You can disable app auto-update in Microsoft Store after installing Windows 10 22H2, so apps won’t update themselves, and that means that monochrome icons will stay for those apps until you manually update it, you can also bring back colored tiles in 20H2+ you just need to use guide for enabling new start menu in 2004/20H1 but on step where it says to change number in registry to 2 change it to 0 instead and then restart your pc, (you might need to right-click on registry key and click permissions and take ownership so you can change the number) you can also download classic hero/harmony wallpaper if you want, and you will get your original Windows 10 1809 look :) sadly I don't know yet if it is possible to bring back old aero-like transparency from 1709 and below to new versions of Windows 10 though

I badly miss Search/Cortana from Windows 10 RTM. It felt much more organically integrated and native to Windows 10. Search in the latest builds of Windows 10 is a bloody mess, it's busy, and the icons of many if not most Metro/Modern/Fluent apps retain displaying an ugly square background behind them (which can only be fixed with an external program such as BeautySearch). I like the latest visual effects, so I'd like to have the newest translucency and shininess things added to that old interface. Oh, and a native toggle to disable Bing search; heck, Internet search altogether, even if it was Google. Personally, if I want to search for something, I open my browser first. And yeah, I also miss Cortana, very, very badly. She didn't always understand what the user wanted, buy she was fun to interact with, and even had personality and was sassy. In the latest builds, she's stupid as crap, utterly useless. It's so frustrating I ended up force-removing her altogether, because it's so saddening to have her there and it being a mere remembrance of a shadow of what she once was and could have been, what a shame.

20H2 was, in my opinion, one of the worst (if not, the worst versions) in terms of Windows update. In general, it was pretty okay for my needs. Reason behind that you might ask? Well, bootlooping during some updates and then taking 25-30 minutes to boot back to normal. It was annoying, especially when you accidentally press Restart and Update at 4AM.

There was a bug where incompatible computers with windows 10 insider preview were being upgraded to windows 11. Apparently microsoft has issued a new update to fix this bug. What you can do is reinstall windows 10. Using windows 11 on an unsupported hardware is possible since microsoft themselves published the methods to bypass the virtual restrictions imposed.

The Windows 10 forced upgrade from Window 7 beginning in 2015 destroyed more computers than any malware in history. For that, I will never forgive Microsoft. With each update, it was more bloatware and telemetry taking local control over the OS away from the user. In the future, you will have to be connected to the internet to install and use Windows and you will be continually charged for productivity features. I’ve been using MS products since DOS 2.0 in 1982 and am thoroughly fed up with Microsoft and Windows in 2023.

I miss the dark UI (taskbar, Start menu) from W10 1507 to 1809, looks more elegant than 1903's and newer.
You can set your Windows mode (Start, taskbar, and action center). It's dark by default.

Man I love Windows 10 rtm's design and performance, not recommended to daily drive though.. but you could install other antiviruses.

The 22H2 background is a remake of Windows 7 Starter but with a flat flag and not the wavy one of XP.

In my opinion, the UI of 10 (21H2) looks more Modern surprisingly. I disabled Cortana since it wouldn't SHUT UP.
Why not use Cortana separately?
