This was exactly my problem. Two wires broken. Did everything just like you explained and everything is working perfectly now. Thank you so much for posting this video! Saved me an expensive trip to the dealer.
Unbelievable! My 2011 Acura MDX suffered the same exact problem. If it wasn't for your video, it would have taken me forever to diagnose the problem. Thank you for posting this!!
George - FANTASTIC video. You saved me I'm sure hundreds as I was about to take it to the dealer. My issue was tailgate wouldn't open, door lock didn't work, no beep when locking doors twice via remote. (my 3rd wire - the white one was broken). I just did a temp fix (took less than 5 minutes) - will take out the plug and solder it like you did later. BTW - I didn't order the wiring harness yet as I believe I can fix without replacing the entire harness, but the part # for a a 2011 MDX (fits 2010-2013 models) is 32757-STX-A01. The 32757-STX-A00 is for yrs 2007-2009. Don't know what the difference is as they look identical, but just FYI to everyone. THANKS AGAIN!!!!
My 2010 MDX is the best vehicle I've had with 280K and still reliable. Thanks for the great video. Wiring problems are the most challenging. I use to troubleshoot transmission wiring on drilling rigs with the rig down and the crew standing waiting to go back to work. Roughly 10K+ an hour waiting for you. Most of the problems are in the elements or water trapped in a secure junction box. Any connection in a wiring harness is a weak point and are there for ease of assembly, not dur/reliability. It is the needle in the haystack to find. Run by wire is cool until you have to troubleshoot it. Be safe and keep up the great work.
Thanks for great video. I just repaired mine yesterday. Had two wires broken and local stealership wanted $147 for the harness even though online it’s almost half that. I removed the harness from the vehicle, which is very easy, and repaired it on the workbench.
Awesome... thank you, u saved me time and money!! My wifes 09 mdx had no power for all locks, tailgate, gas door, memory seats, turn signal found 2 wires broken including that green wire fixed all that everything works perfect!! thanks again !!
Thank you I've been chasing this problem for a year and nobody had a answer. I've googled it and everything but never found this video till today. Problem fixed. Thanks so much
Thank you for this. Just fixed one wire that was separated from this plug. After watching this video, it seemed like a simple fix, so I gave it a try and everything worked after reinstalling. No need to bring it to the shop nor find this expensive replacement for a single detached wire. 👍
My driver side windows stopped working and this was the first thing I tried, and IT WORKED! Thanks so much for making/sharing this video! Saved me so much time and money!
Thank you so much for this video, it saved me a ton of time and wasted $$. My tailgate latch stopped working last week, and last night I realized my driver door lock wasn’t working along with my gas cap cover. After watching this I checked the harness on the door and found 2 broken wires. $35 and about 1/2 total time and everything is working again. Thanks again.
Thank you so much! I have been having a similar issue with my 2010 MDX (locks, hatch, etc.). I saw your video this morning and immediately went out to my car, pulled the boot off of the door side wiring harness, and BINGO, one of the wires is broken. THANK YOU GEORGE!!!
Had the same problem 2008 MDX, black/silver stripe wire broken in driver door wiring harness boot. Door locks, windows, gas cover, rear hatch all useless. I know I could not fix without this video. Thanks !!!
I think you are on the money with this research and fix. My wife's 08 MDX has a very similar issue with buttons for the lock, fuel, etc, only working when ignition is on. I am going to work on it today with you help, as I am confident this is the issue. Thanks brother!
Wow! Old Hondas are famous for broken wires in the drivers door harness (15 years old or older). I'm about to replace the driver door wiring harness on my 97 Honda CR-V. My electric locks don't always work and the stereo speaker in that door is hit and miss. But thanks for the video, you're the first person to re-pin a wire and fix the connector rather than cutting the connector off and direct-wiring the door to the harness. I've been wondering if it is possible to repair the connector I have instead of replacing the connector pigtail. For me, it will depend on how many wires are broken off. The wire length seems to contribute to the broken wires. After years of use and thousands of open-close cycles the wires are just short enough to be stressed and break off. With a replacement pigtail, I will have a lot more wire available to move back and forth.
Was so convinced this was my issue on my 2007, so many forums point to this issue, resulting in various locks, windows, tailgate, gas cap, sunroof, rear view mirrors (depending on which wires were effected). Took my harness all the way out and no broken wires. Tested each wire from harness to harness and No shorts in ANY! My symptoms are drivers side window won’t go down, passenger side door won’t unlock, rear hatch won’t unlock. My search continues.
My 2005 MDS fob stopped working. Automatic door lucks only work when engine is running but alarm goes off and remains engaged for 2 minutes. Dealer diagnosed and recommended replacing both driver side and passenger side multiplex units. Cost is 1337.00 plus tax. I have not found similar problem on surfing the net so I am not sure the multiplex is my problem. Any suggestions? I certainly will look at the door harness to see if there are broken wires
Great that you can made that harness worked. For me, there were 5 cables that broke right off at the end. I just purchased another cable on Amazon for $90 and replaced it. Everything works after that.
What model and size connector/terminal go on these wires? Mine pulled loose just like in this video, but the existing terminal/connector is gone also, so I need to crimp a new terminal on before I can make this repair. Thanks!
My 2007 MDX started with issues related to seat memory, then no power windows, then intermittent ability to open rear tailgate. I kept checking fuses, opening door and closing door, so sometimes the problems would be seen, and usually when door was open checking fuses everything was OK. A wire came out of its pin in the plug, just as you showed. It was an easy repair after watching your video. Thanks so much for the help!
Thank you so much for the info on your video, I got the same exact problem.. I bougt a new hardness and replace it everything was fix, except for the doorlocks from the inside...Did you have any idea what that my be?.. Thanks and I will appreciate your amswer...
THANK YOU VERY MUCH THIS VIDEO IS EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO MY 2010 ACURA MDX TODAY. I THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE TO BUY A NEW MASTER POWER DOOR SWITCH. THANKS AGAIN. I WILL TRY THIS TOMORROW.
With a bunch of broken wires I opted to replace the part. Part number 32757-stx-a00. Was $75 Canadian at the local dealership. I suggest tying a string on the wires when removing so can can guide the new wiring back with that string. Wasn’t easy to guide back even with the string. Good luck.
Old video, but I wonder if this is what happening with my 2007 Acura TL Type S. Hard rain the last few days(not sure if that caused it), but my turn signals(hazards work), dock locks, and key fob stopped working. My wipers only work on high, and I lost all my radio stations. I'll check the fuses hopefully tomorrow, but I don't believe it's just that.
I couldn't solder mines because it broke all the way, so I had to remove the pin altogether! I was able to feed harness into the cabin area to give me more room to work with, mines did exactly what yours did so I could rig it to get the driver door to work! Fix it because my mdx eventually shutdown while I was driving. So it's a must fix!
Hey! Ihave been having rear backdoor lonck/tailgate long problems and my cigarette lighter went out, I pulled off the cover and no wires were broken but one of them is (a black one) has copper exposed I was wondering if it's possible it got shorted?
Great video man! Light was fine for me. I've done the some thing with connectors on other projects. The 96 to 2000 Honda has a very similar issue. The wires would pull out of the connector. The windows in the back don't work or if they did, very slow no locks, anything to with the drivers door control switches. since it's a pain to work with so many wires, the last video I watched they took the fender off so you could get access to all of connectors instead, some would remove the whole door, cut the connector, get another from a junk car, and splice all the wires. just fix the connector. Who knows the junk one might have the same issues. You video was very helpful! Thanks man!
Help!!!! 2014 Acura ilx rear passenger door window is all the way down won't go up. I checked the fuses and they are good. Replace the motor/regulator and nothing tested the window switch and its good but nothing happens. Any thoughts.
Muchas gracias 😘 me ayudo a no gastar más en eléctricos que solo te sacan dinero y no dan solución, una admirador más Dios te bendiga 🙏, saludos desde Tijuana México ❤ 👍 ❤❤❤
my car 09 mdx was vandalized and the day after the window was broken the tailgate stopped working. I wish there was a video on the back end. thank you for your content
Finally, this is what's wrong with my car! I'm having a helluva time getting the end of the wire out of the white unit. any suggestions? I just feel like I'm not finding the latch to release it. thanks!
thanks you very much brother. My sister car is doing the same thing and I didn't know were to start looking. After watching your videos give me a little clue were to start before tearing into places I don't need to be or replace.
Thank you so much for this, I have this exact same problem, I was going to replace the harness , but I havent actually looked at it yet to check the wires, this is real pain the butt since I have to go inside my MDX and manually open the the gas cover and tailgate, once again thanks
Hey George I got a Acura TL 2012 driver door sensor not reading when the door is open. Doesn’t read at all. I switched front and back door sensors and still nothing. Let me know if you have any idea. Thanks
yeah $400 for preliminary estimate and $1500 for the modules swap with no result. Dealers love changing parts but reading troubleshooting charts... not so much 😊
Hello George i just replaced the cable harness you are showing on the viedo It fixed the rear hatch and the gas tank and the door locks but the power windows will still not work ( any of them ) what might be the cause of this I have the drivers window down and can't get it up. what might caused this I would appreciate your help
This is more common than you may realize. I had the same problem with our 2008 Acura MDX. Replaced the harness between the drivers door, and the module next to the fuse panel at the drivers foot well.
It's actually very common on Hondas, just not on newer ones. '90's Civics and Integras break off at the pins are require re-pinning. I'm actually doing a '96 Civic right now. Driver's front window doesn't work and both power mirrors don't work. Pass side has one broken wire, driver's side has 6 broken wires. BTW, that crimp area you opened up is meant to grab the insulation. The smaller crimp farther down is for grabbing the copper. You can buy new Honda pins on eBay for cheap. I bought a kit with a new connector and 25 pins for that Civic I'm working on for $25.
Hi George, I saw your video and I wonder if the same problem could apply for Honda accord 2013? Door locks from front and back sits suddenly stop working.
Informative video, I have a strange issue. my 2011 MDX both rear windows stopped working while going down. they are stuck half way. front windows are fine so is sun roof. Im stumped. any advice?
Thanks! Great video. I have had different things dropping off and after the windows went today I saw your video. I’ve got four broken wires. Now what I need is a diagram to know which wire/pin goes where.
Great video bro! I got two wires broken :(. Tailgate, windows and central lock is not working :(. Will replace the whole harness to avoid this issues again with new wires.
Great trouble shooting and excellent video. I have a question though 2008 Honda Accord the key fob works locks and unlocks door however the horn will not sound after the second push of the lock button on the fob. Inside the car the lock and unlock buttons will not work on the Driver side and passenger side so it will not lock or unlock also it use to lock automatically when I accelerated above 9 mph. Does this sound like an actuator problem or possibly a broken wire?
My driver side window stop working today it doesn't want to go up but i change out the fuse but it still not going up ,but this video going to help me too because I'm having the same problem with my car . Thank you for the video 😇☺️🙏🏻
Great video! I had 3 wires broken and fixed them. Everything is working but now when I turn off the car the speaker on the driver side makes a weird noise. Do you have any idea what I did wrong? Please help. Thank you.
My 2018 started today I was checking all the fuses because I have all kinds of lights on the dash and after I checked every fuse my tailgate stopped working it makes the beeping sound but doesn't open and now on the dashboard appeared a light something like power gate problem any suggestions?
Hello George. I have a 2007 Honda Odyssey. The only window that rolls down is the passenger. when I try to roll the passenger and rear windows down. All I hear is a click. I did check my fuses and they are all good. Can you please give me some advice. Thank you.
Great video. Thanks. They don't make this wire harness anymore and I'm a little too old to get down there and do this myself. I tried contacting Auto repair shops here but nobody will do it. Any suggestion on what business to contact.
HELP Please. Much appreciated. Reconnecting the wires to the clips was easier than I thought. Unfortunately, the windows, fuel door & locks still do not work. Additionally. Hi beam does not work. I definitely would appreciate any experienced advice and direction how to fix this. INITIALLY - I noticed the solid black wire was broken. In the process of removing the pin (as shown in video) the solid white wire broke. Removed pins, reconnected wires, and reseated the pins. That was easy. Still wondering what went wrong. I haven’t found any schematics to make sure my connections are correct. Again, I would appreciate any help.
Bob Foley Thank you so much, I found a broken wire in the from the car to the door. This has been bothering me for over a year now. Thanks for your video and how to repair it.
So sadly this wasn't the issue with ours nor was it the fuses hense why I am here is there any other quick issue problems that could be causing the issues??? Please and thanks
You are a genius!!! This was for people who don't have a lot of money to dedicate to this fix!!!! Or need it fixed asap until they could get the part. But I will order the harness and replace mines even though I soldered it first thanx!
I just saw your video..😮😮😮 amazing exellente work, good job, now, I really hope that will be the same solution for me, except that I have a 2011 tl, same problem but windows do work.. I will definitely check for loose wires 🙏
🌺good stuff .. I have a '02 Honda Civic LX 4door. (Does not have lockout master control for passenger locks,/winDows button).. Rear passenger window (ONLY) down stuck , any guesses?
I appreciate you very much my car was doing the exact thing and it was beginning to frustrate me trying to find a solution, you are the best thank you for your time!!!🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
should have first pulled the wire a little more out of the harness, (make the pin crimp on the insullation) then solder the tiny exposed wire end to the pin just ahead of the crimp....... the way it was done in this video the connection will eventually fail, due to flexing every time the door is opened and closed... it was good trouble shooting, but not a good enough repair.
George, I can't thank you enough......I have a 2009 MDX. No windows or power locks or tailgate or gas lid. Plus I have had a oil level light for ever on this vehicle ( not sure if this is going to fix the oil warning ) but I have 3 broken wires on that harness. Thanks buddy!!!!!
The oil sensor is on the passenger side in the front wheel well. It a easy fix just be careful not to break the other sensor trying to get the sensor off like I did! Lol remove the wheel you'll see it and it's easier but not necessary
This saved me a ton as well. I can't thank you enough. Got most everything working. However, my mirror controls are inop as well as that driver's door speaker will go on and off if I move the harness there. Do you have the wiring schematic for that plug so I can see what each wire does and where it goes in that plug? I owe you a beer man. Thank you again. Please let me know if possible. Al
Hi I really appreciate your video... I purchased a regulator for my window thinking that was the issue per a mechanics diagnosis... but I have been self learning about my Acura am came across this video ... I have since then pulled my harness out and located that I have two broken wires, I probably can fix theses my self but I have such a busy life, I just wanted to know who would I actually call if I wanted to have this done more professionally what type or service area would I be seeking? Is it expensive? I would be very grateful if you can help!!!
Any mechanic shop could do this, the dealer, or audio installers as well, just make calls and ask if they do electrical work then when you take your car into the shop show them the problem and then show them the harness and the 2 wires, then tell them you need the pins in the harness replaced! Don't make them force you to replace the entire harness if it's not necessary at all, just the two wires, should be 2 hours labor max!!!!
as someone who works on alot of demestic vehicles, my customer called with this exact complaint, first thing i said was possible broken wires in the door lol.
Great video and fix but you can get a whole new sub-harness for $38.00. It goes from the door to inside jam. If one broke others are probably about too as well.
George, Outstanding video! I just removed the boot to reveal my wiring harness and found at least one loose (partially disconnected wire (whew, this has to be the problem.) But, before I start I have 2 questions: 1) Did you remove the door hinge restrictor? the part that limits the door, so it doesn't swing too far out -The area is tight and I wondered if you removed this piece to gain better access? And. 2) did you disconnect the battery when working on the harness (soldering etc.)? Thanks, really fantastic find and fix.
I have this exact problem, but only when the mdx is outside in wet snowy weather. When it is dry everything works perfectly. I replaced the subharness because I could not see any bad wires to fix, just took a shot. :-) That did not fix the problem. Do you happen to have any other ideas? Like maybe a specific ground to check or the wiring in the driver side mirror? Thanks, great video, just wish I had a broken wire :-) Oh yeah, I just put a heater up to the mirror to melt the ice and dry it out. 15 minutes later everything was working again!
Check the rear junction box, in the hatch side panel drivers side. Commonly they get water from tailgate or roof drain leaks. Back of panel or inside will probably have corrosion, take it to an electrical repair place to save money. Stay gold.
That's great. I have a different issue where my locks are working okay, but the trunk won't open even with the driver door's botton, the key fob, nor the button above the licence plate. The fuel door does not open, either. .
7 years later and this video is still helping people. Thank you for making this video!
This was exactly my problem. Two wires broken. Did everything just like you explained and everything is working perfectly now. Thank you so much for posting this video! Saved me an expensive trip to the dealer.

Great vedio ! My 2013 MDX suffered the same problem ,I am going to fix it this weekend .Thanks for your contribution.
Hey George I got a Acura TL 2012 driver door sensor not reading when the door is open. Doesn’t read at all. I switched front and back door sensors and still nothing. Let me know if you have any idea. Thanks
Thank you so much for the video!! Helped me fix the door in about an hour! The dealership was going to charge me $400! Thanks bro :)
yeah $400 for preliminary estimate and $1500 for the modules swap with no result.

Any idea where I can get more pins? Can't seem to find the correct size.
Does it matter where the wires go ? Becuase I have a bunch of wires that are apart and I ordered one but it’s on back order
Mau it pertains to all honda models no matter what year.
@@boricua4evr1 Thank you for your time. You are the man!!!
Hi
Informative video, I have a strange issue. my 2011 MDX both rear windows stopped working while going down. they are stuck half way. front windows are fine so is sun roof. Im stumped. any advice?
This part has been on back order for months. Would I be able to ship the part to you for repair?
Thank you for posting.
I have the same problem with a 2009 MDX except all windows have stopped.
Your the best, you really take the time and effort to explain to us dummys...Michael 😁
2010 mdx that was my problem! Everything working except gas door tho right now still checking
Hello George. I have a 2007 Honda Odyssey. The only window that rolls down is the passenger. when I try to roll the passenger and rear windows down. All I hear is a click. I did check my fuses and they are all good. Can you please give me some advice. Thank you.
How was this solved?
Great job. I'm having the same problem, so I'll take a closer look at that harness.
Great video. Thanks. They don't make this wire harness anymore and I'm a little too old to get down there and do this myself. I tried contacting Auto repair shops here but nobody will do it. Any suggestion on what business to contact.
What year harness were they saying they don't make?
Keep trying. I looked for almost two years and finally found one on Amazon. It didn't fix my problem though so I'm still searching...
Again, I would appreciate any help.
thanks you are a really master in explaining and showing the how to fix my car
Watching from France..Great job Sir..Not easy to find and to do..Hat's off.
Bob Foley
Thank you so much, I found a broken wire in the from the car to the door. This has been bothering me for over a year now. Thanks for your video and how to repair it.
What scan tool do you use?
You saved me life bruh!!!!!!!!! I appreciate this like this. Save me hundreds of dollars!
Excellent I did the same thing in my 2011 mdx and it work. Thank you for you Video is excellent
So sadly this wasn't the issue with ours nor was it the fuses hense why I am here is there any other quick issue problems that could be causing the issues??? Please and thanks
This video was helpful but it's much easier and affordable to just change out the sub-harness. Only $35 on Amazon and it took >20 minutes to install.
Can you drop a link or description of the item

You are a genius!!! This was for people who don't have a lot of money to dedicate to this fix!!!! Or need it fixed asap until they could get the part. But I will order the harness and replace mines even though I soldered it first thanx!
I Know this is an old post but does anyone know the size of the push in terminals ? one of mine snapped while fixing it
I just saw your video..😮😮😮 amazing exellente work, good job,
now, I really hope that will be the same solution for me, except that I have a 2011 tl, same problem but windows do work..
I will definitely check for loose wires 🙏
🌺good stuff .. I have a '02 Honda Civic LX 4door. (Does not have lockout master control for passenger locks,/winDows button)..
Rear passenger window (ONLY) down stuck , any guesses?
I don't even have an MDX nor this issue, but thumbs up for good video and fix.
Hey I have the same problem but my turn signal and low beam and high beam don't work as well.
Have you come across this situation
I appreciate you very much my car was doing the exact thing and it was beginning to frustrate me trying to find a solution, you are the best thank you for your time!!!🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Great video. I have a Similar problem. With the door lock and mirrors on a CRV II
Where are you located
should have first pulled the wire a little more out of the harness, (make the pin crimp on the insullation) then solder the tiny exposed wire end to the pin just ahead of the crimp....... the way it was done in this video the connection will eventually fail, due to flexing every time the door is opened and closed... it was good trouble shooting, but not a good enough repair.
i have 02 acura cl type s will this work for me
Where I can get the harness my fire up ? Thank
+Kirk M (Old Jet Ski Guy) u welcome
You may have in fact have low oil because the MDX with the 3.7litre engine had major oil consumption problems.
The oil sensor is on the passenger side in the front wheel well. It a easy fix just be careful not to break the other sensor trying to get the sensor off like I did! Lol remove the wheel you'll see it and it's easier but not necessary
my back left side door don't lack ?stereo, camara, dvd, and GPS not turning on? can you help me out, thanks
Plus parts! New pins, new wires $20+2 hrs labor(every shop charges different prices per hour!!!)
Unfortunately I didn’t find a lose wire from the wiring hud I’m thinking it’s the master power window switch
Our customer installed our version of the master window switch and everything works except the fuel door? Switch Doctor
as someone who works on alot of demestic vehicles, my customer called with this exact complaint, first thing i said was possible broken wires in the door lol.
How can i fix the issue if everything works except the fuel door and rear window wiper?
Great video and fix but you can get a whole new sub-harness for $38.00. It goes from the door to inside jam. If one broke others are probably about too as well.
Where can I get this @?
I'll take 38 cents of solder over unnecessarily spending $38 for a new harness. if it ain't broke don't fix it.
Thanx I didn't think of that, I just fed it through the hole and pulled it into the cabin area to gain access to more room
The fuel door does not open, either. .
rogerthat hey roger did u happen to fix this problem I have the same thing going on
Have you fixed this problem ?
Thanks buddy! Saved me tons of time to diagnose the problem!
Thank you for your video it’s really help a lot because I have some problem and I will fix it the same way you fix thank you very much
