Absolutely fantastic work! That music during the parts where you work and aren’t talking was so perfect. I not only loved having music during that part but that specific song put me in a trance. I loved everything about this video so much!

Also, the cassette may default to deck 2, as that is your playback only deck. I had an Aiwa NSX-D55 system, and if I was using Deck 1 for playback, I had to manually select it with the "TAPE" function button when the tape was inserted. Give that a go.

You may know by now, but some Mini disc players didn't have long play capability, so that is why there is no sound from your LP disc.
The players that did have it, had three or four recording modes, Standard play, which your hifi is capable of.
Then you had Mono recording, which doubled the length of the disc, in standard play quality.
Then there was LP1, which doubled the length of the disc, recording in STEREO, but slightly compressed, so a slight loss in sound quality over standard play.
Then there was LP2, which quadruples the length of the disc, recording in STEREO, but highly compressed. So the loss in sound quality over standard play is very noticeable.
Standard play is best if you want a near perfect copy of a CD or Vinyl record, or any other source.
Mono was usually used for voice recording with a mic attached, or could be used to copy Mono CD recordings, giving you the same sound quality as standard play.
LP1 is fine for recording from radio, or just making a mix disc for when you're out jogging or in the gym etc, and sound quality is absolutely fine in most cases, although a critical ear will notice a slight loss in quality over the original source material.
LP2, I would only recommend if you were really short on blank discs, as the sound quality really suffers as a result of the extra compression. So I would avoid LP2 if you want a good copy of a CD etc.
Hope that explains it for you.
Well done with the fix btw, they can be a nightmare those one box systems. Luckily mine was in two pieces, Tuner/Amplifier and CD/Cassette, so much easier to work on.

Mine is the same instead mines a sony mini hifi system 3 cd . 2 tape. Works perfectly having owned it since 2005 at a price of £250. With a VAC system . And a big fan and heatsync on the back. Its a bloody goodun. Hence why it was very very expensive. Still plays tapes very well. Still plays cds very well. Very proud to own it.

Hi, i enjoyed this, I have just received a lovely sony bluetooth/cd player very cheap as faulty. Turned out to be a simple mechanical fix for the cd player.
Just a couple of points which may help, the tape record head maybe dirty, and the heads may need demagnetising. Also, the manual says to use type 1 only, so chrome and metal probably won't record or play well. Also, if the belts are not the original then they may be causing wow and flutter due to them been an irregular size or too tight. Regarding tape 1 deck, If the tape 1 sensor is not working it may just need deoxit to clean it out or dry joints resoldered. However, have you tried pressing the tape selection button twice to see if it changes deck selection. Finally, there's no mention of md long play in the manual so this must be pre long play md era rather than a fault. I'm a bit like you and don't like when something doesn't fully work even if it is not used lol.

    • @HooverLux
      @HooverLux  3 ปีที่แล้ว

Hey John, thanks for your lovely comment mate. I will have a look at a de magnetiser, but to be honest, I’d only ever use it a few times, the size of the belts definitely can be the cause, I’m just hoping they stretch a little over usage as I’ve seen that can happen and the W&F can get better. I have some deoxit, but getting clear access to that side of the hifi is beyond my capabilities as the big side board seemed to be soldered to the front board, again Beyond me. I will try some contact cleaner in that switch, but as you said, it really needs close inspection. Again thank you my friend. 🤗

@@HooverLux I used to sell and service Aiwa stereo systems back in the late 90s to early 2000s. The drive belts for the auto reverse cassette deck and CD multichanger used to deteriorate rapidly if the unit wasn't given adequate ventilation. Owners used to stuff them into bookshelves and cabinets surrounded by clutter such as ornaments, video cassettes, stacks of CDs, newspapers and magazines etc. If given decent ventilation the unit stayed cooler and the belts fared much better. I still have one that works perfectly and has only ever had a replacement CD laser...

Do you still have the cd and the cassette mechanism belts with you ?
If you do have them can you let me know whether you’re gonna sell those belts out?
If yes i’ll be happy to buy them.

  • @hermanmunster3358

If you do buy a turntable, you will need one with a BUILT IN PHONO STAGE, and make sure it is INTERNALLY GROUNDED also, otherwise you will get an annoying electrical buzz, or hum.
The phono stage is like a built in pre amplifier, which increases the output sound level of the turntable, so that it will be picked up by your hifi. If you don't buy a turntable with this, you will get no sound from it when plugged into the AUX or Line In socket, or it will be VERY low compared to the CD, MD, Tape etc.
