so. Funny how the US can overpolice certain areas (like the UK), but doesn't supply enough resources to investigate and collect taxes from corporations such as Apple.
