What a brilliant and refreshingly different way to start a review of what seems to be a great driver's car! Well done Zigwheels team!! And don't worry, there is a legion of auto enthusiasts who will still focus on the drive, performance and driving dynamics over anything else. And hence appreciate what you did here.
trust me, the auto enthusiasts - we wait to see the behind the wheel experience and especially the engine revs!!! and wow its a rarity to see a statement referring to a car that its as good as Ecosport and polo! looking forward to go for a test drive!!! let me see how it matches to ecosport!!
Loved the narration of overall content. Didn't feel bored throughout the 30 mins of the video. Don't know is it due to the car or how the way it is presented or narrated.
Nice review as always from Zigwheels👌🏻👌🏻 Now coming to Tushar and Arun, can you speak in Konkani with the people in Goa or you resort to Hindi just like me because it feels tough to catch their speed😂
Thank you very much for a fantastic review. Absolutely loved it. Just a question though, what is your view of the driving comfort and handling in bumper-to-bumper city traffic conditions like in Bengaluru. I will keenly look forward to the detailed drive report and also the comparison review.
Thanks for watching! The car is certainly easy to maneuver as the steering and controls are very light. One concern could be the car's fuel-efficiency in heavy bumper-to-bumper traffic (the kind you encounter in Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi) where average speeds dip below 20kmph. Using the same engine in those conditions (in cars like the Taigun 1.0TSI) both us and owners have found real-world efficiency dip to 8-9kmpl.
Great review unlike some of those so-called experts and enthusiastic! I have taken a test drive of both Automatic and manual, my opinion: Pros: 1. A real fun to drive car, however Automatic drives better due to hard and long clutch in the manual. 2. Really comfortable front seats and interior feels premium. 3. As the brand stands for, sturdy build...no compromise. 4. Large boot space. Cons: 1. Worst ever rear camera, you will not expect this in a brand like Skoda. 2. Don't expect Skoda claimed mileage, in city drive it will not give more than 12 and highways close to 15 to 17 depending on how you drive. But guess it should OK for well built and heavy car like this. 3. The touch screen A/C a big problem, Skoda should stick to buttons. 3. Some of the features like rearview camera, keyless entry, Hill hold control, push button, auto a/c available only starting from 2nd top model and on road Price in Bangalore for same starts from 14.20 lacs for manual and goes upto 17.80 lacs for the top Automatic varient. So this is actually not an under 10 lacs car as the hype is created.
Does a car run only on reverse camera. Do you use it all the time? Yes i agree it’s not the best quality cam out there , but come on it should not be a deal breaker.
You guys have to make a review on Citroen Basalt and Citroen Aircross. What more does Kylaq offer over the Aircross except for the power seats and ventilated seats? Could be a good comparison too!
Great review. Really loved it. And I think the best review out there. But one thing I wanna ask is the name of the intro song haha, tried using shazam but it couldn't recognize the song so it'd be great if you could reply with the song name. Thanks!
Grateful for your feedback, thank you 🙏 We’re figuring this out ourselves at the moment. We rely on the podcast review format mostly when we don’t get enough time on shoots and of course, for non-review discussions. Media drives these days are getting very time restricted because we have to shoot photos, short format video content and the reviews. So when we aren’t getting enough drive time, we cut the shoot limitation to spend more time testing the car and publishing a video that’s communicating a more complete picture.
Another lovely product from Skoda that will not be a box office hit. Sure, you get a dynamically sorted chassis, good ride and a engine that could put a smile on your face, but where is the friends and family launcher, a.ka. panaromic sunroof? Where is the D. K. Bose sound system? why wont it talk to Alexa? what has she done? Horrible jokes aside, what Kylaq lacks the most, something that aam junta values the most, may be after the panaromic sunroof, is road presence. The front looks good, but the rest looks small. In a market where "Mera bada hai!" determines the sales, Kylaq fails to impress, I think. Then there is the sales and service aspect, where Skoda proves to be a bit too expensive to maintain. Mileage too I don't expect it to be that great in everyday usage. All the enthu talk in ok, but how many enthu are even there? And then there is the question of how many of those enthusiasts will actually put the money where their mouth is? Result? Mediocre sales at best. Would I buy one? If I had the money, sure! But in India, gimmicks are what ultimately sell cars. History is proof that a enthu package (in 99% cases) dies a slow, painful death and then the country would say, "In search of gold, we lost a diamond". In the case of Kylaq though I genuinely hope I am wrong :)
Perfectly summed up! The core challenge for the Kylaq is how much competition is doing already. Something we’ve expressed to them directly. A good driving car and the allure of a Euro brand helps but it’s not enough to outdo the competition viz sales. However, we’re guessing Skoda is aware of this. For them, this car has the potential to raise sales because of the more accessible price point. So even if it doesn’t become a best seller in the market, it will ultimately strengthen brand Skoda’s sales and reach. More so than the Kushaq or Slavia for sure.
@@zigwheels I see a few Kushaqs but very few Slavias. I assume between two, Virtus probably does a bit better. But yes, as you rightly said, It should probably add to the monthly sales figures for the company and this is something that they really need. I hope Kylaq does well.
You are no different.. the moment you started talking about music system and sunroof.. its clear you appreciate them more than the mechanicals of the car itself.
In our experience with this same engine (in other cars like the Taigun/Kushaq), 12-16kmpl is possible in smooth flowing conditions (city-highway). In peak hour traffic conditions, that number can drop to 9-10kmpl
The 2L Kushaq is up to the modders because Skoda won’t do it but a 1.5 TSI is definitely feasible. Skoda’s only hesitation is the price point as that engine displacement will negate the small car tax benefits
I am considering between skoda kylaq prestige automatic and the honda amaze vx cvt. There is nearly a six lakh rupee price difference. But the additional 25bhp power, better automatic gearbox, ventilated seats and the higher ground clearance might be worth it? I think so.
It’s quite a huge price premium in all honesty. The difference in drive experience is night and day. If you’re looking for something exciting, by all means, make the stretch. The Kylaq also behaves better when you drive with a passenger load. The Amaze is a functionally sorted family city car. If you raise your budget and go with the Kylaq it is a bit of a heart over head decision. And there’s nothing wrong with that 😉
Under 10lakh ex showroom, for a small 4 person family, regular use and occasional highway drives, which would be the best between i20 n line n6 and the kylaq classic with accessory infotainment and possibly alloy wheels
Ouuuu, that’s a tough one because both are good options. The i20 N Line’s features package execution is better so we’d tilt a bit towards it for that. The Kylaq’s advantage is its ground clearance and better suspension manners with a passenger load.
