Just take Bahubali's lover for example. She looked darker due to the tough warrior life she lived, but after (well actually this ones pretty ridiculous) Bahubali cleaned her she became lighter skinned. Then also there's Bahubali's mother who has to suffer a lot, in part 2 you will see she is lighter skinned as a princess. So that's why they made the Barbarians look dark. Please don't take offense.
