The Dominion app does look very good! I'm glad that you are able to have your own copy to play quickly and efficiently in a digital form when you so desire. Other digital board games that I've discovered and enjoyed include Ascension (highly recommended as a deck builder with some combat/vs), Race for the Galaxy, Star Realms, and more recently Dune Imperium. Thanks for sharing!
The app is phenomenal! I’ve been playing it every day! ☺️ (It is free on the App Store and I’ve been almost exclusively using the app for the Daily Challenge feature, which is free!) I’ve played Ascension Tactics but not the regular Ascension! (Tactics was very fun!) I really enjoy both Star Realms and Dune Imperium, but I haven’t had a chance to try Race for the Galaxy yet! Thank you for the recommendations! ☺️

I've been going pretty ham on the Star Realms app lately, so this is such a bonus that there is also a Dominion app. Also, thanks for the tip Dave, I also just downloaded Friday and Lost Cities - currently in a transition right now and we had to sell a bunch of board games so we've been digging the apps of late!

I've been playing this in Beta for a couple years. I love it and played like crazy for a while. My game group is so so on it so I get my fix against the computer.
I’ve been playing it like crazy, too! Those Daily Challenges suck me in every day! 🤣 And the Hard AI is HARD! I rarely beat him on my first try! But it’s fun to see its strategies, too! Thank you for Beta testing it! We should play it together sometime!
I have downloaded the App and I must say it it very well done. I have been playing with my daughter with pass and play mode. I’m going to stick to the base game for now. Dominika

I hadn’t played Dominion in a while and couldn’t really remember how to play, so the tutorial the app has was super helpful for me! And, being in a long-distance relationship, this app gave me and my boyfriend another thing we can do online together! I love it

The problem you pose at the end of the video is actually the problem we ran into for awhile. Dominion is Jillian and my favorite two-player game, but setup has always been difficult so, it used to work best when we had a lot of time (which we haven't lately). So we finally invested in a good insert and dividers for it which actually allow us to leave our previous game setup inside a dominion box so that, when we are ready to play again we just pull the insert out and we can swap out any kingdom cards we want (we usually swap 4-5 cards each game and keep a couple of the others from the previous game). Doing it this way has made setup and cleanup a breeze and allowed us to play a lot more recently. I do prefer it in person, but I agree that setup is a problem once you get more than one or two expansions! Ethan also said he can't imagine playing in person now that the app is out; but I still prefer in person as the number one way to play (though the app is great too!).

I’m glad you found a system that works for you and Jillian! I also always (or maybe almost always?) prefer playing board games in person but if I start factoring in the setup and cleanup time and even the playtime, it’s hard to compete with how easy and breezy the Dominion app is! 🛡️ We’ll have to friend request each other (and Ethan) so maybe we can play a turn-based game together!

@@BoardGameDave I started playing yesterday after watching the video and since I wasn't ready to play the challenge I left and couldn't go back to it hence finding out you can only do it once. I'll give it a proper shot later today after work.

I'm so glad you asked because I had the exact scenario come up the other day on the app! I started my turn with a pretty miserable hand and a Young Witch and there weren't any curses left and the Way of the Mole card was out [+1 Action. Discard your hand. +3 Cards.] which was a much better option than playing the Young Witch! Does that make sense? They're not often super helpful but once in a while they really come in handy! ☺️
When I first asked this I couldn’t even figure out how Ways worked , or how they were different from Events.. fortunately I am finally starting to understand a little bit Yes your point makes sense .. although i wanna say (acknowledging I’m a noob) if a game has run all the way out of curses, there may be way more drama in the background (?)
@@arielbenjamin3253 I'm glad you were able to figure it out! With all the expansion included in the app there are a lot of expansion rules I've had to learn along the way! And luckily you only play with 10 for each player beyond the first so it's only 10 total in a 2P game! ☺ Let me know if you have any other questions!
I highly disagree! The app is SO smooth: it looks amazing, I love the background music, I appreciate the way every card has a sound effect, I really like the rules reference... I played Dominion on the browser for years and I like the app way better! ☺️ But to each their own! Thank you for the comment!
@@BoardGameDave The AI opponent on the app plays way too quickly. Very hard to follow what it's doing on its turn (and they tend to have long ones!). And the log only lets you look back one turn. All this, plus I'm not really interested in playing on a small phone screen--way too hard to read the text when you're not familiar with all the cards in the kingdom. The browser version is way better for those things. One plus for the app is that it has AI opponents of a variety of strengths--except they're too good!
