I think the real problem is that as a team we haven't learned how to win ugly . You can't expect to put on a show every time we play yet it seems that's the only way we can win . This is a problem especially when playing away because teams won't allow you to build up rhythm and it seems like this group or Ange have no way of dealing with adversity
This game had way too many stoppages tbh, no rhythm to the game at all, and it work better for palace, ange tried doing the same after talking to porro when a palace player was down then he went down 2 seconds into play. He tried to play there game and changed but backfired sadly.
I think the goal was more Romero's fault Ben. He hit a lob bouncing ball across the box. Yes, VDV didn't recover it well, but it was Romero put him in trouble when he had a simple forward pass, to Bissouma running into position. You never turn down a forward pass in build up to the final third in favour of a sideways ball, especially a bouncing one. I agree that playing out from the back is important and we create so many chances from it, however I also agree that it must be forward where possible, avoiding hospital passes and when pressed very aggressively you must look for the spare man and sometimes that ball is into the space in the channel, over the top or dropped into the striker. I think that's what Ange meant by composure instead of getting into a ding dong and getting into battles we didn't need. The team is still evolving and learning, there will be various issues before the team is a consistent, winning one. I do believe Ange knows what he is doing and is the man to bring success to the club.
Appreciate your levelheaded takes. Most spurs fans are just spewing reactionary bs, ange out, solanke was a waste of money, etc. Glad to hear someone else though Dom had a decent game
Dom has been playing very well and him, Moore and Vicario were the only ones that did as well as they could yesterday with the rest of the team malfunctioning.
We are finishing 3rd or 4th based on the football we are playing. Chelsea, Liverpool and villa are currently over achieving. Arsenal will go nowhere with that low block football. And city are going to drop more points than they have for many years this season. They are all currently eaking out small wins whereas spurs are ripping teams when they are on. Yesterday was just poor tactics. Ange will need to adapt.
I mean we have a reason, every season there’s always 1 season of improvement and another of disappointment, this always happens each 2 seasons it’s just a repeat of what Danny levy does, he brings managers for improvement and then takes the piss
@JJJ-bs8sm you're kidding yourself. We will finish below Arsenal, Liverpool, City, Chelsea, and Villa. I suspect there will be another as well. Ange is tactically inept, and I don't think the players have faith in his system. We are we are at the moment for a reason, and it's not bad luck
The way the Palace press absolutely dominated these weak players physically and mentally for basically 90 minutes is unforgivable. It’d be fair enough if it were Barcelona. Not one of the worst teams in the league
They keep pressing didnt care about counter attacks. Cause without son they dont have to care about those kind of situations against west ham fourth goal.
We aren't as good as content creators made out after the West Ham win, and we aren't as bad as people are making out now. Was a poor day at the office, and we didn't match Palace physically. But need to be more composed in playing out from the back
Win some, lose some, 10th to 6th place side on for 50-60 points is where we are at, not relegation fodder, not bottom half, but a fair way from top four.
Playing cute football on that small pitch against that team was always going to be a struggle. Just needed to at least keep it tight at the back. Once we were down by a goal we was done.
Coming back here after the Man City game at the Carabao Cup and I noticed something about Angeball. We weren't offer that much spaces in this game comparing to that Man City game, and Man City was quite a front footed team to Palace that night. But it was the spaces that totally bailed us out on that one. The players had so much better control of the ball and were able to make so many much better passes moving forward comparing to constantly losing the ball, and alongside the smaller pitch, losing constantly on OUR OWN SIDE of the pitch. So what needs to be taken is a much better team lineup that can adapt to not only the opposition's strategy but also what kind of pitches the ball is rolling on. Rewatch all our other away games and you can just tell.
Ange didn't tell them to have all their passes blocked or intercepted. Who the hell knows what Ange's gameplan or adaptations were? The players' passing was absolutely dreadful.
Totally agree Ben, having a clear style of play is fantastic and I’m please we have someone that has made this such a feature of how we play, however the inability to see circumstances when that style of play needs to be amended in real time and mix things up is so frustrating. Clearly there is a firm stance on this and players Must feel they can’t do otherwise but if the opposition know, that no matter what is happening we will continue to do the same thing over and over, it really isn’t surprising that we keep being caught out. Surely we must work on plan b and plan c scenarios? If not then we need to and fast.
As a palace fan, when I came out for the second half I expected a more direct spurs our high press was working so effectively that a change of system felt a no brainer. The fact ange barely changed it is just criminal on his part and questions need to be asked
You see the post about the pitch sizes on twitter? Seems like we are struggling a lot on the smaller pitches, seem to do well on the large pitches similar to our home ground.
The Brighton loss should have been a wake-up call. If we learned anything from that game, we wouldn't have suffered another defeat against Crystal Palace. Ange needs to make urgent changes, or we'll continue to see these disappointing results. Levy will pull the trigger if Ange don't perform.
One thing that must never been forgotten when we invoke Potchetino and other managers from the past, is that they won nothing. Poch had a much better team than Ange does and we won zip. So I don't get the comparisons this early in the project. Ange needs time and he will learn about his tactical choices of trying play cute football on a pitch that size.
It’s angeball or nothing mate. Whenever this manager is asked if he learned something from X/Y/Z the answer’s always no mate…. He’s big Ange and he already knows everything about football mate.
@@shottskiesI back Ange who has done this many times rather than flakey fans. He is not a supporter of the club, he doesn't tell fans what to say or think. Not sure why fans tell him how to do his job. Sure it's fun bit pointless. Fans know I everything. I get it.
Ange needs to change or we are finishing outside Europe places. Nothing wrong with high line or playing out from the back. However we are not good enough to do it all the time! Also we are so predictable it makes it so easy for the opposition as they know exactly what we are going to do all time. We want to be a front foot team but just vary it a bit as all the top teams do, MC, Ars, Liv all go long some of the time. I worry he is one of those people who does not listen or learn effectively?
Above every tatic and every.critisizm any player who plays in epl must show up every game to win and do their best. Spurs needed to be hungry for the win. If fans pay m9ney to watch their team they expect the players give their all.
Perfect answer. I think we need an older vet like a Milner to help lead the team at times. The youth movement is good but they're lacking some things that come with maturity.
Funny how when fans like myself post these actsul flaws to your flavors of how we won the dau. Now that is is glaring, time to address it. Vic and Romero and by themselves move the point of press to the 18 yrads box and Ange stand by and watch it happen. This was coming. Even in the wins, Vic does the same thing. This time we got punished.
Yesterdays performance was poor. We definitely fell asleep playing yesterday but its done now, we have to wake the hell up and move on to playing City in the cup as this is a good opportunity to progress further in the cup and shun that "Spursy" label. It's gonna be tough, but it will be good to knock them out as revenge for last year in the FA cup. We have to go in with our strongest squad and that will mean playing two CDM's but we need to stop playing out from the back and making mistakes that way. If we play the ball with stronger passing with long and short passes, we'll have a good opportunity at creating some good opportunities to score. If we play the way we did against West Ham with that ruthless mentality consistently for each match, the results will come, we just have to keep backing the team and Ange to get it right. COYS ⚪⚽
He took off Kulu and Madders who was supposed to create chances for us? Those 3 changes he made were absolute trash. Also Mikey Moore is not supposed to start 2 games a week for us. It's a joke.

Ange doesn’t want three points, or even one point, unless it’s from playing plan A angeball mate. He’s indicated this multiple times.

Our defenders are clearly under instruction not to long pass from the back. Romero in particular for Argentina is an amazing long passer.
Bit hard to forward pass when palace wasn't leaving spaces and tottenham players were not getting into spaces available..
@@SDethy Thats why we paid the big kahunas for Big Dom Solanke! So hit some long balls to Solanke. Not all the time but vary it up.

I feel like it should be Kulusevski OR Maddison, not both.
Also Maddison started against AZ so should have been rested.
This was the game for Sarr and Bentancur to come on. For Kulu and Bissouma.
